Unearthing Secrets: Unveiling The Mystery Of An Ancient Stone Home Foundation

- Today we investigate an old stone foundation of a home that dates to the mid-1700s. This is the same foundation where I dug out a groundhog hole and found a U.S. Belt buckle and other relics from the American Civil War a few years ago. I also found a bald face hornet nest while searching the area.
About Aquachigger:
I enjoy metal detecting for historical items like gold coins, relics, silver coins, and other buried treasures. I also metal detect for gold and silver nuggets and even meteorites. I like to make videos that promote my choice of lifestyle that includes outdoor adventure,
metal detecting, yapping, searching for river treasure, SCUBA diving, exploring abandoned places, hiking, caving, caring for animals and pets, and observing the things outdoors that often go unnoticed by most people who are not familiar with outdoor adventures and nature. I keep my CZcams "Aquachigger" channel family-friendly and hope you subscribe if you like my style.
BTW, you can also catch me here, / chiggsarmy ,but I may get a little edgier there. FB isn't a place for kids anyway...lol.

Here is a quick little adventure. I wasn't planning to metal detect this day, but did. I hope you enjoy the little adventure!
Here are links to two other videos that I talk about in this video:

czcams.com/video/SzH2zvE5E-I/video.html Snakes In The Well
I have a problem with snakes, but just gotta watch to see your reaction!
Hey! Aquachigger. Point the metal detector to the hornets' nest ... you know, for the "content "
Wonder why we don't eat oysters like they did back in the day?
@@chevychase3103 Because they were cheap or free, now they are 2 bucks a go.
I have a theory on the burned nails not being rusty. Rust is oxidization, and the fire burns all the oxygen and the nail sits in charcoal and acidic ash protected from air, so an oxygen free atmosphere until you find it.
Chig, you should raise a mess of groundhogs. Put them to work digging holes for you. They seem to bring up decent relics. They could be "Chig's Army" 😅
Groundhogs are friends, beavers are NOT! 😂
@@ShanaAdams Especially Rabid ones. We have an ongoing issue with beavers digging in the banks of our man made pond. I expect one day they will breach the wall and drain the entire pond.
This video is even more proof that just because a spot seems to have been searched there still could be some treasures
Awesome finds!
The nails you find in fired areas have gone through a “heat treating” process which increases the resistance to some level of corrosion but not all.
Aloha Chigg, Thanks for taking us along! Each piece has a story.
Wow, I'm early! First time I've received notice this early. Time to get the popcorn and an adult beverage!
Just poured up some crown apple! cheers!!!
@@JayDeeFrm7400Cheers!
I've dug alot of old cellar holes here in the Northeast.....always great to watch you diggin' away and explaining as you go. Thank you Chigg!
What an intriguing location. There could be all kinds of stuff there. That lock was really cool 😎. I look forward to seeing your follow up 😊
Site could make an interesting series! Maybe get a team to dig up a bunch of units at once
@offtheranch invited you to Texas to go cave diving!! You should go!!
I have not been able to contact him. I tried.
I've started paying attention to the number of subscribers channels that I watch have since I recently started a channel. Over 1.14M subs is really an incredible accomplishment. Congratulations on all your hard work!
Hello Chigg, would really like to see more of this place. Could be a great spot to hunt. Thanks for sharing. Take care 👍
I would love to have that old pottery dish shard's to make jewelry with and share the history of it . Thanks for sharing your awesome videos ❤️❤️❤️❤️⚒️🇺🇸🗝️😊
The finds are awesome, Chigg! I do love that lock!!!❤
I'm glad you're doing still photographs of the finds too!
At the beginning of the video along the driveway there are some plants with a green flower spike. That is the common plantain I mentioned in your 1st yellow jacket video that is good for taking the pain from hornet stings. It would have been nice if those people who were sifting would have taken there junk with them. Thanks for another adventure!
Now concerning the fire pit / burnt layer, the guy from below the plains who digs bottles said folks would toss their old & broken bottles in the privy /outhouse and their coals from the fire to help with the odor. Something to watch out for. the darker organic looking layer often indicates a privy. That's a cool place to scratch around, you need to go back there.
Chiggs awesome finds digging in your friends yard. I think you need to go back after all the bees hibernate. Loved the lock and the spoon and flat button. There has to be bottles there.👍😀👏
Thanks for sharing another adventure 👍
So cool! I love the old time Willow dishes, or blue type dishes!
Pretty cool things..nice spoon and lock plus had fun watching you having fun...❤
A great place to do more investigating!
Awesome day chigger love love the thing hope you come back again and find some good stuff getting tired get node find something good.👍
Cool finds chigger nice button. I love to dig in places like that. Never know what you will find
History is awsome! Thanks for another great video!
Can't wait to see more!
Thanks for sharing your adventure, Chigg! An awesome video as always. Those groundhogs are probably keeping the good stuff to themselves. I'm sure that you know that the hornet's nest is worth more than anything that you have dug at that site so far.
I remember that spot with the ground hog excavator and civil war buckle. Pretty awesome spot.
Good morning thx for the show I'm about to watch❤
Really enjoyed this video. Will keep it family friendly, but why are there so many jerks out there! I hope more people realize this is one of the reasons you don't divulge your sites. You were amazingly calm. I believe the spoon pattern is called "Fiddle", popular to this day and dates back to the early to mid 18th century as does the feather edge. I appreciated your explanation of why some of the early nails are smooth and reddish.
There was a lot to learn in this video, and it was over with way too soon! Thank you, Professor Beau.
So many interesting finds even though there were no gold coins! More time well spent.
Can’t beat boots on the ground and finding some shards and foundations. Another classic Chigg!
Great spot could be many many treasures to be unearthed there
Very interesting place!
I would be metal detecting the heck out of that site! No matter how much junk you pull out of there eventually the good stuff's going to start appearing!
Awesome.
I remember you going down that ladder in the well and those snakes I was afraid you were going to be bit. That was a nice old lock , thanks Chigg .
Keeping Real Mr . Beau 😊👍
Awesome finds it’s fun watching you look
Keep a rocken love your showes
Good deal Chigg be safe and GOD BLESS
Nice hunt 👍👍❤️
Chigg,
Punxsutawney, Pa. has that famous ground hog day.
He sees his shadow or not and decides the weather.
Well, at the original celebrations they COOKED and ATE them!
Whether the Weather got better or worse,
I know not!
Groundhogs helped you on this trip!
What's the difference between a Groundhog, a woodchuck and an Eastern Marmot??
Chigg probably know, but who else knows?
Cheers,
Rik Spector
great video thank you ❤👍
I liked the gate hinge you found early in the dig and that brass corner could be of a traveling case, Olde spoons had their bowls sweated onto the handle. Made in two parts.
Your very knowledgeable about the pieces of the past left over in the ground.
I would of never known about the small piece window glass.
I enjoyed the hunt Chigg. 🇺🇸
Very interesting Place👍🏻
You may need an Excavator there 😀🍀
I would absolutely love to dig that with you, as would most of your viewers I imagine. There could be a cellar there with unbroken bottles and other things in it. I can't imagine all the awesome 1700's-1800's stuff still in the ground!
great treasures
Cheers from Nova Chigg
thank you
Just a thought on the fired nails , the fire drives out most or all of the carbon .
386th like, watching this now, chigg, your videos are awesome, possum, i love metal detecting
📍Chigg you should definitely spend more time here!
Good afternoon from Southeast South Dakota
Welcome back…
I remember when you went down that well.
I have family on both forks of the Shenandoah, I think it was the railroads that made fresh oysters popular in the Valley. Shipping fresh seafood up river was just too expensive. Around the holidays oysters are still very popular with my folks. I live in MD and am always asked to bring oysters when I come home.
The Nest , is so Fairy , can see where they are .
Fairy , is Angel .
Checked out the earlier video with the snakes. Liked this one a lot better without them!
That place would be perfect to bring in a bobcat and take the top soil off then re-detect.........
I have a theory on the burned nails not being rusty. Rust is oxidization, and the fire burns all the oxygen and the nail sits in charcoal and acidic ash protected from air, so an oxygen free atmosphere until you find it.
artifacts from an old homestead where people, long ago, once lived worked and dreamed....................................
Can you send me some square nails? We only find them at old forts in Montana but your not supposed to pick them up lol. Love your content. Jealous of the stuff that is normal to you
Thanks for all you do!!
Chinaaaaa! Lol. Sounded familiar
I’d like to see the video of you going into the well with the snakes.
It is linked in a pinned video comment here.
Hey Beau ! Did you find the trash dump from either house ?
Hey Chigg. Matt from Demolition Ranch has some caves for you to explore. I'd like to see you two work together, maybe shoot some civil war style guns together after.
Ironically, bald-faced hornets aren’t actually hornets. There’s only one true hornet species in the US.
Thanks for the fun video!
@13:00 fire damage changes the composition of iron and steel, cast iron cookware that has been damaged as such is considered dysfunctional and ruined, won't hold seasoning and will never cook with same finisse ever again.........................
Chigg are you going to demolition ranch to help him with the caves he found ?
Hey Chigg you ever heard of hand made stone cannon balls used in the civil war
Chigg if you see this message let me know if you don’t mind how you got the name Aqua Chigger?????? I’ve wondered about that if it was where you stayed on the water and in the water detecting so much
Hi at the 1230 ish time you had a wedge thingy it’s part of a door hinge
Burned to turn into something like carbon (coated) steel?
Modern steels are often heat treated for various properties.
Nice finds, chigg, i dont like bald faced hornets, those are aggressive
Hey Chigg
👍⭐️😁
pay dirt. Not Just Rocks. 😎👌👍✌.
Hey chigg do you know Matt from DemolitionRanch talked about wanting to talk with you?
Yeah, I heard, I did what I could to contact him, but I guess I don't have the right contact info.
@aquachigger well I replied with some info, but it looks like it's been deleted 😥
Well, made number two 😂
S-s-s-s-snakes!!!
NICE TOO SEE THAT YOU LOVE YOUR JOB , GOOD LUCK ON THIS HUNT 😮.😊
Spencer round AKA 56-56.
I know quite a few people just like that. You find something good and if you give them even a hint of where you've went they show up in troves. No respect whatsoever.
I think the carbon in the fire and the heat hardens the nails. Making them less likely to rust.
That's could be. I'll research it. Thanks
@@aquachigger The process is similar to Carburizing. I just remember it from that's how they make early steel.
No poison Ivy out there?
Can’t blame a person for coming in behind you, but they have to get the land owners permission. If not that’s just wrong. Further, I remember the snake well. That was intense.
Plantains medicinal plant
This just goes to show, that groundhogs know nothing about the value of human artifacts
what do you mean the hornets are gone.

Please cover up that Hole.. you don’t want any kids falling in there with the snakes.
If you found a piece of old Redware in the UK you could be forgiven for believing it to be Roman Samianware.
When people trespass and do exploration of any type without permission it is no different then if you walk right into a store and take cash out of the cash register!
Yes I see your point . But the owner of the cash register has earned that money, thus they feel that loss. But when some thing has been buried for hundreds of years. Lost by someone who has been dead for hundreds of year. And their decendants have long ago moved on to who knows were. And you find something that no living soul even knows exist. Does any one feel a loss ?.
@@davidmorris4826 That's not the point. Chigg said the person who left the sifting equipment behind had apparently done the sifting without specific permission from the property owner. I stand by my comment because there was not permission by the property owner. Therefore it was a trespass.
@@oleradiodudea.m.4735 My point was no loss is felt.
i won't jump your claim beau, coinstar doesn't take relics
9:30 is that a condom?? It's in the middle of the frame.
Where are your gloves. You're always telling us to wear gloves!
