"Easy quick link" HAHAHHAHAHAHA
Yes they are terribly 😁
Took me 3 days to do the first one I ever did. The second one took about a minute.
This is the worst design on planet earth.
I totally agree is so much harder to use than the one used by KMC
I thought i was the only one. It took me longer to add this little pos than actual fixing my complete bike.
@@nielswil No you are not alone.... horrible way to connect the chain...😲
“Quick”link😂😂
Yeah I know what am I like 😂
"mission impossible" is easier than this ridiculous quick link 😅
🤣🤣 Yeah you are right I think Tom Cruise would run for the hills rather than take this on
Make it look so easy bugger me still try 30 minutes later
No it certainly not easy at all and I struggled like mad on the previous bike I did just before this one
Have managed to do it whoop whoop
Well done 👍 Its a stupid system that is way to hard to get right
3 hours still trying to unchain
I would just use KMC chains they are much easier
First video on Google search. Exactly what I needed. Thanks John!
You're welcome 😁👍 I am happy it helped you as its an awful system which is why I made the video to try and help people struggling with it
Thanks so much mate! :) I love this video. This link is in my honest opinion much better than the other one, this one stays good and firm.
Glad I could help! - I personally really like the KMC chains as they are great chains and so easy to fit
hahah It ain't that hard, actually.. It clicked nicely. I was prepared for such a struggle, after all I removed my old chain with a vice, screw and a bushing :D Thanks for the explanation!
You were lucky if it was that easy 👍 just look at the comments on this video people have a nightmare with it 🤔 but not quite a vice job though 😳😁
I just installed this last night. It is a bit fiddly, but not hard when you figure out you have to flex the opposing link with the pins. I'm just not sure why they changed from the old style quick link with a pin on each side of the link. "progress" I guess...
You have to get it just right and it will go in but it's not a good way to connect a chain and as you say the other way is much better like they have on KMC chains
Is this a new version of the Shimano quick link?
I am not sure if its a new version but I did only fit it very recently
How do u remove this one? Can it be reused?
Yes you can bend the chain the other way (away from you) and with some pliers you can prise it off..... fiddly buy possible
Lol it is hard. But if you flip it around and brace it on something hard, and push it snaps in easily.
Thanks for the tip 👍 that is good to know but its not a very good design and way to hard to do
Thanks
Your Welcome 😁
I bent the damn thing and reused my kmc link instead 😂
Yeah they are a real pain to use and the KMC version is much better
This is unquestionably the worst master link I've ever encountered or seen. I wasted one half a day trying to get this SOB on and it's still not on I'm going to buy a new chain tomorrow and return this one. The one I'll buy is going to have a pin or a good master link not like this piece of junk! 😢
I could not agree more its a really stupid system. Have a look at a KMC chain they are really good chains anyway and what I usually buy. I only got the Shimano ones as that was the only one my local store had but never again. You could try using a chain splitter tool if you have one to have push the pin out of a link and re-join it
Getting the pin through the hole is a lot easier with some chain pliers to squeeze the pins together. Even the fraction of a millimeter of flex in it is enough to make the difference.
Good tip thank you 👍
I use the same method. It's much easier to do this with chain pliers. 🍰
Yeah I bet it is 😁
no it does not go into the bigger bit with ease IT WILL NOT BUDGE IV TRIED HAMMER PUSHING IT DOES NOT HAPPEN
No it is not easy and I did say its takes a fair bit of effort and that was an understatement as its awful to do. I had to do it a few times and had sore fingers before I got it connected. Its a stupid system and other chain manufacturers like KMC have a much better method. If you are struggling you could just get a chain spliter and use that instead by pushing one of the pins halfway out connecting the chain and pushing it back in Bike Chain Splitter www.amazon.co.uk/TAGVO-Universal-Stainless-Splitter-Portable/dp/B06XCFTXTX/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=Bike+Chain+Tool&qid=1690920549&sr=8-6
Word
I tried for hours because I didn't know how to do it. Then when I realised the plate is supposed to slide across I did it in seconds. :/
I gave up, even after watching this video. A spare KMC link has been used instead. That’s the last Shimano 6/7/8 speed chain I’ll ever buy!
I totally understand its awful to do and it took me a little while and some sore fingers which is why I did the video to try and help others
how about removal
Yeah that is a good question - I personally use a chain splitter to remove most chains but the other type of quick link like you see on KMC chains you can either use a special pair of pliers or you can sometimes push them by hand and they will disconnect
Thanks. What an awful design
Your welcome and you are right stupid design 😉
Well ….. nope
Yes it is awful to do but possible..... horrible system though 😕
😢 i cant
I wont lie to you its hard and very fiddly. 🤔 but it will eventually go in.
Ludicrous. I've watched this and other videos many times but I cannot snap the link on. My thumbs are still hurting the next day and my Shimano Quick Link chain is going back to Amazon.
You are right and I totally agree its an awful system 😮 I would just use a KMC chain they are great and have a simple connecting system
@@JohnonaBikemy bike used KMC link same like this😂
Ah right I assumed the KMC chains had the other system to connect which is much better as all the ones I have used did 🤔
How Hard!
Yeah it's ridiculously hard 😳 It's a stupid design
This helped heaps, your a mad dog 🫡
Your very welcome 😁👍
