  • The Insect Glaive in Monster Hunter World is definitely not my favorite weapon, but while I was using it to create this video I couldn't help but enjoy myself, the Aerial Combos are Insane!
    This title is currently available on PS4, Xbox One.

      @graciaman Před 6 lety +8

      Also the last hit of the O aerial has an extremely high motion value(hits almost as hard as the smaller hits together lol). You always want to try to hit the last one if you can.

      Also your arial combo is limited by your stamina

      And a maximum of 4 jumps.

    • @pazPAPAS
      @pazPAPAS Před 6 lety +3

      It's limited by your stamina, but you recover stamina while in the air and each jump launches you up higher than you fall during the duration of the attack. So, if you wait until the last possible moment before hitting the button again, you can stay in the air for the maximum number of jumps with barely enough stamina to jump once. This can be made even easier with skills that reduce stamina costs.
      However, if you do this, you run the risk of mounting a monster with very little stamina, so probably just try to use your stamina efficiently instead of spinning with none...

      yeah, but that takes up alot of stamina, and is more prone to get thrown out when the monster moves. Being steady and focusing on the weak part gives u more control over your stamina and “brace” moments. Sure, it deals less damage, but for me, I think mounting is a means to knock the monster down so you can deal huge damage to it afterwards, esp with teammates by your side, so yeah I can easily overlook the damage I deal as long as I knock it down.

  • @theunofficialfpsbalancetea5915

    Small word of advice, despite the fact that you want all three buffs for the triple buff you don’t want to waste too much time trying to get all 3, that can take forever sometimes. You want to at least get the red buff, if you have the red buff you should attack. Also when you have the red buff and your trying to chain mid air attack’s the key to getting back up in the air the key is landing the last swipe in the middle of that tornado flurry thing, which is demonstrated by how in the video sometimes he would hit most of the swipes but still land.

    • @KyouOneZilla
      @KyouOneZilla Před 6 lety +23

      Not only that, say you are having trouble getting one of the buff colors for whatever reason. Monster moves around a lot, or the wings are in the way for example. Get the 2 buffs that are easy to get and then use the marker near the trouble area. While the monster moves around, it will cause the kinsect to attack from different angles thus hitting different spots. It will likely eventually get the third element and you can recall it to complete the buff gauge.
      Finally, You only need 4 kinsects ever, although you can make 6 if you want to completely round out your options. Sever - Heal. Sever - Poison or Paralyze. Blunt - Heal. Blunt - Poison or Paralyze. Either status will get you extra damage in it's own way, so you really only need 4, but if you want to specifically use a kinsect for a monsters weakness you can get all 6. I mostly use Blunt Kinsects unless I really want to cut off a monsters tail or it's resistant to blunt damage. Once you get all 3 buffs, mark the weakest spot of the monster that way your kinsect attacks while you attack, maximizing your damage output. If you have a Blunt kinsect always mark the head for some KO opportunities.

    I started with the Insect Glaive and have not regretted it once. Used some of the others occasionally, but always end up sliding back to this one. If you keep this thing properly upgraded and buffed, it drops most bosses in short order. I have never had a boss fight last me more than 15 minutes or so. Tracking, exploring and chasing not included. I was even able to break parts off of Diablos loooong before I was supposed to even find him. My Palico had Diablos armor and I had not yet even fought Anjanath.

    I find that the buffs depend on the monster sometimes. Anjanath gives orange from the tail, white from the legs where as Rathian gives orange from the legs and white from the wings. Getting two of the buffs that work together give you extra bonuses as well and if you get all 3 you get all 3 bonuses you would get just from having the two that work together.
    Once I have all 3 buffs I like to shoot and mark the monster with L2 + R2 and let the kinsect attack and release the dust so while you're attacking you can either do extra damage with the kinsect, it's elements and dust or get yourself some healing powder and call it back before it's bar runs down because you get some extra energy on the bar if you call it back before it runs out. Then rinse and repeat.
    Another thing I like doing is hitting R2 inbetween my combos on a downed monster which uses the back of the glaive to mark it and release the powder and while you're mid combo you will end up hitting it and adding extra ailment damage. Sometimes you can get at least 5 dust on a head before the monster gets up depending how long it stays down.
    It's great to use the healing one when in a team as well because it will leave the green dust around the area for people to hit at anytime. I get the buff highlight at the end a lot using this method.

But still continues the infinite combo the best way to start the combo is neutral triangle since it does the double hit to start out then triangle again followed by a neutral circle for another double slash if repositioning isn't necessary. Hopefully that helped yu maximize your dps

    Excellent tutorial... FYI tho: you keep yourself in the air if you land the final hit of each arial combo... Also when mounted on a monster instead of mashing Triangle to get 1 damage on the body or face you can hit Thumb-stick + Triangle up or down in the direction you want to do multi slashes for more damage but it depletes a lot of stamina so watch your bar while doing this...

    insect Glaive tip: Get all buffs and spam R2+X then O in the direction of the monster. Depending on your glaive, you'll do a couple hundred per. And with max stam I'm usually able to do 5, and then the triangle attack. After that, your buffs will likely run out. Rinse and repeat to not only do great damage, but also to easily break wings and back.

    Two things I would like to add. First when you have your triple buff, (red, white, orange) when doing aerials, you can keep going till you run out of stamina. Second, for gaining the buffs each monster is different, red buff must be from when the monster attacks, this could be head claws or tails, White is from the monsters main source of mobility, legs wings and orange is the rest of the body but not the tail.

    You missed a thing about it: the insect glaive also allows you to crawl up plant walls without having to put it away, just jump against the wall with R2+X and the character will stick to it using the glaive, from this point you can continue scaling the wall pressing X (consumes stamina) or launch yourself in an aerial combo with O

  • @niscent_
    @niscent_ Před 3 lety

    here are some more specific details i learned about that weapons that i didn't see in the video.
    the infinite combo shown around 9:50 is wrong. you want to do specifically the Y->Y->B (for ps controllers, Y is triangle, B is circle) infinite combo because it has much lower recovery time and better dps. that specific combo allow for more variations to reposition. you can use the backward B after any hit aside from the B in the base combo (so Y->back B->... or Y->Y->back B->...) you can literally spam Y->back B->Y->back B->... for dps while moving backward, when you mess up and go past a monster's head or tail for example. the forward B can be used instead of the neutral B as you said for turning and gap closing, but keep in mind neutral B in the base combo also allows for some slight turning while staying in place. and my final tip for ground combo is to always finish with the tornado slash, the last hit got the highest motion value of the weapon and can also be used as a cheap wake up, it comes out either after any B attack (aside from itself) or after the rising slash (first neutral Y), slowest recovery, but can be canceled with jump or roll. you wanna spend as much time as possible working around that ground combo and it's variations, air combat is for utility (mounting to help your friends) or when monsters are hard to dps on the ground (flying, ground aoe, moving too fast, etc).
    for air combat, the Y with red buff is you absolute best attack, but it forces you to land right where you stand. air Y deals the most damages, without buff it also build up 4 times more mount than air B, and with buff each hits cause mount build up, easily reaching 8 times more mount than air B. air B only build mount on the last hit and can bounce you up only 3 times regardless of stamina, spamming it can be great for ailment build up or breaking wings. a general advice is to use A and B in the air to slowly look for a really well placed high up Y that will saw the monster in half from top to bottom, and just followup with ground combo.
    damn i wrote more than i expected...

  • @DangerKiwi
    @DangerKiwi Před 4 lety

    Just some friendly tips and some advice about the new moves in Iceborne that aren't shown in this vid from a IG main with about 450ish hours of playtime!
    (Sorry for such a long read. It is worth it I promise. I have all the button combos for all platforms, including the somewhat forgotten PC race. If it's not, um, I'll give you a very crisp Hi-Five and/or a nice slap on the ass as a compensation for your time)
    1. Triple Buff
    I would say to always run with the triple buff because I run with lvl 4 earplugs as much as I can, and not being knocked out of the sky by a roar is really nice quality of life and allows you to keep the onslaught of constant damage going. Plus after a while of playing the glave, collecting the three buffs is pretty fast, only about 5 to 10 seconds. Now to a speed runner every second counts so it makes sense why they don't run with it but to a casual player, we can take an extra second or two to get it.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    2. How to maintain Constant damage (Constant boinkage)
    I play a hybrid play style with both being on the ground and in the air. If the monster is enraged, highly mobile and smacking hard, I go about 70-80% of my attacking time in the air and the latter 30-20% doing ground work. If the monsters moves are predictable, slower and isn't doing it big boy hits, then I go about 25-35% in the air and the last 75-65% smacking monsters on the ground with my glorified pole vault spear. Reason being why I still do many air combat is also for element/ailment damage. Since the hits are faster and more continuous, it is better for applying elemental/ailment damage.

    3. NEW ICEBORNE MOVES
    a) Kinsect got some new drugs to play with (New moves)
    So now you can power up your kinsect as well with buffs (two of them). They are obtained by what type of slinger ammo you have currently. If it is a drop from a monster (Piercing Shot, Dung pod, slinger thorn, etc), then It is an attack boost on your kinsects attacks. If it was from the enviroment (Crystal Burst, Bright Moss, Stone, etc) then It boosts your kinsect's Stamina bar. [It should be mentioned that some IG come with a perk that it doesn't matter what type of ammo you get, it'll apply both no matter what].
    i. You power up your kinsect by one, having the ammo loaded up in your slinger
    ii. Draw your weapon (Kinsect can be deployed or just chillin on your arm, doesn't matter)
    iii. Press LB/L1 or C for us PC players and press both of your attack buttons at the same time (Y+B/Triangle+Circle or Left and Right Click together)
    iv. Doing so will consume one ammo from your slinger and your kinsect will be powered up for a amount of time (haven't timed it but I assume its also about 90 sec)

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
    b) Clutch Claw new mechanic (This one is for all weapons, not just IG. Yayyyyyyy!!)
    So now you can also grab onto the monster to do some neat stuff with your weapon and your slinger to do the big damage. If you grab onto the monsters head, you can yeet the monster into a wall with your slinger to do some big boy damage (anywhere from 200ish to 1200ish) when it hits the wall and it'llknock it over too so you can wail onto it there. The monster has to not be enraged (look onto the mini map to see whether or not it's enraged. If the icon on the bottom of the monster symbol is yellow, that b*tch can be Mcfukin Yeeted. If red, well uh, Mission Failed, We'll get them next time they calm down) and you need at least one slinger ammo shot. (It will consume all of them but one is fine. You can also weaken any part of the monster's body based on where you attached to get the nice multipliers for damage. (Do it as much as reasonably possible, Your team mates will love you and its a good team play) Now how do? This is how do.
    i. How to Yeet.
    1. First make sure monster isn't angry about life
    2. Get some Ammo for the yeetin process. Doesn't really matter which type it just had to come from the ground or the monster. (Cannot be Flash pods, Dung pods, etc [Stuff from your equipment])
    3. Make sure the monster is somewhat close to a wall for it to be yeeted into (idk maybe about 5 to 8 rolls away to a wall)
    4. Clutch Claw onto the monsters head. (It has to be the head)
    a) Press LB/L1 or C for us PC players (If your are a IG/Bow/Bowgun press q after pressing c to bring up Slinger reticle)
    b) Press RT/R2 or Right Click to shoot out your claw (you have to be somewhat close for it to connect just an FYI)
    c) Now is the monster facing the wall? If it is then Fire Out your ammo into the bastard and get the big bonkage. If not then...
    d) Hit B/Circle or Mouse 4 until it is facing wall. Then yeet the big boi into the wall. (Note if you hit the monster more than 3 times, it will become enraged and you cannot finish the move. At least not this one. You can just do the other one down here vvv)
    * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
    ii. How to tenderize your Big Monster Friends
    1. Clutch Claw onto the Monster.
    a) Press LB/L1 or C
    b) Press RT/R2 or Right Click
    c) Now simply press Y/Triangle/Left Click to weaken said area. And boom! You did It!
    Note:
    i. Heaver hitting weapons only need to do this once to target area. Other weapons will need to do it twice
    ii. Also Note that if monster attacks with said part you are on (Tail swipe if on tail, Bite if on Face, Claw Scratch if on Arms, Big Whooshy Flap if on wings, Etc) you will get knocked off of the monster and you will be dealt the full damage said attack would have inflicted if you were on the ground. Also if the Monster yells and you don't have earplugs you will just get thrown down (no damage, just hurt feelings)
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
    3) How to Become Literally Project Thor and Projectile Yeet yourself into the ground At MACH McFUKIN 10
    i. Okay first off, you gotta be in the air. Thor comes from the sky, not the ground you silly silly goose
    ii. Then simply press RT/R2 or Mouse 4 To BOMBLISTABLAST the monster from the sky with your glorified pole vaulting spear FROM GOD!!!!! (do note its not straight down so give yourself about 1 dash length away from target area of hit [Also this works at any height sooooooo have fun with that in the coral highlands])
    iii. Next press Y then B/triangle then Circle/Left then Right Click For a nice starting combo to give'em a good o' smackaroo
    iv. Then any other combo after that doesn't start with B/Triangle/Right Click.
    This move is a great Arial combat finisher move as it doesn't build mounting damage, will release you kinsect for Sweet Krispy extra damage while you do your combos and it has a good chance to flinch or even KO the monster too. Also It is good for positioning around the monster while in ground attack mode. Let's say monster is down and you're by the tail but need to do damage to head, then vault up into the air, do an air dash (A/X/Space), then Spear down to start combo there. Es pretty Good in my opinion.
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
    4. One Considerable Buff to IG
    So remember the Downwards Sideways Spinning Helicopter attack (Triangle/Y/Left Click while up in ait)? Yeah, that got a nice buff. Before It would only hit three times max as you were going down the monster, now it hits as many times as it wants so long as you are still going down and there is still monster there. So great move to do when monster is up on its hind legs doing a charging attack. Also a bunch of mounting damage too.
    Okay that's all, Thank you for reading, hope you have a Lovely day and wish you all zee best.
    If you see me on PC by the name of Kiwi/Danger Kiwi with an IG, feel free to say hello!

    This game has so many tutorials, it's so overwhelming with so much being thrown at you. I chose this weapon from the start of the game, it was a true struggle until the end with the Great Jargas fight. I feared for my low quantity of potions and the few remaining minutes I had left to finish the quest for how incompetent I was with this weapon. This video is amazing and I now understand all there is of it, my execution needs more hands on training, but this video led me in the right direction. Thanks bud!

    He only regains some energy if he returns with a buff, after that it regenerates slowly. The buffs are also slightly increased based on the combos. As in the red buff damage will be better with another buff with it, compared to being the only buff, with all three the buffs are all greatly improved.

    Dude thank you for this. I started off with the dual blades, but after I saw video evidence (not this video) of this weapon in action I fell in love. However, I had no idea about the buffs, and kind of just used the Kinsect as an extra healing mcguffin. I went on to murder/blender the Puki-Puki six times, Tobi-Kadachi eight times, and the Anjanath five times, all with no idea how to properly use my weapon. Now that I've seen this, it's definitely going to change how I play. That red damage buff is the real game changer, and I'm going to going after it like an Anjanath's backside when I need one more tail to complete the set! :D

  • @Heartdrive
    @Heartdrive Před 5 lety +1

    Unless I missed it i dont think you mentioned that when youre mounted on a monster you can do more damage than other weapons because if you switch between the positions on the monster you automatically do a bunch of attacks as you transition. Which is great for severing tails if you switch between the tail and the body repeatedly. Same with if you want to target the head. just switch between the head and the body =]

I think different drones do different things like elemental resistances ... Some may remove attack/red buff for a blue buff that increases poison resistance but keeps white buff... Yet to play around with glaive ... I like to swap between weapons im not one for staying with the same weapon constantly.

      @Xzentein Před 6 lety +7

      Critical strike chance. Positive affinity is critical strikes, negative affinity is negative crit damage (drastically reduced damage). And it's only as important as your play style dictates it is

    • @TheStrategist314
      @TheStrategist314 Před 6 lety +6

      Affinity is critical hit chance. Weapons have a certain percentage by default. The higher the percentage, the better chance you have to do extra damage. **IMPORTANT** if it's negative, it can actually take away from your damage per second. Armor/charms/decorations can counter balance or add to your affinity.

    Easily the most fun weapon in the game. Also, it's best to buy multiple kinsects and have a different element for each so you can easily switch depending on the monsters weakness. I have 4 so far, a fire one, a thunder one, an ice one and a water one. Upgrade them all and then switch freely, a lot better than changing elements on the same one because you need sacks to constantly do that.
    Also, each buff isn't tied to a body part specifically but to the function of the body part. Red=body part monster attacks with, so Diablos tail gives you a red buff while some other monster tails wouldn't, and monsters that use their claws, hitting those would be a red buff. So tail doesn't mean heal. White=mobility, so legs and wings. Orange=Armoured protected parts like the back, and other hard parts. Since most monsters if not all use their heads for attacks, heads will always give red, but if there was a monster who didn't use his head to attack, there'd be no red buff from the head.
