Sadly, he is not very prolific. All the artists admire his works, but in the age where you are not putting out stuff, you are not relevant. LIke Alex Ross does multiple covers for Marvel every month. I wonder how long Adam and Alex does a cover. Adam paints on the computer and Alex does the traditional painting? I wonder...

Between the different Strathmore art pads, I differently prefer the recycled paper (Green) pads over the traditional brown ones. I find that the recycled paper turns whiter over time than the brown ones which turn more yellow. I have green pads that date back to when they first were available (I think a bit over 20yrs old) and they're still as white as the day I first got them.

Great Video Rich! Its always fun to see the behind the scenes stuff artists are doing. So much we see is the finished stuff and as ive started getting back into art in the last 10 years, things like this are very cool. Not to mention - keep the sketch book exactly that, a sketch book. I too often get lost trying to make things finished pieces, rather than just playing around and having fun sketching.

I have noticed that many artists have gotten away from doing the most dynamic poses possible. How to Draw Comics The Marvel Way show the poses that are the most action packed, and is the first book most comic artists start with. Why do you think the artists go away from that? Many of their figures are stylized, but not flowing. They seem to like the cross hatch over flow.

That artwork is DEFINITELY Kevin Macguire’s artwork because I am looking at the wizard guide where they featured those drawings (they were for how to draw expressions and make expressive faces by combing attributes from different emotions to create new looks) and the credits clearly say Macguire. This is why I hate for non collectors and non comic people to just get high dollar items for the money they can get from resale. They usually know dick-all about the writers, characters, titles, artists and any other thing associated with comics except for “I heard I could make big money off this stuff”. Some of these morons, if you are convincing enough, will believe that Stan Lee was Batman’s creator or that Todd McFarlane was a silver age writer and will go on forever none the wiser because they didn’t care to look into anything they are hocking off on people. Now if the person who bought that artwork wanted to return it because they were looking for Adam Hughes art, the sellers would only look at the piece for damage or defects not even REMOTELY thinking that you falsely advertised merchandise for a sale due to product ignorance. I wish that the reselling scalper types would get the hell out of comics and related merchandise because they screw up a ton of stuff for real comic enthusiasts and collectors. If this recent release of PS5’s has taught us anything I sure hope first and foremost it’s: scalpers ALWAYS make everything WORSE!
