  • @okebaram
    @okebaram Před rokem

    Your videos are amazing and you are very knowledgeable. I have some questions. Is there a reason or advantage to shooting this handheld without using a gimbal?
    Also, there is a question I have had for a while and haven't been able to get any answers. Maybe yu can shed some light. I have been looking at cinematic videos shot in flat profiles like slog or with Sony mirrorless cameras general. I see that even when everything is done right, like the lighting, the coloring, the exposure angles and movement... etc exceptionally well, most of the final video scenes always seem to be a little more blurry or more unfocused than I would have expected they would be, even though they may look so cinematic. If you are watching a show on Netflix, or TV (I'm in USA) or a Hollywood movie, there have that sharpness and detail, like their camera is truly in focus on the person or object, and yes they use much more expensive cameras but I don't think should be the cause of this particular observation. Focusing is easier than the other accomplishments of these cameras or cinematographers, I would think. Have you noticed that, and do you see what I am saying? Could it be that the less-expensive camera has trouble with executing a low depth of field choice without a tradeoff in sharpness? I see the same with your videos and other talented filmmakers... and you are an expert so I wonder if you see this and know what I am talking about with insights as to why...

      Thanks Yon! That shot was actually in 25FPS Full Frame, it really helps when the rig is a bit heavier. I didn't encounter any rolling shutter issues on this shoot although I know APS-C does perform better in that department!

    What shutter speed is needed for such dynamic scenes if you shoot in 4K 25 fps? Thanks.

    Excellent breakdown Jacques, very much enjoyed the video. It was an interesting perspective to see the Foley artist come in for the final sound design. Really adds to the overall immersion of the video!
    With regard to your white balance setting, are you keeping a custom white balance set at 5600K given that the key light is at 5600K and the Nanlite pavotubes are at 6300K? If you were working with a performer with darker skin tones, would you alter the custom white balance setting?
    Thanks!

      Hey Jonathan! Apologies for the late reply, been traveling a bit. Thanks for your kind words. To answer your question, yes I mostly stuck to 5600K and I would stick to the same regardless of skintone.

    Really nice Work! I wonder if you used the gyro data for stabilization in post?

    • @jacques_crafford

      Thanks a ton! I didn't use the gyro data, the rig itself did a pretty stellar job with stability :)

    First I would like to see you having Patreon account. So we can buy you monthly coffee at least.
    All what i could is buying the LUTs .. your content is really exceptional.
    After this video I think I need this lens..I tried the push-in zoom-in with A7iv and sigma 24-70..it did not work..the lens could not keep focus

      You are most kind, THANK YOU! I really appreciate that. I'll consider the Patreon Account thank you for the encouragement! The zoom push will struggle on those lenses which is actually a great selling point of this one :)

    Hi jacques , do you choose the song/music first for the video and then plan your shotlist/story board or you choose song/music after the shoot ? What have you done in this specific video ? choosing song or filming first ?

    • @jacques_crafford
      @jacques_crafford  Před rokem +1

      Hey mate! I always try to choose the song even before I shoot but sometimes it just doesn't work out like that. In this case I chose the song after filming but I knew the pace that I wanted while I was filming so in post the choices were limited making it easier?
