What a relief to explain so perfectly what is happening in my soul.
I have always felt so loved and cherished by God all my life, despite my sin and ungodly actions.
Now, there is so much turmoil inside . Simple things like when I watch a girly chick flick, the clothes I wear, impropper conversaations. The sin is so blately obvious.
I was blaming the devil for feeling so woeful when I should have been glorifying God 😁🎉
Ok, Lord, let your will be done but I really need your help.
Thank you for this excellent discussion God Bless you both.

An excellent teaching conversation. I'm learning so much. Thanks for this episode. I was not aware of this and I have been an OCDS for 19 years. You should notify all the OCDS communities throughout the USA of this great program. God bless both of you and your audience..

This is a wonderful treatment of a great saint. The Living Flame of Love is often recommended as a good place to start reading the works of St. John of the Cross.

On this beautiful idea/illustration of "centeredness" or the soul reaching its center in God ... we must also realise and highlight that we are not really going within or into our selfs per se, but rather our soul (and by virtue of that - we) are going outside of our selfs to another (God Himself). Our Catholic mysticism is always Other oriented and not merely a form of secular self-realism or Eastern mysticism. Note in no way do I think Father and Deacon come across as alluding to secular centeredness or Eastern mysticism in this video, but I think in our times people can get confused by the words cenetered, interiority, self realism etc. - so I just wanted to highlight that.

Excellent! But why isn't the veil that which keeps us attached to our bodies in this life. I mean, if it were ripped away, we would die and be with God?

    I love Johns apophatic way
For me it means when the church says no to something it’s not just saying no for no reason. It’s saying, no that,s not it.
Go deeper aim higher, you’re not there yet. We might think we find true love in sex for instance or fullness of life in riches. But John,s saying no, that’s not it. Aim higher or go deeper to find true fulfilment

That's exactly right. God is offering the very best for us (Himself!) and doesn't want us to settle for anything less! God bless you, Tony!

Does this also explain Elijah's "fire" ? Is St John's poem I live yet do not live in me the thin veil ?

Question, do I watch video before I read the section or after?

    • @ICSPublications
      @ICSPublications  Před 5 měsíci

I would probably recommend watching it after reading, but either way is fine. One person told me that they watched it before reading and then watched it again after.
      God bless you!

Gal 5: 16 -18 So I say walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. v17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. v18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
