- In this video, we look at the
Blizzard Survival Bag -- $30
Ortvox Gemini -- $60
Military Bivvy Bag -- $40
Sierra Designs Backcountry Bivvy -- $150
OR Outdoor Research Alpine Bivvy -- $300
The bivy that I have found that best suits my needs is the USMC Improved Bivy Cover. It's Gore-Tex, has mesh covering with a waterproof closable window that is held off of the face by bendable wire. And it's coyote brown, my favorite color! It's similar to your OR Advanced.
Hard to find one in decent shape for a good price though. Thats what has kept me away from that model. If I recall from your videos even you had issues.
@@turtlewolfpack6061 once we washed them properly they've not missed a beat.
@@robertsbushcraft ah that's right! It was Manitoba Bushcraft got sent the garbage under the label of like new!
@@turtlewolfpack6061 yes, he had quite a time with his.
Great videos again Selina. I was disappointed you did not cover breathability and condensation on all the options.
It’s a very important factor knowing how wet you will be after sleeping in any shelter, especially in winter or bad weather if you can’t dry your clothes for any reason.
Warm and wet due to condensation compared to warm and dry with less condensation is a big deciding factor when choosing your emergency shelter.
I have the O.R. advanced. It's awesome! It is one of the only bivis that has a zippered vent in the foot box. It's a 4 season shelter.
It is one of the best I have come across.
@@PeakSurvival i will be sleeping one day in a tent (i was yesterday at:"biggis reiterhof" and we made little plans (not official yet because she also needs to look in her diary when no events are there that i will be 2 or 3 days at there including overnight stay in a tent and sleeping bag), i was only in a tepee and evrytime things fly around me i had not a good sleep but it was still a nice weekend from 29.06.2019-30.06.2019 (after my birthday on june 28th.). And in tents i think there is nothing that can "fly inside like midges or something like that" (the mosquito mesh would prevent it right?) Because i don't know it and i don't want to waken up evrytime from sounds of things that fly around me. A tepee is "open" but tents looks "completly closed". I would like to get a respond from you so i'm sure that nothing wakes me up at night and i'm not waste my sleep by chasing away mosquitos.
Great video
Wow! Where have you been?! It's great to see you back.
Thanks Rob, I have been Super busy with work, but thanks to Corona I have allot of time on my hands
Enjoyable and informative regarding options for lightweight shelter. In a future video review I hope you will provide reviews of Snugpak's Stratosphere and Ionosphere bivi shelters.
I will check them out, I like Snugpak they make some really good gear.
Ortvox Gemini ------------- $60 = 10 oz / 283 grams / 1/2 pound
Blizzard Survival Bag -- $30 = 18oz / 530 Grams / 1 pound
Military Bivvy Bag ------ $40 = 33 oz / 940 Grams / 2 pounds
SDBackcountry Bivvy-- $150 = 652 Grams / 1.5 pounds
OR Alpine Bivvy ----------- $300 = 964 Grams / 2 pounds
Poor design , cause scotty is stuck and unable to operate the zippers.
I lovey bivys and they range from the SOL versions to the USGI with several models between. A bit surprised you didn't cover the Dutch Army hooped version.
Dutch Army is a Cracking Bivvy, good call.
You need a much better microphone solution. Your voice fades as you wander off and I cannot hear you.
