She was stunning! No one danced with more elegance than her. What a class act!
The most beautiful woman in the world. A great actress. She had the best legs in the business.
😢
Yes, yes, yes, and as the expression goes, “ they went all the way up”! She was not only beautiful, but she had the gift of “presence”, moving with the ease of an ice skater gliding across a pond….it is her gift of coordination and grace that makes every motion seem effortless…Fred was a very lucky man to have held her in his arms, as they moved as one in wonderful synchronicity to the orchestra…
Couldn't have said it better myself
Statuesque, elegant, sensual...as a dance duo the overall presentation was mesmerizing. No wonder she was held in such exaltation as a dance partner.
People used to talk about Betty Grables legs and the poster of her that the American soldiers collected. But there is no comparison to Cyd’s legs. She was poetry in motion !!! One of a kind!
She was so beautiful and talented! And she aged gracefully and with beauty!
She moved like a cat... her elegance was second to none. Being a woman of a certain age... I remember her very well. She was mesmerizing.
Cyd Charisse - my all-time favourite female dance hero 💜⭐️💜
Thanks for this post 🙏
A truly lovely lady and so talented….loved her….saw her in person at dinner theatre in my home town years ago and watch movies in which she starred as often as I can…thanks for this so much….👍💝
She was very talented and beautiful no wonder everybody wanted to dance with her lucky Tony
I know all your stuff is good, but this was *particularly* good. It was just a lovely encapsulation of a lovely person's life and career.
I had the good fortune to see Ms Charisse on stage once and even though the ticket had cost me my entire week's food budget (I was a poverty -stricken student at the time), the second she walked on stage I knew I'd made the right decision.
Just walking, she had the elegance, beauty, grace and strength that made her a wonder of the world.
She reminded me of Margot Fonteyn. The women daners of that time had a certainty that just defined a generation and art form.
You put together a very fine bio, thank you. She is my favorite female dancer. My late mother strongly resembled her. “Dancing in the Dark” is sublime.
She was mesmerizing in that dance in the park with Fred Astaire and also in Silk Stockings. So beautiful.
A very shy person that emoted through dance like no other! Cyd was a most beautiful, talented, graceful, and athletic dancer! Her height was actually closer to 5'8; bending her knees when standing next to her partners. A bucket list of mine in Heaven to so have a simple waltz with Cyd Charisse!
She was closer to 5’6”… She frequented the restaurant I worked at back in 2006. I’m 5’3”ish, and she was just a bit taller than me…
So talented. And a beauty.☘️
I loved her in Silk Stockings. That was her best musical, in my opinion!👍
Yes i heard of her so glad to hear her story.
She was a incredible dancer ,sexy and she could act too.!!!!!!
Her solo dance in the title "Silk Stockings" is my favorite dance scene. By any dancer. She says so much without saying a word. A moving painting.
The Lady Knocks Me Out number Knocks me out! I saw her in Las Vegas at the Thunderbird Hotel and Casino when I was a kid. My parents took me. Still had the moves and the legs!
I remember her! She was Poetry in motion!
You didn't mention her best dance roles in "Meet Me in Las Vegas". The Frankie & Johnnie number along with the take on Sleeping Beauty are the best ballets seen anywhere in film.
They haven't made women like her in Decades.
A better title might have been, "Why wouldn't someone want Cyd Charisse as a dance partner"? Fear of being overshadowed?
She was beautiful!
Funny, this emphasis on her legs: they're certainly lovely, but imho, slightly to the skinny side of shapely... I think it was her lithe and graceful way of dancing that made the utmost of her slim, toned figure.
Good grief. Stunning!
Voilà la vidéo et le son rétabli 🎉 Merci 😂🙏🏼
Une danseuse à l’élégance exceptionnelle.
Fun Fact: Cyd Charisse also made a cameo appearance at the end of the Esther Williams movie, Easy To Love.
My late mom used to tell me how she wanted to be Cyd Charisse, but mom was only 5 feet tall
She was 5 foot 7.
@KikiTheWitch. I believe many who worked with her said she was 5'5-1/2 which seems more likely. While strolling with Fred in a scene from 'The Bandwagon'...she's in flats and Fred appears at 5'9 quite taller than her.
@@geraldmoran6387I worked at a restaurant she & Tony frequently dined, and she was definitely 5’6ish… I’m about 5’3”, and she was just a bit taller than me…
Für mich ist sie die anmutigste Tänzerin der Welt.
Stunning woman and incredible dancer; her niece is the actress Nana Visitor.
Cyd and mitzi both had the most beautiful legs in the movies.
Remember her for a film noir, Tension (1949) in which she had a dramatic, non dancing acting role, and of course, Singin' In The Rain, It's Always Fair Weather and The Bandwagon, beautiful , talented lady.
Amigo, well done.
"When you danced wirh her, tou stayed danced with" Fred Astaire
Let's not forget that gorgeous face!!
Syd is Miss Perfect.
Fantastic dancer who could do sultry and balletic. Like Esther Williams, her acting skills were not up to her physical talent. She said that herself. Those legs!
Esther Williams wet was a star, dry she wasn't
Because, She Had Legs, That Wouldn't, Quit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Greatest legs EVER!
My father ( a pro dancer and actor in Hollywood) loved dancing with her at the clubs in LA back in the day. I saw her once in Vegas when I was a kid but couldn't get in the main show.
She had no problems dancing nude for the right audience. Bet you didn't know that >>> .
I wish I didn’t know… lost quite a bit of respect. 😢
Who was she dancing naked in front of? For money? Did her husband allow her to do that? Or was money more important to him than his wife?
Or ... is this even true???
@@vlf7771Burlesque, maybe…?
@@xamyx725 He means dancing in a private club for selected oligarchs in the nude. In short, porn.
She was a true artiste of musical theatre but as you say she paid her dues making the most of her guenes by working and trainng her self into the masterful dancer she was she will neve be forgotten always linked to Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly My other favourites are Vera Allen and Donald O Conner good video mate nice one
It was the way cyd moved it was very sensual and her legs were long
Cyd kicks butt, awesome.
Actually, in an interview with Dick Cavett many years ago, Fred Astaire said he loved dancing with Rita Hayworth. She was trained in dance since she could walk. She was very easy to work with. This takes nothing from Cyd Charisse. She was excellent as a dancer being trained in ballet. You did say "everyone."
Yes, Fred always loved partnering with Rita!
I have two left feet but if I could dance it would have to be with Cyd, to me she's undoubtedly the most alluring dancer there was.
Loved her in Meet me in Las Vegas, but I honestly don't remember her in Singing in the Rain, that was Debbie Reynolds
@@terrymurphy2032 thank you
She had a killer pair of legs...such a gorgeous and classy woman!
exactly, and on top of that she could actually dance.
feminine but not hippy, naturally slim.
86 yo is a long time
Have you done one about Ginger Rogers
I’ve got extending ladders in my garage that are shorter than her legs!
(🥴You DO realize that she had TWO legS, I hope!)😂
I really think that items like this should contain a "slideshow" warning.
If anyone can't tell why just from looking at the pics, I would suggest getting some help.
'Well duh.
What a total Darling
Great legs
Amazing dancer. Probably one of the best of all time. Shame about the voice-over. I almost fell asleep.
Crriitkikcrjytsythutgfrrpouttyiuiotdageeuytrpoutdrdjelbgdpiutdscjedfwuyrggenrkjrejhonlyoduyrcrtfseude
She had only "ONE of the finest legs on the dance floor?"
Yep not a fan of her left one.
Her dancing didn't help her to live to be 110.
Question, does this beautiful woman have an Adam’s Apple ?
I was wrong, sorry!
She was a racist republican and hurt women
Now there's jealousy if I ever saw it!
@@suzanneterrey4499 she worked on the Nixon campaign
@@Emptynestballerina1 Working on the Nixon campaign does not make you a racist. Maybe you should call those who worked on the Biden campaign racist considering he hung out with KKK members.
@@MsJackrussell2 dude your a freak trumper
You mean the male dancers wanted. I would have thought that was obvious.
