Kai Havertz’s move from Chelsea to London rivals Arsenal being completed has inspired us to go back in time and look at some superstar players who have made direct moves to rival clubs. Here are 10 footballers who moved to direct rivals.
In this video, though, we’ll only be looking at direct moves. So, players like Fabregas and Aubameyang, although having played for both Arsenal and Chelsea, won’t be featured in this video because they both first moved to Barcelona before then moving to Chelsea. Let’s get right to it then.

There appears to be some honorable mentions. First up is the R9. He played with 2 big clubs from Spain and Italy, who really hate each other. They started with Barcelona, then having a tough season with Inter Milan due to the injuries, then moved to Real Madrid as Galacticos, and after another difficult season, he joined AC Milan and didn't have a good season due to none other than injuries.
Michael Owen also had played for 2 greatest clubs in England. Raised as one of Liverpool legend, he was transferred to Manchester United back in 2009, after spending some years with Real Madrid and Newcastle United. Wayne Rooney became Manchester United's top players, but his success really started with Everton, a club from Merseyside.
In Netherlands, people might forget about Johan Cruyff. Having a great succes with Ajax by winning 3 European Cups, Cruyff somehow joined Feyenoord in 1983 and led the club to win the Double, even though Feyenoord lost humiliatingly 2-8 by Ajax.
Almost 40 years later, Steven Berghuis' transfer from Feyenoord to Ajax reignited the rivalry once more.
In Italy, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not the only player to ever played for Juventus, AC Milan, and
Inter Milan. Andrea Pirlo had played for those clubs, starting with Inter Milan, then to AC Milan, and finally Juventus.
