    I have used both. I am a former epoxy user (severe reactions made me stop) and it is a learning curve for sure. However, once you consider the time it takes to mix the epoxy up, and then babysit it to make sure there are no bubbles, I don't mind the additional coats. It is actually much less stressful for me. 2 minutes every two hours sure beats 25 - 30 to mix, apply and babysit every epoxy coat in my opinion. But everyone has their own thing and I get it. I waited until I had a reaction to try to use something different and the reason was because of the amount of coats it requires. But, honestly, once you get the hang of it, it doesn't take that many coats to get it shiny and pretty. You didn't smoosh your glitter before applying the Hyperion and that will make a BIG difference in the amount of coats it takes to get your cup smooth. Please give it another try. I, at times, still miss my epoxy, but I like the fact that I can see while I'm doing my cups now.... lol

    Hi Courtney, I’m the owner of W&B products and we’d love to help you get the hang of Hyperion. The first 3 coats should be flood coats with upto 20ml. After the 3rd coat you should be gentle sanding with 400 grit, then after layer 5 it would be a level sand. You should be done by layer 6/7 on a cup like this 😊

    Ok, I’m going to give this another shot. I’ve been using HP since it was introduced in the US by Crafting with CT. First, for the first layer, you want to really work it into all the nooks & crannies. You can flood coat for the first few coats. Second, you can level sand after layer 3 or 4. Third, wet sand with 400 grit sandpaper. Fourth, I’ve found using a Taklon or fan brush soak up less product. Fifth, you can leave your brush in water between coats, but use plain water…not soapy. Lastly, please let the HP cure fully (just 10 days!) before you add epoxy. Again, your burst is beautiful! I really hope you’ll reach out to one of us who have been using the product for almost a year before you give up on it❤

      Crystalac's Grand Finale dries in 2 hours and is less expensive. It gives a glass like shine clearer than epoxy. Buy their smallest container and check it out. Watch their videos and learn about it before buying it. I've been a user for 2 years. I've never used epoxy.

  • @alwaysachevysilveradogirl7475

  • @Megan-VR
    @Megan-VR Před rokem

    Hyperion is similar to Crystalac Grand Finale and I had the same frustrations. I work full time so I could only put a coat or 2 on a day and it was taking forever to do a cup. I also like wet sanding which you can't do and you have to wait for any spray paint, alcohol inks etc to gas off for 48 hours before you can even apply it. To finicky for me to deal with right now. I use now it as a sealer for my first coat or 2 to lessen my epoxy coats.

    Hi Courtney. I'm a long-time (almost 2 years now) subscriber. I've been a tumbler maker for 2 years now and have always used Crytalac products. I wanted to be able to make my tumblers in my home. Not outside in a shed or garage all by myself. Could you do a review of Crystalac's Grand Finale? It too has a 2-hour dry time and is a thicker formula. If you do try it, can you please watch some of their videos to learn how to use it so as to get the best results? A quart of Grand Finale is $39.95 a gallon is $99.95. They do have other sizes as well. I do hope you'll give it a try.

    just curious why you waited until 8 layers to sand? if you sand after the 3rd layer will help get your tumbler smoother much quicker.
