My grandfather collects Case knives, mostly trappers, but he will buy almost any Case knife. He has probably around 3,500 knives. They’re in cases along the wall, in the coffee table, he even has a rotating 4 side stand that he bought from a knife show. I could pick up any of those knives and ask him to tell me about it and he would be able to tell me everything about that knife in a matter of seconds. So much attention to detail and passion for the hobby.
i am 14 and i carry a case medium stockman all the time and grandpa has carried on for 21 years
My favorite pattern is a Barlow. My grandpa gave me one and have cherished it since then. Bring back memories everytime I see one
I'll never forget my grandfather teaching me to whittle. "DID YOUR MAMA TEACH YOU TO HOLD A KNIFE LIKE THAT?!?!... GIMME THAT!"
Miss him terrible! ⚔
Same man. Grandfathers are how we learn to be men (and women), who are equipped to succeed
Well my outdoorsy grandpa died and my other one is a city guy so... yeah not happening with me... oh and did I mention he lives in Mexico?
Linden Arden I understand same here.
my old man would say "only pussys get cut cuz they hold a knife like its a rabbid dog"
My grandfather gave me a couple of Case knives. He thought highly of them. Show him a knife... "Oh, that's a Case? That's a good knife let me see that."
Havent seen or thought about a Texas Toothpick since I was a child. Ordering one now!!
I love the texas toothpick!!!!!
Love the toothpick as well.
@@rongarza1974 Wow, If they were liner locked and assisted opening I'd go broke buying every variant... 🤑 Takes balls to charge the same for an A/O as an auto in this day and time... but I do dislike aluminum scales and there aren't a ton of aftermarket options, even for Kershaw. My attempts with grip tape, ect have brought inconsistent results. If changes in the law since Case opened and closed have caused difficulties in sourcing materials then I'm certainly not above ponying up my share for more desirable level of function and aesthetic. My only suggestion to Case would be to change the "integrity" slogan. Sounds like a gun company experimenting with safer slogans for the appeasement of advertisers, or the NRAs advice to "Pick your battles." And in spite of their warranty the current reputation for quality control reminds me of something my grandfather said, "If you don't have time to do it right the first time, when will you have time to do it again?" Saying "Just send it back." too often bites you in places you dont want you knife to open or close accidentally. 😅 We'll see when it gets here!
@@lindenarden667 I have AO knives, and Spydeco (sp?), and I like them a lot. However, been carrying case since I was a kid, and I am not not old. I carry a case most of the time, or a Swiss Army Knife. I have a swayback jack that was a Bose colab. Love it. Get one. You will buy more. They are fun, and usable.
I like their older style of toothpick blade they used on the fishing knife.
I carried a yellow handle case trapper since I was six years old and on through the years for at least 35 years. My father carried a Case stockman forever, the bone handle was worn down so much that Lee brass pins were sticking up from carrying it. Also the blade was a quarter of an inch in height from sharpening and about half an inch shorter from sharpening
Case is not the only one who can use any kind of handle material for it's knives. Ever heard of the French company Laguiole?
All hand-made gentlemans slip-joint knives, really beautiful.
Very excited to be able to date the case knife my grandfather gave me when I was 10. His brother got it in 74 for him and now someday I will be able to pass it down to my niece.
Case is honestly my favorite. Such a great company.
I love the Canoe with the curly maple. Also, Case, if you're listening, I'm sure I speak not only for myself but also for the people when I say that we would love nothing more then to see the 20's style autos come back. We need to make it happen!
Yes! I just thought that. Would buy one instantly
Thanks for your feedback........... we have some great things planned for the future. Hope you will keep following us and let us know how we do!
@@mauryford5142 will do. I really look forward to it. Thanks for the response!
A few years ago, I didn't care to own any traditional knives in my collection. As of the last year, I have really fallen in love with them. I only have one as of now in my collection but would definitely like to get more. And as far as traditional knives, it doesn't get much better than a Case.
The Böker Classics are just as well built (if not better) and less expensive.
I've always carried a Case Whittler. I love how all 3 blades are set straight in the handle with the large main blade using both springs.
Definitely an impressive design.
When my grandfather passed I got his case slimline with red handles that he had used for so long that at first i thought the scales were black. Sharpened so much the blade was missing so much material. I carried it for two years and then it was confiscated in a school and I never seen it again. I will always live case knives
master class in salesmanship. no sarcasam the case man is an ice-veined company man and I have the utmost respect for that. will be rewatching for practice.
hey case! yall need to tighten up on QC!!! ive seen a lot of brand new knives with trashed blades and cracked handles
Not to mention piss poor blade alignment , gaps , lousy walk and talk and really crappy edge grinds .
Really enjoyed this some stunning slip joint. Well done Zac. Awesome work brother. The Sak collector 👊🏻🍻
Love the trapper but I've carried a stockman since I was five until last month when I gave it to my son.
allways carried a stockman, one for eating, one for work, and one rarely used blade for when you need an extra sharp ass blade
@leicanoct you can carry a small stockman.
Definitely like the stockman pattern, my favorite Case knife is probably the peanut but my large stockman definitely gets things done.
I just bought my first Case knife. CASE XX WR Pocket Knife Two Knife Set Twin Finn. Looking forward to using it well for many decades to come. Thank you and be well!
Love the commentary on the knives and styles. I have 4 other brothers who always carried a Case knife on the ranch. I got my first Case pocket knife when I was 6 years old and have carried Case pocket knives for the past 60 years. My question is, how can we get carbon steel back in the knives instead of the stainless steel? I would love to get at least one more Case knife during my life that had the old carbon steel blades that you could sharpen and hold an edge and turned darker the more you used it.
Thanks,
Todd Ericsson
He seems like a great guy! Good video - Trapper, Sodbuster, Copperlock, and a few other are my favorite model.
Semper fi
I just bought the sod buster. Cool knife it's just perplexing that it came out of the box with a toothy edge.
Case is truly an American icon. They were the brand that first got me into knives. My favorite pattern to carry is probably a stockman.
My favorite Case is my yellow fishing knife. It was my grandfathers who passed it down to my dad and now I take it with me every time I fish.
Case XX knives are awesome. Thanks and HAVE A KNIFE DAY !
I must admit, I never was much of a Case guy. Then, I got a Caliber composite clip blade from the Zippo/Case museum about 10 years ago. I tell you, it's my favorite knife. It weighs nothing - that's what made me buy it once I handled it. I was skeptical about the durability of the handle, but I've never managed to break it in a decade. It's light as a feather, and tough as nails.
Great video.
My grandpa has an original stockman from the 70s that we use to clean fish on our fishing trips. One of the blades is stuck closed and the others aren’t much easier but it’s still sharp as hell
The first knife I ever owned was a Case Muskrat given to me by my Grandfather for my 13th birthday. He sent it in the mail with a small card telling the story of how his own gra father had given him the same pattern knife to him the day he left for his first deployment in Vietnam. 2 tours later and he had worn and sharpened the main blade down to a steel toothpick. He still has it in his desk to use as a letter opener. I still have my own Case Muskrat but I don't carry it anymore. The main blade is worn and bowed from sharpening. After I got my current Tribal Lock, I put it up in my gun safe. One day, my own son will carry it in turn and then my grandson. At this point, the Case Muskrat is a family tradition that has been passed down across 5 generations based on oral history. Case is the company that inspired my love and passion for knife collecting, and it all started with a little 2 blade pocket knife given from grandfather to grandson.
My favorite Case pattern is the Russlock! I cant believe it wasnt brought up on this video, since it has an awesome story behind it!
Alejandro...... the RussLock is an awesome pattern and has become a staple in the Case line. Will definitely be a part of the next video if we get asked back. Thanks for your support of the Case Brand!
I have been carrying an old case Canoe knife since I was 9 years old and I am currently 37. True testiment of the quality of case knives!
I really like case knives. Got some trappers for my wife and me. Sadly, they are very expensive in Germany. A cv yellow plastic handle trapper costs about 75€
Yeah Europe’s knife prices are crazy.
Well, dang. This was my favorite video that you guys have done by far, and not just because of the nostalgia. Maury was a perfect guest, y'all need to give him his own weekly segment. In this day and age of needing a tool fast and now, I had forgotten about the gentle steadfastness of slow and deliberate. I can't think of anything more iconic than a well made slip joint. The well coveted hand-me-down knives of my youth were Case, Buck, and Old Timers. I just sent a link for your Case page to my Dad with instructions for him to pick 3 knives that he will routinely carry. The idea being that he will create his own "pocket worn" knives to pass down to my daughter and my two nephews. Thank you for making this video. So many wonderful memories have been stirred up
Shark tooth blade shape is BEAUTIFUL
I've carried a case trailing point fixed blade, deer hunting for about 30 years now. So many memories soaked into that blade. Also love a grand dad barlow. Big and beautiful.
Please, Case, for the love of the knife gods, PLEASE offer more CV bladed knives!!!! I own a lot of Case knives and love them all but I would own A LOT more if more of them were available in CV!!
The dude from Case Knives seems like a pretty cool guy.
totally hes pretty cool
The swayback is what really gets me going
Oh man, that g10-cf weave is lookin' pretty sweet!
My Pop carried a sod buster for 30+ years as his edc. Sharpened the blade so much that it was no longer safe to carry as the point no longer went into the handle.
Case needs to use more of their CV blades.
Definitely agree.
I only use the CV blades
Umm... I thought all of them are my yellow synthetic trapper is CV
@@beephonk6250 most are SS
True story
Awesome interview, started collecting a few years back, up to 25 case knives, case trapperlock with pocket clip is my EDC, great product made in PA
Its a shame knives like old timer and uncle Henry aint what they used t be. They were damn nice too, before the company that bought em shipped it all over seas
@@codybuffoord3172 for sure, that’s why I stick to most Case and some Buck
So glad that you are doing Case knives. I've been collecting them for a while now and just love their products. Wonderful company from my home state of Pennsylvania!
My favorite case pattern is the CHEETAH. gotta love that swing guard.
Medium stockman in CV steel is my fav. Versatile with the 3 blades. Classy/traditional enough for "formal" settings, or good on the farm or for cleaning birds. Reminds me of Granddad.
"Assisted liner lock" What.
"Fliper s35v blade collaboration" Wait a second!
"Tanto blade" STOP!!!
"Second s35v blade with deep carry pocket clip" AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
I'll stick with my Benchmade.
Eric Paulsen
I can forgive them for chopping up guns BUT I can’t overlook the fact they donated to politicians that would come after them next after they kill the 2A.
@@hailtothe_rooster1572 Not to happy with Case slapping their name on Chinese junk either.
@@DK-jd8bj since when do they do that? all my cases are us made
@@DK-jd8bj they are all made in the USA. Dumbarse
Always have loved Case Knives and everything they are doing! Case Knives have been in my family for generations!
My favorite pattern is the Barlow in Caribbean Blue Bone handle.
As the host said. The Trapper is the Mac Daddy Knife and I agree with him. I carry the yellow handle Trapper. It's a beater work horse knife. My dad gave it to me and it's priceless to me. The case emblem fell out and I need to send it back so they can fix it. Still works but has caracter.
I love the sodbuster. Classic ready for work tool.
I have to say my favorite pattern would be the Congress. My grandfather got me one with the stag handle scales for Christmas when I was about 7 years old; absolutely beautiful.
I love the Cheetah pattern as well as the Sodbuster, both great.
I just gave my wife a Case knife for Christmas for her glove compartment and or purse; everybody admired the small elegant knife after she opened it. (She will use it to cut with) Knives in general have gotten big, ugly and brutal looking...Case knives are still classic , stylish down to earth. For most tasks a small pocket knife is more than enough.
People, you'll be amazed how a pocket knife in your vehicle will come in handy....especially on road trips. When picnicking, hiking, walking etc. just put in your pocket.
My favorite Case pattern is the large Stockman with CV blades! I got my first as a college graduation present to me from . . . me. The local Mom & Pop hardware store always had a case in the back with Case pocketknives, but they were not available to me growing up. When I graduated, I decided to buy the knife I had been admiring for years!
Favorite pattern is probably peanut..always good to have a 2nd blade and it's a great size for the pocket
"Tribal Lock" is my favorite Case knife
Thanks for this wonderful opportunity and to all involved. My favorite is the blade changer, but others are on my like list! Take care, "God Bless", sincerely -
I have my grandmother’s Case chef and steak knives that were wedding presents from the 1930s unused in perfect condition. Love them. Being used now.
I love the stockman. It's a classic but just recently picked up a russlock. Case is just classic. Love them
I'm a big fan of the Trapper, it gets a lot of use on the farm.
The first knife i ever purchased was a yellow handled Case trapper, still have it, still love it
Great video! My favorite pattern is the Large Stockman in CV steel. Video shared!
Love the history of this company. That Winkler is a beautiful knife!
My great grandpa passed down a case knife and I have it now
this video was a treat for the eyes, case makes beautiful knives. Keep up the good work.
I own many different Case patterns - in varying sizes, but the full size Case Trapper is my favorite.
Small Stockman, grandpa carried one all the time. I inherited it and even though it's well worn, I carry it most days.
I'm small-kine obsessed with Case Knives.
I've just purchased my first Case knife and am buzzing
My daddy had a Barlow in every toolbox he has ever owned... when he passed I was given all the tool boxes and I found the knives! All the knives where used so much that the blades where grinded down to sharpen over the last 40 years... most of them looked like toothpicks! Great stuff...
I will be buying a few more Barlow’s and some other I seen I liked thinking my daddy might might have liked them also..
Very educational video, I learned quite a bit about traditionals and Case knives as a whole!
Us Kansas men appreciate our case knives
This is one of the best videos you guys have done in a while. Love the enthusiasm from both of you and the beautiful knives on thr table.
That assisted trapped is probably going in my collection in a day or 2. Love the sharktooth.
Great video as always Blade HQ, Case is as relevant as ever, some of the best looking knives in the world, cheers
Favorite case pattern is either the peanut or the sod buster. Need to get another case knife. Learned a lot about case in this video. Thank you!
Oh man. Thanks for this video. I was hunting deer 30 years ago. I found a Case knife laying on the ground half covered in snow. I still have it somewhere. I knew it was a good knife. But it is a little big for EDC. Maybe I have a goldmine.
B-A-eutiful!!!! Blown away on the very first knife.
These are made 40 mins from me.. a plant i used to work at we coated the scales for them
I live in warren county and my family on my dads side are from turtle point. Aunt and uncle retired from Case
The buffalo horn looks super classy and sleek. Really awesome stuff
That was an awesome video! I was reluctant to watch at first but so glad that I did.
I like the classy look and the blade on that kickstart spring assist
So happy to see good old fashioned American knives making a comeback.
I carry my case knife lol, doctors knife with damascus and crimson bone. Love it.
My favorite case pattern growing up was the cheetah. Always thought it was one of the coolest folding knives. Collected a lot of them over the years. But now I’m a big fan of the back pcoket
Love the backpocket... I think it would really be top level with a good , tight lock back.
I love the case XX changer . The reason is the lockback knife has multiple blades , gut hook, saw , drop point etc. if you deer hunt this is very handy for field dressing. There are of course multiple approaches to field dressing a deer and you can do which ever one you like which may include using the saw to get thru the pelvis bone but like I said there are other ways. The gut hook is like having a zipper installed on your deer, because it is capable of pulling thru the diaphragm muscles with ease on most whitetail deers. It make the work effort pretty smooth. Nothing will stop the chore from being bloody, and the knife will clean up later easily with soapy water. I have used this knife on Turkey, ducks, Canadas, and pheasants where the drop point is nice to have.
If I could talk to the Case company I would ask them to offer more blade type attachments for example a spoon, butter/ bread knife, fork would be nice to have. Maybe a longer saw blade would be nice to have for camp. A drill or awl would be nice as well. A fire rod addition for the leather sheath would be nice.
Overall it’s a great knife and I think I have had mine for like 25-30 years now. I wish there was a way to ask Case to maybe think about a few of my suggestions for their consideration, in all companies the first thing they will ask is exactly how do we make money doing these add-on? I think there are many owners out there that actually want some of what I am describing so you kinda have a built in market out there.
Carried a yellow CV Sodbuster for well over 10 yrs. as my edc work knife. It is my favorite pattern grrr om Case. Loved that knife and will be getting another soon.
My favorite CaseXX knife is my Navy Blue Bone Copperlock.
Hey Kurt, Giveaway photo is great you da man.
I am 15 and I love the fact that knives were the first tool and the second weapon. I love what Case is doing (even though I don’t really like traditional slip joints) keep being American!
I love the barlow patterns
These are true , grandfather knives! I have a few that are handed down that still run strong!! The Clip Point is hands down my favorite blade design. I really like the new Kickstarter, if I don’t win one I’ll still end up buying one!
I HAVE OWNED A SHEEPSFOOT WOODENHANDLED CASE SINCE 1968 AND IT NOTHING BUT AN ABSOLUTE WORK HORSE. LIKE ME IT IS GETTING A LITTLE LONG IN THE TOOTH, BUT IT WILL STILL HOLD A RAZORS EDGE AND DO EVERYTHING I ASK OF IT. YOU GUYS DO NOTHING BUT GREAT WORK.
I'm a big fan of knifes and you are doing a great job bringing in interesting topics in All your videos along with cool knifes.... Love and wishes from India 🕵
I have my grandpa’s Barlow. It’s my favorite case!
(SCREW CONSTRUCTION) would make me want to carry all the time. Hell little flat heads that look like pins even would work lol
Trapper is my favorite, been carrying them since I was a kid!
Not quite sure what type of case it was, but when I was around six years old my grandfather took me over to show me his “real men’s knives” he pulled out an old case knife from the early sixties complete with all the scratches, wear, and patina that you can only get from real use. I’ve always thought of that as one of the coolest representations of a knife with a story or two
Daniel..... that is a great story and I know a great memory for you. One of the coolest parts about my job is talking to people about their knives and the stories that go along with them. Often is was their Dad's, Granddad's or given by someone special. I often say, 'man if that knife could talk, what stories it would have!'. Glad you have a great memory and a great knife. Hopefully you will have someone special to share that with...... or get a new one and start a new tradition :-). Thanks for your support of the Case Brand!
Want to grab a SG Case! The Trapper is on my belt all the time! You got it right, Texas and Case knives go hand-in-hand.
My old man has carried the same case knife for probably 50 years, and its still going. Amazed he hasn't lost it.
The blades are so thin now there almost like needles...lol
Same.My Dads knife blade is so skinny. He has sharpened it so much. I will ask my dad, hey do you have your knife on you? He always says, "I'm wearing pants aren't?" Love it.
Wooooooot!!! Thank you for the video! I always love learning more about the knives you feature and getting ideas for what I should add to my collection next! Awesome video yet again! You’re killing it gentlemen! I can’t wait to order my proper and kalashnikov from you guys tomorrow!
Own 2 limited run butterbeans, a small Texas toothpick, and a limited run Muskrat. Fantastic quality
Slimline Trapper! Been carrying this one for the last 5 years and was my first Case... love this knife!
My grandfather carried a Case, my father carried a Case, and so do I. Great knives.
My favorite Case Knife is the full size Sod Buster!!
I love that kick start trapper lock.
