Deets death was just as hard on me. He was such a pure soul. Genuinely cared about that little blind boy and didn’t drop him even when he was speared through the chest. Call made his first head stone and Gus teared up reading it. 😥
@@harrisonnoel2720 I respect your opinion, I don't want you to think I'm knocking you, because I'm not, but I have to disagree with High Noon. High noon was a subversive propaganda film written by a pro Communist screen writer named Carl Foreman. The lone Sheriff represented the Left-wing pro communist actors of the time, and the villain represented HUAC (House of Un-American Activities Committee). During that period of the 20th century many big name stars who were open Communists were being blacklisted by HUAC for the Communist propaganda they were putting in their films and trying to brainwash the viewer into believing conservatives were evil and they were saints. Again I'm not attacking you, if you like the film more power to you. I just prefer Westerns and any other film genre to not having any political bias, but just be a legit piece of entertainment. That is why I don't agree with it being the greatest western.
My darling Josh, there are still men who are stout of heart and true heroes in this world. Lonesome Dove is a reminder of steadfast friendship, allegiance to your values and grit in the face of adversity. That person comes in all sizes, colors and might be a woman or even an old man. The trick is to seek them out for they are your true kinfolk. God bless and be safe🕊
I came looking for Lonesome Dove to say I cry everytime I watch it. I been watching it for a month straight. It came out in 89 I watched it with my Grandma Live. It’s a mf’n MASTERPIECE!!!!
The way Call cried when Deets died and couldn't talk.. what am awesome series. I've watched it at least 30 times over the years and still never gets old.
Dude, I can’t believe you didn’t mention Deets dying. I literally can’t take that part. I’m convinced they split his death between the end of Part 3 and the beginning of Part 4 because they knew people couldn’t take that all at once. One of the greatest characters in the history of movies.
I just finished it yesterday and this is 1000% accurate. The music is what will get you. Basil Poledouris was at the top of his game when he did the soundtrack for Lonesome Dove.
This miserable year has had me fuzzed off and a friend of mine said take a break from the news and I said, "I did...I binged watched Lonesome Dove"....it was a great way to reset.....but it is STILL 2020, say I may have to watch it a few more times!
So I watched 30 seconds of this, stopped, watched lonesome dove for the first time, then realized there was 0 exaggerations in your video. That mini series blew my mind!
Watch BONE TOMAHAWK!! In my opinion, the best Western of this new millennium... Possibly ever for me! It quickly became my favorite movie after seeing it! I LOVE Westerns and have seen and read basically all of the great ones and plenty of lesser known titles too so this comes from a true Western fan and fan of films and novels in general
This movie had to be a TV mini series to get all the important stuff in, but because it was a TV mini series its get overlooked and that is a huge shame. It is easily one of the best Western movies ever made.
Dude the book was even sadder, and after I cried through the book even though I totally knew what was going to happen, I cried through the movie too. TORE ME UP.
There is something that's even better than the Lonesome Dove miniseries - the book from 1985 called "Lonesome Dove." It's lengthy, but if you like the miniseries, you will fly through the book.
Damiana Murphy watch it😊 it’s amazing! I remember watching it when it aired on tv the 1st time. That was several years ago and it still has me. You won’t regret it.
Great miniseries, great actors, great western.you might as well keep going with the rest of the series.then appaloosa, open range,310 to yuma (there are 2),true grit(2 of them )once upon a time in the west, shane, high noon, butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid, hidalgo(it's long ),treasure of Sierra Madre (badges,we don't need no stinking badges)
Super video of my favorite book and miniseries! I couldn't stop laughing! Thanks, I really needed that. I have to say I probably used an entire box of tissue crying at the death of Gus!
There was also a Lonesome Dove The Tv series for the first year of its existence, followed by Lonesome Dove The Outlaw Years for the remainder of the series. It follows Newts life.
And the good news is that Lonesome Dove gets into your heart and your mind, so you can always go back in your memory and relive those beautiful moments. The bad news is that Lonesome Dove gets into your heart and your mind, so you are sometimes forced to go back in your memory and relive those really sad moments, too. Even though I’m from Texas I’m not a huge western fan. But Lonesome Dove is an incredible work of art. You summed it up perfectly! Call and Gus now that’s ride or die my friend. I will be checking all your reviews! Thanks for the content !!!
This movie is loosely based on real events about Charles Goodnight and Oliver Loving. When Loving was killed, Goodnight brought him back to Weatherford TX. to be buried. You should read the book Charles Goodnight Cattleman and Plainsman.
Please tell me you watched The Big Country at some point during this Western binge. Burl Ives delivers a speech nearly as memorable as Robert Shaw's epic "USS Indianapolis".
I’ve read the book but have not seen the series, and the book kicked my azz! It’s full of people closer to good than bad making shit decisions and turning coward despite all their courage, getting lucky more often than not, and more or less just says “don’t hope for anything. What will be will be. It’s also full of people closer to bad than good doing whatever it is they’re going to do, and more often than not, reaping the consequences. It’s a “page turner” for certain, but it “fo dam sho” don’t care about your feelings. And yeah, Gus…I love that son of a bitch!
Ok Josh it's time for you to watch the greatest western hero of all time, Clint Eastwood in The Outlaw Jose Wells, also Clint's movie The Unforgiven. Puts the others to shame.

Deets death was so hard!!! Still hurts
for me it was Jake Spoon's hanging. "i'd rather be hung by my friends than some strangers...hope you don't hold it against me". so sad and tragic
@@luvlgs1 I watch that scene on CZcams sometimes. It's genuinely heart wrenching. Another good one is on Gladiator when Commodus kills his father.

Its a tie with High Noon

Best western ever. Hands down. And yes u better be ready to fight the tears back

Comanche Moon is awesome.
Josh you are the man
One of the hardest scenes to watch is Pea Eye staggering around in the scrub near death. The music, and stark landscape. Powerful!
The Brokeback Mtn bit had me dying at work lol
Good stuff! Lonesome Dove is the greatest. “Why’d Gus Have to Die?”
Watched Lonesome Dove just last year and this is the best review of the show I've seen.
