    Here's an exercise you can have lots of fun playing. Apparently brass players use it for warming up; I learned it for saxophone. It's in 3/4, 4 notes to each beat. The numbers refer to steps of the major scale:
    1231 2342 3453
    1231 2342 7127
    1321 2432 176♯5
    6716 7127 1231
    6716 7127 ♯567♯5
    6176 7217 6
    [It goes from major to relative minor.]

    Have you ever gotten a spit bubble during a performance?
    I get spit bubbles ALL the time. Every day. Effects either C and C#, or B and B flat. For me, probably a function of my bad embouchure. lol

      Not so much now but I've definitely had them before. I always have a water bottle nearby in case I need to have a sip of water to swallow the saliva in my mouth. 😀

    I'd like to get good at the chromatic scale, especially up high.

    very useful been playing since age eleven and I'm slightly older now---lol suffice it to say forty years, still one question: any tips on producing a trill between the high octave G (so) and the high octave A (la)? very good advice to our friend from the flute academy.

      @JaneFluteSchool  Před 9 měsíci

      You could play normal G and A and overblow to create the harmonic trill fingering. 😀

    also I think Jane is using an open hole flute? I am totally blind andcan't see it but I can hear it. very nice, I'll admit to using a flute with closed holes but the sound quality of the particular instrumnent I have is very good , I can honestly say that if I make mistakes I cna't blame the instrument----lol any discussion on those who prefer open hole or close hole? why not have an interesting discussion I'm watching this because I have spent so many years playing the same things and the same way that I want to make sure I keep my skills sharp.

      I personally can't hear a difference between closed hole flute and open hole flutes that are of the same quality. I know of professional flute players that play on closed hole flutes so it is definitely just a personal preference.

    I noticed when I play fast on flute it starts to move around a lot how can I fix this

      Hi Joaquin,
      With your left hand, push the flute towards yourself when playing, whilst your right hand thumb pushes outwards. This will provide a bit of pressure where your embouchure is, so it will help you keep your flute stable when playing. 😀

  • @potapotapotapotapotapota

    my tip is to learn how to improvise over all your scales so you become intimately familiar with them

    • @MyRackley
      @MyRackley Před rokem

      Take a simple tune or pattern through the keys, ideally through the circle of 4ths. e.g. the B section of "One Note Samba" by Jobim. It's basically two natural minor scales.

      Hi there!
      I'm pretty sure mine is a Muramatsu EXIII but I'll have to double check that with my records. 😝
