Thanks for watching. - Sport
Thank you very much for this great guide. I'm new to working on my bikes and with this guide I ordered SRAM APEX caliper's to replace the worn Tektro's on a CAAD10 i bought used.
Great information as always keep up the good work.. I really enjoyed working for you back in the days riding about London fixing bikes and giving seminars to people who didn't even know how to pump up their tyres lol.. it's me mr Mitchell. Again thanks for explaining the tasks so simple and clearly
Excellent video. Currently building my first road bike. This was insanely helpful
Who needs GCN. This is the best UK cycling channel.
As always great explanation.
I’m glad to see anything on rim brakes.
Very helpful video. Thank you.
Best guide good quality videos
Perfect explanation
I recently bought a bike with these brakes and wondered why the lever travel was so huge when braking! The point at 12:17 literally blew my mind! Thank you very much for this - transformed my riding!
Never tried Sram calipers always had shimano rim. I've not owned direct mount eithrr but had a go mates bike and they seemed pretty responsive.
Very nice Video. Can i use this also for mechanically disc breaks?
Thank you for the video, are Sram callipers a floating design? I have heard people suggest they are difficult to live with because they easily move off centre such as when one cable touches another? I am a bit concerned about this on my Bianchi as the Bianchi design isn’t the best in that the rear brake cable entry is directly on the head tube, this means when I turn the bars the front brake cable contacts the rear cable, could this cause the front calliper to rotate and bind? I know it would centre itself when the bars are straight, but it could be annoying?
Just curious, what happens if you install the rear brakes on the inside part of the frame rather the outer part?
Hello, thx for the video. One question while centering my brake caliper (sram red road)
I can't have both adjustment in place, centered to the eye and pads touching at the same time. It's one or the other.
- I center it to the eye
- As I apply pressure to the brake levers, one pad will touch first, then the other will start moving abd touch the wheel.
- I fine tune the adjustment so that they both contact the wheel at the same time
- Now they not centered to the eye.
What should I do ? I'm going through this as after changing wheels with brand new ones, brakes are screaming on downhills. I've also check caliper tension, new brake pads, alignment with the wheels.
If you have any advice I thank you !
Cheers
Would this caliper fit a 30mm tire? My sl6 fits 28-30 but the ultegra 8000 won't clear 28mm
Max 28c tyres!
@@FreeToCycle Hi, my used sram force calipers from 2015 do not open enough to go around a rim for 25mm tires. Is there something to unscrew or deblock to widen them or can there be debris blocked in it?
Excellent video …can anyone help me with a problem please…With these calliper breaks my break pad holders are as low as I can get them, however when I squeeze the breaks the actual pad hits the top of my wheel rim..can this be adjusted at all to allow the pad not to come in contact with the tyre?
Your frame probably requires long drop brake calipers!
Ok many thanks 👍🏻@@FreeToCycle
