  • Latest iteration of my 1.5JZ build.
    The mission of this was to see how far the stock 1JZ vvti head could go, and what differences it showed compared to a 2JZ head using a similar setup. Could it get close the magic 1000hp horsepower number?
    TLDR Version:
    - Makes the same/similar power as a similar speced 2J. However makes power earlier and does not hold it very long. Does not want to make power over 7k.
    - Makes a huge amount more torque in the midrange compared to a 2J.
    Full spec list can be found here: docs.google.co...

    So with the stock port 1j head, itll make power and trq earlier but dont really like the high end?

    • @0x33_Uk
      @0x33_Uk  Před 3 lety +1

      With a 2J bottom end thats the results that I found. No more power to be made after 7k, even though boost was holding and no exhaust pressure issues. Maybe a 1JZ vvt with 1JZ bottom end will make power after 7k.

      @@0x33_Uk i think its dued to the small EX ports on the 1j vvti head. But thats good info to know.

    Does this build run a stock timing tensioner bracket at that power

    Wouldn't the extra torque be a product of the higher compression ratio than a gte?

    So what is your concensus on the 1jz vvti head vs 1jz non-vvti head?

    Wait… can a stock 1jz-gte be ported like a 2jz gte head? Is there enough material?
    Edit: Also, love the build❤️ I assume this car was an na model at first.

      Yes there is enough for porting. I may give it a go one day. Yes started off as a NA 5 Speed SZ-R

    Looks like the turbo is done . Too much drive/ back pressure or the turbo is tapped out airflow wise. Is it a falling boost curve ? All that torque down low is going to be hard on the engine .

    • @0x33_Uk
      @0x33_Uk  Před 3 lety +2

      Turbine back pressure barely goes over a ratio of 1 by the time red line is reached, so no restriction on exhaust side. Turbo can do a little more, but head is inefficient. There is no boost drop, wastegate duty holds flat till redline.
      Meh engine was built to take some shit, if it dies it dies whatever.

    Will this turbo make 1000whp on a 3.0 liter like a 2j or n54 or is it better to size up to 7275?

    • @0x33_Uk
      @0x33_Uk  Před 3 lety +1

      It will but will have to work it hard. 7275 will do 1000whp with less stress.

  • @MaxS2000
    @MaxS2000 Před 3 lety

    Do you think this turbo could crack 1000whp? It is rated for 1150hp by PTE and they rate their stuff pretty good

    • @0x33_Uk
      @0x33_Uk  Před 3 lety

      It should yes but you will have to run it hard, especially with a 1JZ head. I stopped at around 2.3 Bar of boost, as I was worried about lifting the head as only using standard ARP head bolts and the torque output was getting a bit high.
      I'd imagine around the 2.6-2.8 bar region would get you to 1000whp. On a better breathing head/setup you should be able to achieve with slightly less boost.
      Its output is very similar to 6870. Which can also do 1000whp if you push it to the max, but might be more reliable to use 7275 if you want 1000whp easier.

    Hi @mikeJZA80 have you been able to do a 100-200 timed run with your dogbox and 6870? I'm currently using a 6466 on 2J non vvti stock bottom end - the best i can do so far with my v160 is 5.3s - this is achieved with rolling antilag/or brake boosting at 80kph in third and then shifting once. I would like to get into the 4s with a sequential manual and a bit more power. if your 6870 setup can do that than im sold!

    • @0x33_Uk
      @0x33_Uk  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey, best I’ve done so far is 4.1s 100-200 @ 2.4bar boost. I’m using r154dogbox with 3.26 diff ratio so I can do the whole run in third gear using some brake boosting to get me going. I was struggling with grip might be a 3.9 in it if I can get it to hook when it comes on with my setup.

    • @Clint2jz
      @Clint2jz Před 2 lety +1

      @@0x33_Uk that's Impressive Mike, especially since most high powered supras struggle to get 4s with lag and traction problems. So based on your results i think the 6870 is a good choice
      then - no need to go bigger
