      @@DoggoWillink Lucid is still upper luxury and is not the model 3 market at all, it competes with the model S - though much more expensive at this time. It is a long way behind regarding a "affordable" car (50k is not affordable, but is attainable). The big problem for Lucid is that they have styled it exclusively for the US market and in Europe if looks like it has a huge and unsightly arse. Just look up the Ford scopio story in the UK to understand how Europeans really don't like that styling. Even if I could buy/afford a Lucid, and I believe the quality and tech is there, it looks so ugly to me - that is personal of course and does not matter - but I worried when I saw it - it is not an international design.

    great review! a few things from someone who is now on my second Model 3 (gave the first one to my son):
    1. In the USA at least, it does not come with two necessary items that you HAVE to add:
    1a. there is only a 110 v connector in the trunk charger pack. You have to buy a 220v connector such as NEMA 14-50 - $50 but that is what I use to charge it. Don't want to find out the "hard way" that it will take over a day to charge it (at the 110v rate).
    1b. also in USA at least, does NOT come with HomeLink garage door opener module. Has to be added by service dept for an extra $350. The first M3's came with them, but no more.
    2. the car really is faster than published. check it yourself. Long range is UNDER 4 seconds 0-60, but you can go faster for $2,000 more.
    3. Though it looks cool, IMHO, don't get the white interior. you will stain it the first time you wear new Levis.
    4. How many cars can you just push a button that is already under your thumb and say "turn on heated steering wheel". Wonderful!
    5. Get used to looking over your knuckles on the steering wheel for the MPH/kph. then press the cruise control and let the fricking car worry about it. (it's an intermediate step to self-driving cars - which WILL take some getting used to.)

    The changes from July to the grant makes the LR a €70k car if you use the Tesla/AIB finance. It’s simply too much - be it the best EV or not. Little wonder the ID4 is flying out of the garages - a practical family car at a tiguan price, everything bar the drag time party trick :)

    • @MrBucko1990
      @MrBucko1990 Před 2 lety

      The ID4 finance rate is actually higher then the Tesla rate via AIB. As with many VWs the interest rate falls as the spec and car price goes up. 5.9% on VW ID entry level. 4.9% on Tesla. The big difference is the amount of loan your paying interest on for many of the ID4 versions which start at €35k vs. €48k.

      @@MrBucko1990 I agree. I dont even like the look of it, It's a fat model 3. I would consider buying a 7 seat version though, but it's pricey as it is. There is a lack of choice with 7 seaters. Tesla just offered me a great trade in for my leaf so m3 would work out less per month than what I currently pay on the leaf. Downside is its £3k a year to insure with my Mrs on the policy. The thought had crossed my mind to get a new Mrs. 😀

    Brilliant work Mark , love the model 3 . The auld lefty liberal government cut grants on EVs over 60 k and while the long range is shown on the website at under 60k it’s actually not accurate as that’s the old price shown with grants included , cars actually 64/65 now . How do you find the ride quality on the 19s ? Better than a id4 ? Rougher ?

    ET5 to dominate the entire entry-to-mid luxury sedan segment no doubt ! If you look at the quality (no gap between panels and no mismatched colors like Tesla cars), interior design and materials used, build quality, craftmanship, utility, range (topping Model 3's long range 334 miles) even in base model of ET5 already provide 341 miles (550 km) per full charge) not to mention highest trim's 1,000 km per full charge that is a whopping 621 miles!, service quality (where Tesla let you wait for months for available parts), upgradable batteries (where Tesla let you have your depleting batteries), exclusive NIO Houses and Places that let you enjoy exclusivity and enjoy time off from other things (which Tesla does not provide any Tesla clubs - you wish), and many other goodies of being an owner of a NIO. This is just no-brainer. I just don't see why Tesla will continue to dominate now that NIO's ET5 has said its "Hello World !"

    In my opinion, Tesla is very overrated. Quality is a disaster, support from Tesla in case of problems is a disaster. Not to mention extremely expensive spare parts. Find out how much it costs, say, the rear bumper. I guarantee you will be dizzy at the cost of extraordinary service out of warranty. Tesla needs Japanese and German engineers to dedicate themselves to quality. In general, the synonym "Made in USA" means a problem at all ends and, above all, arrogance. greetings
