➤ Madlife
Hong Min-gi (Korean: 홍민기; born October 5, 1992), better known as MadLife (Korean: 매드라이프), is a South Korean esports caster and retired professional League of Legends player.[2] During his career as a professional player, MadLife was known internationally for his mastery of the champions Thresh and Blitzcrank, and was described as "one of the greatest support players in the world". He is also a Worlds finalist, having qualified in 2012 while on Azubu Frost. MadLife began his professional career in Season 2, joining Korean team MiG Frost. The team's main sponsor became streaming service Azubu in mid-2012 and was renamed Azubu Frost. MadLife and his teammates qualified for the Season 2 World Championship after reverse sweeping CLG Europe in the finals of The Champions Summer 2012. Azubu Frost made it all the way to the World Championship finals, where they lost to Taipei Assassins, finishing runner-up. MadLife stayed with Azubu Frost after Season 2 and continued to play for all its later successors, gaining international notoriety for his plays on Thresh and Blitzcrank while on CJ Entus. In late 2016 he announced his departure from the South Korean League of Legends scene and his signing with NA CS team Gold Coin United.[6][7] He was, however, unable to fly to the United States and play with the team during the first few weeks of competition due to visa issues. After two consecutive failed attempts to qualify for the NA LCS, MadLife left Gold Coin United in November 2017. Upon returning to South Korea in early 2018, MadLife received multiple offers from domestic teams, as well as from teams in China, Europe and Turkey. He turned them all down and instead focused on streaming full-time. MadLife subsequently announced his retirement from professional play on June 19, 2018
● Among Koreans, it was jokingly said that MiG (A previous name of CJ Entus Frost) stood for "MadLife is God." They also say "MAmen" whenever he shows exceptional play.
● Earned over 80% of the allstar vote in season 3, giving him the highest percentage vote of all players in all regions.[13]
● Enjoys playing the game Osu! as it requires concentration and good hand-eye co-ordination skills which are useful when playing LoL.
● Favorite champions are Alistar, Blitzcrank, and Thresh.
● Had the nickname "Machine" in Korea as a result of his lack of expression and his favorite champion being Blitzcrank
● Known as a god within the community for his 'godlike support play.
● Is well known for being one of the top skill shot based support players in the world. His excellence on Blitzcrank and Thresh is put down to brilliant micromanagement skills.
● His pioneering of heavy AP champions as support such as Lux and Zyra caused some to believe he was trolling or purposefully playing inefficient champions. This style of play has since come into the mainstream support meta.
● Known for his stylistic and aesthetically pleasing play. He is often the subject of videos which praise his ability pull off complex and difficult plays.
● Possesses a deep champion pool with no known support champions that he is weak with.
● Prefers to be known by his full name (Hong Min-gi) as opposed to MadLife.
● Was the last member of the original 2012 Azubu Frost roster to play a competitive game.
● Stated in interviews that he meditates to relax and finds it a good way to prepare for important matches.
● Awarded Best Support at 2012 Korean e-Sports Awards.
● He is one of just two players (Doublelift is the other) to have participated in all three All-Star events (Shanghai 2013, Paris 2014, and Los Angeles 2015). He has the added distinction of being the only one to be on a winning team all three times.
● Played with Shy on the same roster for 1626 days. As of November 30, 2016, when they departed CJ Entus, this was the longest any pair of players had played together.

10 years ago everyone playing mid top or adc untill madlife start the playing support he's michael jordan for the lol support players
That is mata but OK
@@CarlosSilva-je5sp lol no bud. theres no such thing called a mata but theres plays called pulling a madlife
@@CarlosSilva-je5sp everybody says madlife if hooks are fantastic.
I've never heard ooo mata hooks lol
that's no joke and he's the TRUTH
Mata is usally about vision and positioning while mad life is more about the mechanics and flashy plays
Ezreal: * has flash and arcane shift*
Madlife: cute
This is the man that singlehandedly changed how the support role is perceived from a role that was thought to be relevant just because of the adc to a more team engaging/supporting role. This is the person who made me appreciate and main the role.
he really did pioneer how support is currently played at the highest level
The only way to counter Madlife is to play like a bronze player
Hahahahahaha lol i laughed so much to this comment
yup he only can predict good players if you just have no reaction or reflexes he'll just hit air.
people laugh at this comment but it's actually quite true... I myself played a lot of games in bronze because i suck, but i would say my game understanding isn't that bad and so often I'm so surprised at many things they do especially in jungle xD
@@kyrex1785 but you missing madlife is plays better. So i mean hooks not entire of game thiscuz roaming warding etc. Thinks important than skillshots
It's that tricky "run in a straight line and don't attempt to dodge" strat that always gets me, as well. Feelsbadman.
"I didn't choose support life, support life choose me."
Madlife is so respectable in the league that even Faker invite him to play with him in the 2v2 All-star LMAO
Madlife being respected, yes,Did madlife deserve it?yes,he even deserves to be world champion,Does faker invite him to all-star show that he being respect,no and no need, league of legend can have another faker, but can league have another madlife,no!
@@akhuathoang4842 Faker Invite him because he want a very good partner and Madlife is pretty available at the time, not because faker want to put Madlife in a position that fans or everyone can respect him because faker himself know madlife is respect almost everywhere around the lol community
Also if you don't watch any games before s3 Worlds every fans pretty much knew Mata is consider as the Madlife 2.0
What I mean is that no need faker to confirm he still the legend of legend
@@akhuathoang4842 don't you worry everyone knew that his consider a legend even before faker blossom in the world stage lol
its always nice watching madlife but getting called madlife after a play is even better
I so want to be called madlife after every crazy support play I make - but the kids these days don't know about him ;_;
@@JustinRiray haven't played for 2 years. Wait srsly??
@@mrsenpaihd7485 then you dont know insec the king of lee sin the name insec on all champs came from him he went under turrets and scooped enemies out hence the name
@@syedferoz2188 why would i not know insec?
I cant feel get that feeling after winning teamfight with Braum in silver xd #hardstuck
1:30 this move is legendary, this is exactly what a support or a tank is meant to be
Yes
"Supports are the least impactful role"
Madlife: "Hold my Control Ward"
Support is actualy the second most impactuff role. Unless in low elo where the suports just stay in lane
people on league dont steal my farm
Madlife: lets kill hunt champs then
The sole reason I main support is because of this man
He's the soul reason I main Thresh
I'll show myself out
same
My life for madlife? :)
Mine too but difference are there still. I kinda suck at games and in league in mained sup cause it felt easy but after seeing this man it became a passion like when you predict someones flash and stuff its a great feeling tbh even better than a victory lol
The reason i main thresh
It's so much honor watching players like these, players who laid the stepping stones of league. Players who motivated so many people to better themselves.
Every sport has their own legends, just how Basketball has LeBron , Tenis has Nadal, Football had Beckham, League has their own legends as well. And those who understand the game, these players ain't no different from the ones in other sports. They made a name for themselves, a name people will remember for ages to come.
(And unlike many big names, I doubt league players will end up junkies.)
0:34 No one's gonna talk about how tilted that gragas was. XD
ksing
@@killbill6583 it’s an ADC
@@henryeberman6342 and? I ve put more effort to kill him and him and someone comes and takes it that sad
they are 11-2 game its over so he s just trolling lol
i just spilled my water . That was really a good one
I do not know him very much, but he's one of my many reasons why i play support and Thresh.
Fav. player of all time!
Man he is the best. Obviously the greatest support ever in LoL
This guy is the reason why I love this game
0:33 Gragas was not happy
He is my idol, who has inspired me a lot since i played sp role
I remember the first time I did an outplay with thresh under tower and got a double kill, my adc called me madlife, i didn't know what was a madlife, i thought it was something like an insec. oh boy not even nostradamus could have predicted how much I was gonna obsese with thresh after I watched every compilation/tribute about him. thanks unknown adc!
Never seen a sp that always takes the spotlight in the bot lane, this guy is incredible, a true defination of sp carry
As a main support i can say that that happens often.
@@tylios2 Supp carry? Often? No.
@@corey552 to me it happens often
@@corey552 it's not that rare. The idea of support carry isn't them doing huge damage and kill everyone, is their skill of peeling and engaging/disengaging.
@@sheridan1700 agreed. Couldnt care less about the damage dealt graph. its not the point as a Support
That why he's the best supporter in my heart
almost cried, this is art!
The only streamer that can cover their minimap and it doesn't even matter because you are so focused on their mechanics
love how the gragas throws his r at his ally jhin after he stole the kill xdd
Guy was basically the reason why I mained support for 2 seasons. I play top now, but my friends always want me to support when we flex. Just shows how much I learned from this guy.
5:55 he is begining to believe!
“Legends never die”
He can literally predicts my future
A king without crown. Mid has Faker so support role has Madlife. My only idol from season 3 to now.
Great montage!! Alot of really funny plays, the thresh hook where he was casually waiting for akali then laughed is amazing :D
Madlife was the reason that I started to think playing sup is fun. Great work
Madlife is the one that got me into playing support, he always has a special place in my heart.
Wow. I don't usually play support, but I think Now I find a main reason why I should love playing Support. This guy here make it seem soo fun to play Support, and you can also shine even your Support player like deym hands Up and Down.
I remember when I didn't know much about league in 2015. The only thing I knew that Faker is a god of mid lane and Madlife is a god of support role.
I've heard so many times of his name until i saw all his gameplays. Now i main support. Salute to all those support players😎
Damnn this bring back memory...the first person ever to predict hook so precisely...
Madlife and gripex is what got me into league, absolute legends
one of my favourite league videos still
imagine playing adc with him you must feel so safe
no man you dont feel safe with high mechanical aggro support , you feel worries and anxious with the mind if you can respond to his playstyle
@@user-jw2sy3rk2h Madlife Braum is so god, he cover and shield ad everything
first time i watched madlife was first allstars in china season 3,he smurfed sooo hard on everyone,kr in general but madlife+pray was insane and his tresh and blitz was leagues above everyone elses, even edward who was the eu tresh prince was owned ...
This video ranks first place over all the videos I've watched this year!
this guy is crazy. prob one of the best league players overall
love the plays, also thx for the song :)
I now lost track of how many times I watched this
this was fire you gifted my guy
He is Thresh and sitting in Legendary Supports alongside with Wolf and Mata, just love this guy!
he is the first legend
4:40 where can I rent a guy like that? XD
Best montage EVER! Love U♡
The player I idolized and made me Thresh as my main hero back in my 2018 playing era🥹 Those days were really awesome!!!
This montage don't even need a hype flash prediction, just an amazing supporting mechanics.
this is not a human reaction.....its crazy insane!!!
Actually it was thresh who was the gamechanger of Supports. He was the first Support that Coupe carry games
9:38 OMG, he flashed in so that he can get the passive recovery faster fuck and then e in irelia in time. My God. The precision and the accuracy
What was his hero at that moment? Sorry, newbie to LoL
@@mayattv4986 Lulu
@@mayattv4986 there's a perk that recover some of your loss health when u contribute to take down enemy, and the effect have to travel from dead enemy to contributors. At that moment, he flashed to eliminate that travel time and get instant recovery as he got burning effect (ignite) near death and can't wait for that effect reach him. Thereby, he survived and continued his outplay with Irelia.
The whole play is awesome, but i would say he was far decisive than his opponent. Irelia can just confirm the kill using flash and walk out instead of rely on ignite and let him get the chance to recover.
@@Leewie wow that was a detailed information right there! Thanks fam really appreciate this lol community.
@@mayattv4986 oh sorry for wrong explanation, someone liked my comment so i rewatched that play. I realized that he didn't use that perk, when Irelia died, there was no healing effect on him but the ADC. So the truth is he got level up that gave him some more HP and i mistook the AD's effect. He just used flash to confirm the kill but the turret dmg was enough. That means no need to flash, he won't die for sure and can save flash for later use.
Btw, i just googled Triumph effect, and there is 1s delay until you're healed. Can't flash to eliminate that delay, it's just animation that most of us confused.
He is the reason I main support.
I got very emotional. next to the song and see how beautiful it plays (since I am main support)
this is exactly representation of "The 'Support' on the team"
he's the reason support players play support. he's the one person who made support interesting
And here i am again, i've seen it like 800 times
he is the best support that i have ever seen
he's not just good, he's fu*king clean
Madlife defined support role.
He's Just, a beast, for me, the best support in the world
1:30 never seen something like this wtf
I have... i've done it myself, except playing as a singed top.
@@korencek you flash into abilities!?
the instinct of top tier supports
thats bcuz its challenger, something u will also never experience
@@ronvakshasa7261 Difference is that he gets himself killed

by far the Support Goat
I remember being a main thresh in 2013 watching Madlife's clips to learn

everytime League disappointed me , MadLife makes me wants to play League again
that was the best comment i saw in a while
1v5 plays are good
but madlife plays are even greater.
I love that he has a guy sitting next to him to say woah

The Man who defined "Support"
In early reckless years, Doubleift treated everyone like trash except Madlife. He really respected Madlife and wanted to play with Madlife even they cant communicate much.

I wish i could be that calm and collected when i get 3 man dove under tower
Mata may be the first support player to get Mvp. But Madlife was so close to getting it TPA was just above their game in S2.

CJ ENTUS is my second fav team because of Madlife but the Team Organization fvkd up really bad after they lost to SKT at season 5 at the QF.
