I went to some Soviet style canteen/café in a nice, large parkland area when I was in Moscow. Like the last one in your video but not as elaborate. Can't remember what park exactly but the food was very good, healthy and a super bargain.
Maybe you were on the other side of the park. In the video, this is the central area of the park, with playgrounds and rides, further it is surrounded by wild forest for miles. It's really huge.

I remember beetroot was on the plate mixed in with a nice salad. Some type of pierogi that was not actually what I understand is pierogi. Great soup. Bit cooler than now - September 1999 - so quite some time ago.

This is so cool too see and you're the only You Tuber that has ever done a video on this subject. Oh yes, I distinctly remember seeing this type of restaurants and bars in old Soviet movies where Russian people would eat and drink standing up. I actually thought the Soviet government purposely made customers stand and not sit was so that they would not hang around talking long after they were finished eating and drinking, as well as get rid of anyone that was too intoxicated to stand on their own two feet. Good to see a few of these Communist style cafeterias still around. Prague & Czech used have Koruna Automat, but these are long gone though a few people have set up cafeterias in that style. Poland used to have Bar Mleczny's all over. They had wonderful food. Someone should produce a book on this subject.

It's remarkable that the pork and chicken kebab is same recipe as the Turkish kebab here in UK, but the only difference is the chilli sauce, some more salad's and garlic sauce. After tasting the oily pancake at that Soviet restaurant,how did your belly feel later?

Also he hasn't hesitant to jump in some not so high-life situations, like drinking beer with bums.... usually comic scenes which were also popular. But I become somehow sceptic of his concept, since it hasn't evolved for years.
The US is dangerous, there are homeless people, drug addicts, people with guns and a lot of gangs. There is a civil war in the US and there are sadomites everywhere

I've been to that cheburechnaya about like 8 years ago. It was a weekday, not a rush hour, and I was suprised that there were visitors. Like a line of 5-7 folks. Standing tables, without chairs ))), all of them were ocupied. And chebureki were great. Thanks for the video.
Wonderful video LIsa. That was good to see Danny. He definitely isn't bald. His hairstyle reminds me of the character Winston Smith in the film of George Orwell's '1984' that was made in 1984. '1984' takes place in England in the years after a communist-style revolution. So I couldn't help making that connection when you were going round the Soviet-era restaurants.

No, the novel doesn't mention communism, but there are clear parallels between the totalitarian world of '1984' and Big Brother, where the Party reigns supreme and the way contemporaries viewed the regime of Stalin in the USSR. It's a long time since I've read it. So there wasn't a revolution, just a civil war and a takeover by forces from outside that led to the regime coming to power. OK thank you for the information.

Interesting food. I am big on vegetables no beef, no pork. The drink looks drinkable 😊. I like the fact there are no many people. Since I don’t speak Russian I will be hard to travel, I think. I love the rain. I always with my friends go to the soccer field to play. So much fun.
Strongest Russian alcohol is straight up pure medical ethanol 😅 I mean I also like stories about vodka being carefully engineered by Mendeleev, but vodka is essentially medical ethanol diluted by water)

This is a huge 1,240-acre park, it takes about two hours on foot to walk through it.

Interesting food. I am big on vegetables no beef, no pork. The drink looks drinkable 😊. I like the fact there are no many people. Since I don’t speak Russian I will be hard to travel, I think. I love the rain. I always with my friends go to the soccer field to play. So much fun.
those "ciboreks " should be eaten about 5 each not only one in order to feel full
