The thing is Yojinbo was based on the hard boiled detective novel Red Harvest by Dashiell Hammett, who also wrote The Maltese Falcon. The protagonist of the book is a detective, who's name you never learn, who goes to a mining town in the 1920's and gets caught up in the war between a number of bootlegger gangs and the corrupt city officials. After a few of them try to kill him he gets fed up and escalates the war, first pretending to help one group and then another until everyone is gunning for each other.
An interesting side note, the detective mentions that the pervasive violence of the town has even infected him and made him "blood simple." A term that Ethan Coen would later use for the title of his famous 1984 crime movie.

This appeared in another clip "The making of Fistful of Dollars" on CZcams. I think this fat guy, a small role is played by Sergio Leone himself when shooting the film just like what Hitchcock done in his film. According to an interview it was the intended opening originally written in the script but for somewhat reason Leone not use it later. Two of his films suffer from a certain half-way slump - FFDM and OUTW. The Fistful is so fresh, sharp and absurdly violent I like it the best. The later ones developed a comical flavor which I like, too, but they're more self-conscious than the debut.

Both those movies are absolutely incredible. I was planning on doing a video about how much I love "The Searchers" and now I think I'll do one on "The Oxbow Incident" as well.

The spaghetti westerns were trash movies and drug down the quality of western movies overall.

Certainly the quality of the Italian westerns were variable but some are incredible. Which ones have you seen?

@Kriss Wegemer: YOU’RE WRONG! The reason why the “spaghetti westerns” are si great & influential is because how they were filmed! Before 1964 all westerns were so stereotypical they seemed fake! Good guy white hat, clean shaven, cattle crossing rivers, bad guy black hat clean shaven at some campfire…They all looked the same! The dollar trilogy made cowboys gruff looking, with the music scores more adapt to the movies & the characters seemed more authentic to the times…Look back at ALL the cowboy movies before 1964 & name one that seems authentic!

Thanks for the comment William! Do you consider "The Good, the Bad & the Ugly" a prequel then?
