I’d argue yes for a few reasons. 1. Solo needed a big win to justify a match with Cody at SummerSlam. He had to pin either Orton or Cody. 2. Cody for the last 4 months has been a house of fire. He needed some form of loss to keep fans from getting to Super Cena/Bianca levels of “here we go again”. 3. Puts over Jacob Fatu and the new bloodline like a million bucks. Which was the entire point of the match. Cody’s pinned Roman, Brock, current world champion Priest, and Rollins 3 times. He can 100% take this loss without looking week.
The thing I find most hilarious about this whole situation is the sea of IWC warriors that would clown Cody all day everyday for never appearing weak and always winning. First it was they can’t stand that he’s winning all the time, and now they can’t stand that he took the pin and lost for the sake of a storyline? I mean which one is it?

I dont have a problem with him being pinned but i wish it would’ve taken atleast 3 samoan spikes, i think Cody, Roman, Gunther and Maybe Seth (after mania where he kicked out of like 5 claymores with 2 torn ligaments in his knee and a broken back) need to ultra protected so i wish it wouldve taken a bit more but no problem with the decision
It’s a 6 man cluster match and Jacob assisted Solo in taking Cody out. This was the only way Solo could get a match against Cody by having the “I pinned you” factor. Cody is just fine. Roman and Drew pinned Cody but it wasn’t a clean finish. Rock and Solo pinned Cody but it was in a tag team melee. Just let the storyline crockpot its magic.
I agree with the decision for Solo pinning Cody and I like the new Bloodline but I also think Solo is missing something in his character and needs a bit more work. I’m still interested in seeing Cody vs Solo especially since at summerslam it’s gonna be a big test for Solo if he can hang in the main event picture at a major PLE. We’ll see what happens.

I think a lot of people in this includes myself got stuck on the idea of Roman’s bloodline because it was around for so long that the idea of a new bloodline is going to take some time before fans really start taking it seriously. On SmackDown last night Solo was starting to do a lot of the like facial expressions that Roman did during promos were he kind of smirks or looks to the side when he’s annoyed. So I’m starting to see Solo be more vocal on the mic and in his expressions which I think is a great step forward for him in being the head of the bloodline. I think a lot of people were thinking Solo was going to lose because they were imaging a feud between Roman and Solo, not Solo and Cody. That’s just my guess from comments and reactions I’ve seen online. At first, I thought Cody was going to win but now I understand why Solo won and what it did for his role as the Tribal Chief.

There is one problem with this, where does Cody go if he loses the title to solo? The rock ain’t coming back till after he’s done filming which could be around late September depending on if he’s not already done filming and you can’t start a feud with him and Randy without the title on the line.
I admittedly didn't like Cody being the one to take the pin. However, I do understand why they would go that route. With Solo pinning Cody, that should put Solo in the running to challenge for the WWE Undisputed title against Cody. We all know it's going to be Gunther vs Damian Priest at SummerSlam, Cody is going to need an opponent and it would make sense for it to be Solo and for that to be the reason why Roman Reigns returns.

I feel like a couple weeks ago all I was hearing was they were worried about Jacob Fatu outshining Solo, and Cody not having a ‘legit contender’ to fight during his championship run… Now they’re building Solo up by having him pin Cody, and people are still complaining. We can’t win, bro.

People just like to complain to much…Many didn’t want Roman as champ and now look.. they don’t want to see anyone else in the spot…But Cody is doing just fine and yes in order to build Solo & Bloodline 2.0 this win was needed or else nothing will change…. This helps move the story forward.

I’d say it was the right decision since it gives solo a reason to be able to challenge for the title since he technically did pin the champion and I think it’s okay because it’s not like he did it clean either and didn’t do it by himself

Right move. It’ll play into Roman vs Solo’s bloodline. Solo will have bragging rights by telling Roman that he’s pinned Cody clean (even though Jacob did all the work) and the only time Roman could beat Cody was when he needed his help at WM39 (Solo’s interference)

It makes sense, Solo pins Cody get a match at Summer Slam and just as Solo is about to win Paul Heyman comes back with Roman.
I think it all depends on the situation considering that solo won only one or two matches and lost more then half I think it was a okay move because the new blood line needed to make an impact from the beginning including solo sikoa.
I agree. For Solo to win it helps push his role as Tribal Chief. At the same time it takes a shot at Roman because Solo did something Roman didn’t and that was pin Cody.
@MrKP525 exactly solo deserves this recognition specially as a heel cody is a great Babyface but he needs great heel to dance with figuratively speaking. this will definitely boost solo up he really needs it they need to make him a dominant force and by no means does this hurt Cody's momentum but it actually increases it because the trials help build his babyface roll even in this situation it works for Cody and Solo.

I think a lot of people in this includes myself got stuck on the idea of Roman’s bloodline because it was around for so long that the idea of a new bloodline is going to take some time before fans really start taking it seriously. On SmackDown last night Solo was starting to do a lot of the like facial expressions that Roman did during promos were he kind of smirks or looks to the side when he’s annoyed. So I’m starting to see Solo be more vocal on the mic and in his expressions which I think is a great step forward for him in being the head of the bloodline. I think some more wins for Solo will really help boost his status as tribal chief and fans will start to get more invested into him.
Do you think that Roman will return at SummerSlam then? I guess it makes sense he would because it’s a big PLE and I can’t see WWE having Roman return on SmackDown or a smaller PLE.

I think a lot of people were thinking Solo was going to lose because they were imaging a feud between Roman and Solo, not Solo and Cody. That’s just my guess from comments and reactions I’ve seen online. At first, I thought Cody was going to win but now I understand why Solo won and what it did for his role as the Tribal Chief.

There is one problem with this, where does Cody go if he loses the title to solo? The rock ain’t coming back till after he’s done filming which could be around late September depending on if he’s not already done filming and you can’t start a feud with him and Randy without the title on the line.

I admittedly didn't like Cody being the one to take the pin. However, I do understand why they would go that route. With Solo pinning Cody, that should put Solo in the running to challenge for the WWE Undisputed title against Cody. We all know it's going to be Gunther vs Damian Priest at SummerSlam, Cody is going to need an opponent and it would make sense for it to be Solo and for that to be the reason why Roman Reigns returns.

After Cody won his story is now boring cause really Ortan and Owens had to deal with the Bloodline and Punk and Drew and Rollins get more buzz then Cody does. He got his belt win and now someone else needs be champion cause the Roman 2 years method is waste of a belt like that and other people who should carry they belt. Cody can win it again by end of the year but whats wrong with an Orton 2 month reign or Owens or Punk
