  • In our last game of $1/3, things didn’t go as well as we'd hoped. Well we're back at another $1/3 game, and this time we're getting revenge! This session includes one of the biggest pots I've ever won for almost $2,000!

    Great session. I started playing seriously about 6 months ago and have been consuming all the poker content I can to improve my game. Your videos are incredibly helpful and entertaining!
    Keep up the great work 💯

      I'm glad they're helpful to you, Tasty! I'm still learning myself and definitely make my fair share of mistakes, but watching my hands to put these vlogs together had really helped me to be honest with my play and improve. And we are definitely in some kind of golden era of poker vlogs, there are suddenly so many of them!

    Huggie!!!!! Now that's a session!!! Excellent lay down with the Jacks in my opinion as well. Had to lay down a set in my last session myself. Congrats on the climb as far as your goal goes as well. I know you'll make the 25k in no time! Just keep playing your game and I'll continue to take notes. My goal at this point is to simply make enough to get to play once a week until I get better at the game. My bet sizings have got a long way to go, but I'm learning alot. Keep up the great work brother and good luck at the tables!!!

    • @HuggiePoker
      @HuggiePoker  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks, Ray! Laying down a set is hard, unless it's maybe a 4-to-a-straight/flush type of board, so good on you for making that lay-down (assuming it was correct). I think I can hit $25k soon, it just depends on how much time I get to continue playing since my time is pretty limited at the moment. Appreciate the sweat and kudos!

    Glad the K6s worked out. I was definitely worried with the nut flush draw was out there with 2 callers. Not to criticize anyones play but I think the villain can fold jacks there vs 3 players… especially when your shove is pretty strong when you have the option to call and see a guaranteed turn

    • @HuggiePoker
      @HuggiePoker  Před 2 lety

      Yeah, the nut flush draw was my main concern at the table. I was least worried about the big stack having that based upon the action at the table, so I didn't mind getting it in vs. one of the smaller stacks potentially being on that draw since the loss would have been smaller vs. them. I _was_ surprised to see the overcall by the big stack in the end though, and I'm curious as to what he had since he mucked. My best guess is a smaller flush draw, or perhaps a pair+draw.

  • @dougmccuskerpoker
    @dougmccuskerpoker Před 2 lety +2

    Great day at the office, your best play IMO is 4 betting with AK. It is important to stay aggressive, he could easily fold hands with a ton of equity like TT and even JJ. Maybe not in Texas 😂. Raise that challenge!

    • @HuggiePoker
      @HuggiePoker  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks, Doug. I'm still trying to get past that "scared money" feeling when I get deeper at these match-the-stack games. There may be something to be said for leaving and coming back later w/ a fresh starting stack if that feeling is too overwhelming.

    • @HuggiePoker
      @HuggiePoker  Před 2 lety +1

      Also, to your point about the challenge, I'm going to try to hit the $25k first before modifying it. Hopefully it happens soon!

    Huggie I wouldn't announce your expert poker skills by asking about a "dead raise". Different casinos have different rules about this; I think the most common is that an all-in raise has to be at least 50% more than the last raise to be live. Great session and vlog as always!

    • @HuggiePoker
      @HuggiePoker  Před 2 lety

      Yeah, I haven't run into this scenario often enough at The Lodge to be sure what the ruling was. I believe it's 50% like you said now that I've run into it. I tried to keep the language neutral, although asking the question at all is going to have people make assumptions about my holding. It ultimately didn't matter what the answer to the question was since I pushed all-in, but it felt like vital information to know before making a decision.
      Thanks for watching and for your feedback!

    • @davidwalsh8673
      @davidwalsh8673 Před 2 lety

      @@HuggiePoker Forgive my ignorance, but why were you able to shove after the "dead raise" was confirmed? Why are you allowed to raise there?

    • @HuggiePoker
      @HuggiePoker  Před 2 lety

      I hadn't acted from the original bet yet (remember that I checked first and had no money in the pot at this point), so the dead raise didn't impact my choices. I still have the choice of folding, calling, or raising, just as I would in any hand. If I called though, whether or not the opponent's all-in was a dead raise would potentially impact what the original bettor behind me could do. In this case, if I just called, the original bettor would only be allowed to call, not come back over the top with another raise. I just wanted to be able to accurately determine my options before figuring out what to do.

    I definitely get what you mean on that jacks hand I had something similar happen where it would've been 3 way all in pre flop I had Queens but folded. Other 2 players had kings and aces. Queen on the flop and queen on the turn. Would've stacked both players with quads and scooped about a $1500 pot

    • @HuggiePoker
