you are one of the only youtubers that actually read and respond to the comments and use our ideas. Love it man!!!!!!
I love it man and live it man. Thank u!
I'm so glad I watched this. I made one with an anchor and bungee last year. I hunt a lot of public land with some lengthy hikes. This will save quite a bit of weight on my hikes. Thanks for sharing.
My oldest son and I are completely brand new to duck hunting this season. Really enjoy the videos. One of my sons school buddies brought his jerk rig on a hunt this passed weekend. Loved it. This is the next project!
One of the best tutorials for anything, I’ve ever seen. Thank you
Just got into waterfowl hunting at the very end of this past season and absolutely loved goose hunting in the fields. This year will be my first time duck hunting and your videos have been very informational and helpful. Being from NW Ohio i can only imagine what its like in your shoes at certain times with thousands of birds flying around you.
We use 1/2 in solid fiber glass fence rods lasts alot longer than pvc and works wonders on short or long jerk rigs I've up to 20 deeks on one and the solid rod drags em back smooth as silk
Ingenious!!!! Can’t wait to try them!!!! All the materials were in the garage!!!!! Thx for the video!
I really appreciate this video and for all the beginner videos
This is AWESOME IDEA!!! My 6yr son absolutely loves watching your videos!!
Dude you are awesome! Thanks for continuing to put out these great vids. I like how you simplify everything step by step and include great humor along with it. It's great for rookies, such as myself. Thanks!
This means a lot to me! thanks so so much
Great idea I will be making them for my duck season this year. Thanks..
Thank you so much for making this video. Coming from a poor family it's hard to be able to buy a jerk rig. And loving duck hunting as much as I do, it's hard to afford all of the supplies that's needed to have a good duck hunt. So thank you, much appreciated
I agree it’s too expensive for most people to just dive into. I try to take care of my stuff so I don’t have to buy more. Thanks man I’m glad i can help for real
Your awesome brotha
The videos that you uploaded talking about what way to set up your decoys depending on the wind. I would always set up to where the wind was in my face so I would have ducks come from over my head and it is harder for them to commit and land in a spread if it isn't easy. That was also much appreciated
Just went out to get the supplies! great video, cant wait to try it!
I used a old method my Granddad taught me. I made a jerk line decoy by using a Folgers 3 lb coffee can , made a wire bail from copper wire. You run the line from the deke through the handle sink the can and wallah . Cheap but effective.
Thanks for the idea Bobby, I will have to use that this year when applicable. That will work much better than a 3 lb kayak/canoe anchor that I have seen used, but of course that was hunting out of a boat on bigger water as in the Ohio River.
i cant believe i missed this one, love the pvc idea, i have made them with a block and surgical tubing but the block sucks if your not in a boat.
Good deal, thanks for sharing the details!!
My 14 year old son and I just got into ducks here in Florida! Great video!
Love the beginner vids, best on CZcams!
Much appreciated my man!!!
Thanks for this. Good info. I tried this and i also found you don't even need the pvc pipe if your decoys are over some tall weeds. I left the Texas rigs on like you said and the rigs grabbed the weeds and the weeds acted as the pvc. They did probably move about a foot through the day but it still worked good. Had one duck come in to land in the spread and I missed miserably so this is a good trick. This was only my second duck hunt ever. Im new to this
Another great video. Thank you
Made a jerk rig of my own this weekend and worked great. Old junky baitcastvreel with 80lb braided line. No tangles and compact and quick to deploy and stow
Really great video! I'm a noob to duck hunting but going out next weekend...with my Texas-rigged jerk setup like this! Thank you
BobbyGuy always listening to heat 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Always 🙌
Super slick. Wish I would have watched it sooner. Totally ganna try this next year at the lake. Thank you.
Also, would love to see some tips and tricks on hunting late season ducks and geese
Outstanding buddy
Good set up, gonna try it when Texas season opens uo
Thank you Bobby!!!!!
Good info, thanks for this video!
Another way to save money is instead of the trot line clips go to the curtain section of Walmart and you can get cheap shower curtain clips for 98 cents per 12
Very good tip my dude!!!!!!!!!
Perfect suggestion.
a loop around the keel works better that clips
That's a good idea with the pvc never done that thanks for the tip👍...just the tip
Nice video Bobby never used a jerk rig before very helpful!
Helped a lot! Duck ID in flight like I said in the other video would be a great one to see!
Great idea!!!!!!!!!!!!
opening day is today for ga, unfortunatly im unable to go but might be able to make something happen this week. first year duck hunting so i appreciate these videos.
Definitely gonna use this I've lost two jerk rigs before due to snags this will be a money saver.
Ya man the pvc lasts forever too
What a awesome video! thanks Bro!
already liked video before starting. don't let me down
Thanks Bobby this helped a lot
No problem man glad I can help
I also dabbled a little bit with the jerk rigs and what I found was that every time i pull on the string to make movement..the string will come out of the water about 4 inches. Especially if I was set up on the bank because the land rise and you end up sitting so much higher than the water. So what I did was add a few small PVC pipes with holes in the top that I ran the string through which keeps the string hidden deep underneath the water but still allows the string to move back-and-forth. This helped a lot. Also i used a mini bungee cord between the first decoy and the string to give it more movement. Worked out real nice. Happy hunting
Great idea with the pvc! Home Depot here I come
Thanks for the video it helps a ton!
Glad I could help man!!
Awesome vid and very helpful
Great video👍👍👍 gonna make me a couple of them👍👍
Will be making one for this weekend . I gotta add you’re pretty brave leaving your yeti in the truck and walking away lol.
Love this idea! Thanks for sharing. True greenhorn here. Any suggestions on decoy set ups with calm/no wind days versus blustery norther mornings? Beautiful, sunny boating days have been the toughest hunts for me thus far.
I don't know about you guys but I'm going to get me one of them PVC polls......Thanks for the tips Bobby.
Great advice! Great video! U should do some pattern tests for 3in. And 3.5 in shells
Yup. Awesome.
Awesome sauce.
Great DIY video!
Thank you!
Man, I've been duck hunting for years, but I've always used bungie's. Glad i saw this because I'm tired of loosing anchors in the grass after that bungie breaks. I use a 2" pvc pole with bolts in one end as a blind bag/shotgun holder. If you hunt marshes and sit in the water you know there's no way to keep your stuff dry, but hanging it works. Plus it doubles as a walking stick in the marsh.
this is awesome.
Awesome vids you make. I'm a beginner, I've been hunting ducks do 3 weeks now and I absolutely love it. Iv only shot 2 ducks cent's I started. Watching your videos has helped me understand what I was doing wrong, the wind, decoy placement, you name it, I was doing it all wrong. So thank you so much for the help! I can't wait to get out and redo what I've been doing wrong and do it the right way. One question I have is can I put duck decoys and goose decoys together?
I going to make one of these.
Great vid Bobby
Thanks! I appreciate it buddy
Bobby ur videos teach me so much about duck hunting! Would love to duck hunt with you one day down here in Illinois!
I hear Illinois is good
It has its good and bad times! U otta come hunt with me and my buddys sometime this year!
Great video! another way to do it & how I do it is. get a anchor & connect a bungee cord to the anchor then connect the rope with clips to the other end to the bungee cord.
I’ve done this and as it works great the bungee wears out and becomes brittle quickly and breaks. PVC won’t wear out.
Thanks for the awesome jerk rig set up , how to. Looking forward to setting mine up and trying it out. The only problem I have here up in Maine is, I went to five Walmarts and none of them carry the nylon rope. And they are out of stock on the Trot clips on their website. But that's okay I'll figure something out to substitute. Keep doing a great job on what you're doing. :)
Just go to hardware stores and find something that’ll work! Thanks man
Very nice of you please show how you put decoys on rope
Love the videos wish I could buy some dux merch
Glad I discovered your site. The content and presentation is great. However, I have to bust on you now! Get Fred a bigger crate, Champ!
Followed your instructions and made a legit jerk rig. My hunting partners were seriously impressed. Only problem so far is the spray-paint is wearing off. Thanks for the info!
just snagged some cheap decoys but no rigs. Can you look into showing us your way of making cheap texas rigs? Keep up the great work Bobby!
Thanks
Woah, just now seeing this. Simple easy setup which I have all the stuff at home, glad I Texas rigged.
Pattern test for different chokes. Set paper or cardboard up at different distances
Bob if you were to add 2 t sections about 1ft from the top and 2ft from the top you would have a better way to wrap up the string. You could just wrap the cord around the two nobs sticking out the side. Making about a 2ft wrap each time, instead of wrapping it around the pole a million times. Just a thought to make it easier. Love the vids keep em coming!
This is a great idea. I don't understand why there are 20 thumbs down tho. It may not be suitable for every condition but it is a great idea. I'll be making one today. I have made the spreader, which I like but if you're in flooded areas, the spreaders hang up in the submerged grass and it can't function properly. This design defeats that issue. Thanks for this video.
Do a video on the different types of spreads you do in water/marshes
Hey bobby no one has a patterning test on steel shot ammo it would nice to see what ammo preforms best.
Each gun/choke combo pattern differently to different ammo. Best bet is to pattern shot yourself. Just buy 3-5 boxes of different ammo, and shoot at least 3-6 rounds to check consistency. You can go to a local grocery store (furniture/appliance stores too) and ask for large boxes that they throw away to use. Set them up about how far away you plan to shoot (20-40 yards is ideal) and compare patterns. You'll be surprised with the results.
thats gun specific so it wouldn't help everyone
Bobby do a video on how to hunt deep water. Got invited to hunt lake table rock and taneycomo for woodies and Canada’s in southern mo on the Arkansas border this year and have no idea what to expect! Besides they all say there’s a lot of bands down there
These pvc rigs are the best one thing you can do as well is right by the pvc i put a butt up so when that pvc splashes back it looks like the legs kicking painting the tip orange can help with that as well
That’s a great idea!!
We some times wont put other decoys one the stringer just a couple but ups and splash them when we see ducks it works really good and is 10X cheaper than runnng one of the water splasher decoys. if you would like to use my idea in in a video feel free to do so im all about shareing.
Side note my daughter wants to know if you cant do a funny hunting joke/pun/dad joke segment
Damn that Ed Bassmaster face you made at 4:20 made me subscribe
You could make multiple holes in the PCV pipe so if you cant push it all the way down to the top hole you can just move it down and still have it look more natural
Now to add to the movement could you put one of your mojos in the pole at the end so it looks like the spinner is moving too or would that be too much?
Would the end of pvc wiggling the littlest bit flare any ducks? Great idea so simple
Make a decoy feeding station. Flat floating board with yellow plastic corn cob hot glued and yellow plastic pieces sprinkled and hot glued to board. Glue some cob on decoy bill.
Did you make a follow up video for the confidence decoy?
Thanks! Do your decoys need to have weights on each one as well?
New viewer here so bare with me if you already covered but can you do a diy decoy raft? Or thoughts on using them?
Can you make a vid on homemade decoy anchor rigs
Do a decoy spread for early-season
Just getting into duck hunting. Love the video. Quick question. Are you leaving the weights on the Texas rig?
Do you ever issues with the cold making the pvc brittle and prone to snapping off or losing the spring? I'm thinking pvc poles may be the best way to anchor my kayak to use as a layout boat
Can you make a vid on what to keep in a blind bag
Yea, I dig those birth-control goggles! Seriously, thanks for the extra effort to show us
all the details.
Add a bungee cord to the pvc and then tie the line to that 👌🏼
If you are hunting small puddles or ponds, do you think it would drain out from putting the PVC in the ground?
Like to see more calling.
Hey Bobby do a vid on how to Texas right diy for cheap👍👍
Good idea
Great video but I wanted to add a suggestion. Something that will work even better than the PVC flexibility. At the 5:51 mark in the video the pink pole with orange flag. Those type of poles work excellent for flexibility. Just rip off the flag, paint the pole black or green, tie the end of the line to it.
Wage war "the river" a man after my own heart
Hahahaha
Fifth. Nice vid btw. Really want to buy one of your sweaters they look really nice
What advise would you have for hunting a area where you have seen ducks and then you get there and the wind dies and you now have 0 wind?
I’m new to duck hunting by myself using my own gear. Why not use the same string that you use on your decoys instead of string that gets more easily tangled and knotted?
Nothin much just been doing a lot of fishing lately and was wondering if you wanted to go
Can you teach us how to set up a good blind! And teach us how to scout
Bryce Darlington he’s already done a scouting video. Very useful.
I’ll have some more. A blind one coming
I know you just made a video about how to set up decoys so birds come into the wind and in front of you but I had to set up my blind one set way because of houses so what if the wind isn’t at my back?
Can you make a series on how to build a duck boat
