    There's actually an alternate ending to this episode, which holds on the shot of the canister floating in space with the 'CONTENTS: 2' label, and some text explains that the second polymorph (which was far less intelligent than the first) attempted to sneak-attack Lister by hiding inside his underwear drawer... where it eventually died of starvation.
    Not gonna lie, I've always preferred that ending.

      For me the 3rd and 4th eps are very funny at points, 'The Archbishop' and 'The Queen of Spain's Beard' respectively. The latter with blistering performances from both Jim Broadbent and Miriam Margolyes. At least four scenes in ep4 with those two (one with only their voices) send me into fits of laughter EVERY time!

    The shrinking underpants scene is a real contender for the title of "funniest scene in the show"; in fact, Chris Barrie had to wait 10 minutes before delivering his next line because the audience were laughing so hard at that moment. That moment aside, the entire episode is a minefield of comedic gold that gives everyone in the ensemble plenty of moments to shine, from Lister's medical equipment dinner to "ALPHABETTI SPAGHETTI?!?!". And then there's pretty much everything to do with the cast once they get their emotions drained by the Polymorph, especially hippie Rimmer and suicidally fearless Lister. All these comedic moments combined with the whole Alien homage results in this being the third fan-favourite episode in a row - and you can see why everyone says series 3 is where the show hits its stride.
    Also, since you mentioned it in passing, we'd definitely all be happy to see how two do a reaction series to Blackadder. The first series is kind of rough, but once Ben Elton joins the writing team the show finds its footing and becomes one of the best British comedy shows every created

    • @jimcook1161
      @jimcook1161 Před 10 měsíci

      Another reason to skip the first series is that it's an alternative history exercise (like novels based on the nazis winning WW2 or the South winning the US civil war). In this case, it is based on King Richard III winning the battle of Bosworth (the first episode only). So if you don't know that and anything about the war of the roses or Richard III, it won't make much sense.
