Hello everyone, MT here with the usual trainspotting action! Back on the railways after a brief break and here, a quick fifty-minute stop at Manchester Piccadilly Station while I was on my way down to Crewe. There were some slight changes compared to my last visit with the main one being a big reduction of the number of Avanti services (from three to one an hour) due to unofficial strike action by the company’s employees in the ongoing debate of payment raises. Other than that, just another relaxing time there in the warm sunshine, capturing the traffic coming in and going out. Hope you all enjoy this!

The 170 does come quite a bit but yes it’s not your average emr train in Piccadilly you’d normally see like a 156 or 158

I thought you had to get permission for train spotting at manchester
I think at Network Rail-owned stations (like Piccadilly), it's best to get permission and sign in. So far in my experience, staff have been willing to let you do so
