I'm not fooled. These people are a piece of work. Stealing his ideas then refusing to acknowledge until he's an old man. I'm happy for him to finally get it but it's clear to me they're only doing it to trick the next generation into the same. And I want to know, how many of his inventions have they weaponized?

I love this. I have a kid who has this spark and he's a problem solver. He's been working at our local university electronics laboratory and doing a great deal of technical work. I'd love to see him able to work with his creative and fantasy side.
You should get together with your kid an pen an old fashioned letter to Larry.....this could give your child something to focus on.

If I'd been Akhenaten in a former life, that would explain my lack of desire for participating in this world with its current level of ignorance and fear.
Jack Fresco's Venus Project would be awesome, but only if there were no selfish characters involved seeking to stand out amongst everyone else as if they were the end-all, be-all of humankind.
That would be nice, but we have to remember that even if the technology was available to make these beds, people would still have to fight to navigate thru a sea of red tape to conquer the "Feed-Me-SEYMOUR" insatible greed that insurance companies and for profit medical facilities often have.
Most of these companies care more about their profits than the care of their patients.
I think every VR headset needs that floor, I couldn't go without it.

As a black man and a Star Wars fan I had no ideal that this black genius was behind the light saber. Amazing but not surprised because their are many inventions done by black people that are hidden. By the way the Jedi were real people in history who had the " force" of the Jedidiah bloodline in the bible but they were also called prophets. Makes sense didn't Moses have the force. Didn't Jesus have the force. They all were black as well.

Here's an interesting piece of trivia: the Mass Ave. bridge that connects the Back Bay of Boston to MIT is measured in Smoots. According to legend, someone named Smoot was laid end to end on the bridge, making him a unit of measure. Wonder if that Smoot is related to Lanny Smoot. Hmm...

Why don't we learn about these people until their old and probably about to retire or have died?
You know why, people like Mr. Smoot destroy the narrative that Black people have never contributed anything to the betterment of society. But on the contrary, we invented the radiator, traffic lights, the underpinning for GPS technology, and the monkey wrench just to name a few. And we most certainly can't look over the fact that a Black man invented the folding chair, possibly one of the most important inventions of all time.
