  • The US healthcare system ranks last among developed countries, ranking lowest on a number of dimensions, such as access, efficiency, equity, healthy lives, and costs. Assistant Professor Kevin Look at the UW-Madison School of Pharmacy focuses on research that will improve the structure and function of the US healthcare system, identifying ways to enhance healthcare in order to improve people's health.
His primary research focus is evaluating the impact of changes to insurance coverage and cost containment policies on access to healthcare. Dr. Look and his research team have conducted several studies on national and state policies. These include evaluating the impact of several provisions of the federal Affordable Care Act, such as the young adult insurance expansion, and the state of Wisconsin's Medicaid program to look at the impact of the 2014 Wisconsin Medicaid drug coverage expansion on anti-diabetic medication use and out-of-pocket spending.
