    Another great video, packed with useful information. This is definitely on my 'must visit' list.
    So refreshing to watch a sailing channel that is actually interesting and doesn't feel the necessity to produce a weekly video over-dramatising the simplest of tasks, or desperately seeking sponsorship. Thank you Michael.

    What a great place to visit, love that little village Bucklers Hard, it does look sparse primitive living, it also looks like the kind of interior design hipsters would pay a fortune for in their Cotswold villa. Thanks for sharing Beaulieu.

    Hi micheal.
    Sipping white rum yet?
    I have a question.
    When sailing around europe sweden to med, can you get weather info simply by your mobile phone as i assume one is never too far from shore, even for 2 days...otherwise the only real way is sat phone which is expensive.. If so then is there a mobile sim card that does all europe? and if crossing oceans, sat phone or vhf radio to talk to other boats for weather info....ssb seems a bit outdated and expensive...
    Your thoughts....enjoy the carib when u get there..
    Thierry.

    • @SailingGently
      @SailingGently  Před rokem

      Thierry hello,
      Yes I get nearly all my weather info on my mobile phone and laptop... Laptop makes it a bit bigger and more detailed.
      The easiest and most visual is Predictwind, on the front page of my phone closely followed by Weatheronline & the most accurate for French waters MeteoFrance...
      You need 'roaming' on your mobile phone contract and you might need extra data... Or for the boat you can buy a T-Link 4G LTE mobile router which plugs into 12 volts and costs around 70 UK pounds.. It then needs a non contract sim with EU roaming and around 200Mb which coasts around 15UKP a month but no contract.
      Actually it has never been easier to get very detailed weather forecasts anywhere in the world..
      Hope to start moving towards Caribbean at the end of the month
      Hope this helps

    • @thierryeymard9259
      @thierryeymard9259 Před rokem

      @@SailingGently in regards to roaming, i thought u only used it when outside the country of the simcard...unless you have an english sim card.and not a french one ..cant u get a sim that does all europe without roaming which is normally quite a lot more expensive...some people have dual sim phones...

    • @SailingGently
      @SailingGently  Před rokem

      @@thierryeymard9259 Thierry I assumed you wanted to use your data outside Sweden and you had a swedish Sim card... I am not an expert in all this but buying them and their range of countries seems to vary country to country... I have a French Sim but it's data is limited in Martinique for example... English sim cards appear to be cheaper for more data...
