  • Usage of Sulfur in Sesame Crop
    1. Ammonium Sulfate Application:
    Quantity: One bag (50 kg)
Nutrient Content: Provides both nitrogen (21%) and sulfur (24%)
    Benefits:
Supplies essential nitrogen for vegetative growth.
Provides sulfur, which is crucial for protein synthesis and enzyme function.
    2. Urea and Sulfur Application:
Half bag (25 kg) Urea and 05 Kg Sulfur:
Elemental sulfur or sulfate form (such as gypsum)
    Benefits:
Additional nitrogen from urea supports robust growth and development.
Supplementary sulfur ensures adequate availability for metabolic processes, enhancing oil content and quality in sesame seeds.
    3. Nitrophos and Sulfur Application:
One bag (50 kg) NP Plus 5 kg Sulfur
    Benefits:
Phosphorus promotes root development, flowering, and seed formation.
The combined application of sulfur supports essential plant functions and improves overall crop health and yield.
    Application Timing and Method:
    Soil Preparation:
Incorporate organic matter (compost or manure) to improve soil structure and fertility before planting.
    Basal Application/ At Flowering
    Ammonium Sulfate:
Apply evenly across the field during soil preparation or at Flowering Stage.
Incorporate into the top 10-15 cm of soil to prevent volatilization and ensure availability to seedlings.
    Nitrophos:
Apply during soil preparation or at planting time.
Ensure thorough mixing into the soil to make phosphorus available for root uptake.
    Sulfur (5 kg):
Apply during soil preparation or at planting time or at Flowering
Ensure even distribution for uniform sulfur availability.
    Top Dressing:
    Urea (Half Bag):
Apply 4-6 weeks after planting when the sesame plants are in the vegetative stage.
Spread evenly between rows and incorporate lightly into the soil to avoid nitrogen losses.
    Sulfur (Additional 5 kg):
Apply at the same time as urea to ensure continued sulfur availability during critical growth stages.
    Benefits of Sulfur in Sesame:
    Improved Growth:
    Enhances chlorophyll formation and photosynthesis.
Supports nitrogen fixation and amino acid synthesis.
    Increased Yield:
    Boosts seed formation and development.
Improves seed quality, including oil content and nutritional value.
    Enhanced Disease Resistance:
Strengthens plant cell walls, making them more resistant to diseases and pests.
    Summary:
Incorporating sulfur through ammonium sulfate, supplemental sulfur application, and nitrophos, alongside nitrogen from urea, enhances the growth, yield, and quality of sesame crops. Proper timing and method of application ensure optimal nutrient availability and plant uptake.
