Yes, that's Ren playing piano at the beginning! He also composed the music for piano and strings. He directed the video and produced the music/audio. It was recorded live but it's not quite one take. They had to make a single edit, before the water, as the 'rain machine' was being tempermental. :) Yet another incredible and masterful performance from Ren and overall, an absolute masterpiece... again! :)

Ren was singing Violet's tale at the beginning. Haunting because she died as did Jimmy.

Interesting, I didn't catch that. I knew it was familiar.

It wasn't exactly the same tune but it was definitely in that style. The style of the beginning of Hi Ren too.

My theory is that this is the rich version of Screech. They share the same name after all. :)

Stopping a masterpiece performance like this, every couple of seconds, killing the flow, dramatic and emotional builds and descents, transitions and Ren's incredible performance itself, doesn't work here. There's more to both music and performance than lyrics, even when they're as beautiful, profound and poetic as Ren's. Sometimes it's best to let things flow a bit more, lose yourself in the experience a little and be carried along. For instance, the emotional and dramatic build to almost a frenzy, loses mouch of it's power, when it's stopped every second or two, usually just to repeat what Ren's just said more poetically. All this is especially true when the lyrics are clear as day and although clever and beautifully crafted, their meaning is clear too. This isn't one to puzzle out. This is one to experience. Tbh, the 'fewer pauses' approach tends to be the best approach for most music outside of pure rap/hip-hop. I'm not suggesting that you don't pause but every second or two makes it frustrating to watch, as we're watching you miss out on so much that makes a track great and/or enjoyable. If you plan on being a pure breakdown channel, then ignore virtually everything I've said but I'd warn you that there are a lot of really good breakdown channels out there, who people tend to go to if they want an insightful lyric breakdown. Irealise I may be coming across as overly presumptious but these are merely suggestions, from a nobody on the Internet. Feel free to ignore any or all of them. It's your channel and I wish you well regardless. :)

Appreciate your input. I'm not trying to be Knox Hill on the breakdowns. I do enjoy his, but he definitely has the experience on that end. I don't know what I'm walking into, so I don't know at first what the flow is going to be. I agree with you on this one, every time I hear it it moves me more. But even after pausing I got a copyright hit that I'm fighting. Crazy. I know Ren should clear it up for me.
