Amazing, That performance made me feel like it is the old days when everything was new! although: I think the re-issue sounds a little tinnier, with no where near the same low end and too... linear without the random, glitchy oscillations as the aged one...
Thank you! I have to oppose on the reissue having less low end. It actually can produce way more bass than this particular vintage unit. You have to consider that for this performance I did NOT set them up to sound identically - for instance the vintage one is set to sawtooth and the reissue is set to square wave to beginn with. Also, the reissue has a fairly high resonance setting in that patch - which of course robs the the low end in the typical fashion all 4-pole ladder filters do. So that's kind of apples to oranges here. But I recorded a dedicated A/B video as well and will soon release that one. Regarding the oscillators: What's glitchy here is actually the keyboard on the vintage unit, not the oscillators themselves. That's a common weakness in vintage Minis - dirt and corrosion in the key contacts cause the control voltage to freak out when you play certain keys. The oscillators do follow and shiver or howl, which is actually pretty annoying if you try to hold a constant note in a recording and this effect ruins the whole take.

Don’t get me wrong.. this sounds fantastic. But is this not just nostalgia and Moog making a fortune out of the (very faithful) reproduction!? Just my English two pence worth.🙏🏻🎶
Yes, they are. Actually, the oscillator boards on the reissue models are built after the design of the second generation boards, while the vintage one seen here has the third generation board (more stable tuning, but considered sounding a little thinner). I will go over that in a dedicated A/B video soon to be released.

@@ME-ru4hv I see! No, the darker one is a 1979 (by educated guess) vintage model. As far as I know, the only difference between 2016 and 2022 is the greatly improved pitch wheel and the cabinet. But I may be wrong.

Wenn es die Phantasie der Hörer beflügelt, egal in welche Richtung, so freue ich mich darüber. 🙂
