I have an 8-string, and I know how hard it is to get a tight tone, in any amplifier, especially in a Plexi-style! Well done Fortin, and great playing from Ola too!

Sounds good but not $7000 good. Can buy 3 amps that get same tones for that price. This is why people wait for plugins of amps.

No doubt. I actually prefer their old thrashier/more melodic sound. That’s just me though. Something for everyone. I just love those types of riffs and tones haha.

Sounds nothing like Korn. Their sound is big muff into dua recto. Not nearly as aggressive, tight and chuggy as this sound. Korn sound amazing, just very different
Sounds like old school Aussie hardcore like Carpathian and I Killed The Prom Queen. Perfect tone for those beefy breakdowns 👌

Good time for Neural DSP to update their Nameless Suite, so it could feature this mode. It's their least updated plugin with almost zero functionality compared to their other stuff, but it sounds so good

I think a lot of people don’t appreciate how tight and consistent Ola’s playing is. At the end with that really aggressive gate engaged, the riffs sounded like a looper because he played it so consistently every time

The sound of this amp is absolutely unbelievable…with the fortin 33 boost, it’s litterally a war machine…I would love to try it with my PRS 24 or my 7 string ESP-EC….

Just like the Fortin Nameless plugin and the first Meshuggah amp I seriously think this is my favourite distortion for a lot of modern metal. It's just amazing.

I appreciate that you used their older riffs for the intro 😄. They used to be the kings of chug 🤘😎🤘. It would have been awesome if they had pulled a Neural DSP, and included a “Fred” switch, that would engage his unique lead tone.
A lot of his weird lead tone comes from some odd pedals like the Mothership.
@@harrymanbach that's interesting. Is that a newer pedal? I'm wondering, since he's had that amazing (almost keyboard sounding) lead tone since their first couple of albums in the 90s. Check out his lead tone on old songs like Soul Burn and Acrid Placidity to see what I mean. It's a very subtle tone, but extremely unique at the same time. I've heard thousands of bands and no lead tone sounds quite like his.
@@mr.nervedamage7463 That would be the homemade "breathe" MIDI controller Fred had made. With whatever processor he was using it gave the leads a tone like a wind instrument. You can see him blowing into on several live videos in the early years. I got a schematic of it years ago online. I haven't seen him use it in a really long time.
@@harrymanbach Thanks, that's really interesting. Sort of like some sort of custom talk box effect. I'm assuming he's found simpler ways to get similar sounds in recent years haha.

Wow that sounds good. Truly the Meshuggah sound in a couple of boxes.
Those couple of boxes are probably pushing close to $10k after tax and shipping though. This head is selling on Reverb right now for $6,200 USD. Absolutely ridiculous for tone you can get with comparatively affordable used gear.
@@RX120D And? Lots of gear is expensive. Just impressive that it straight up sounds like Meshuggah. Loads of artist-affiliated gear doesn't acheive that.

I think this amp works really well for the super low drop tunes due to the tight note definition. Not my cup of tea for modern metal tones and higher gain needs.

Cool Amp very modern mid-ranged growl and grind to it awesome!!!
I like how the amp retains a bit of dynamics and clarity while holding a decent amount of hair/gain. You can easily tune it up to sound like heartwork/carcass tone with a marshall like od/distortion booster. Nice really nice tone!
Or you could just use a 5150/6505 :D

3-5 g’s seems to be the standard when it comes to boutique high end amps. Fortin, soldano, revv, Engl, driftwood, diezel. Even a stock Marshall 2203 is like 3300

On its own it has so much hi frequency, kinda disappointed. The overall sound is really dry and crunchy

Wow that sounds good. I was curious about as much as these bands are tuning lower and lower, when they're either going to start playing through bass cabs, or if some company will manufacture speakers with a lower threshold.
That was the original idea, but even with tuning as low as a bass, it still doesn’t sound like a bass. Also there have been baritone guitars used in the industry for longer than metal music has been around so 🤷🏽♂️ it’s more about the timbre and attack of the instrument than the pitches being played
I still wish randall made that cabinet that dimebag used with the two 12" and one 15" on the bottom. I know they're pretty hard to find these days.

K-100s are good for that. The 100w has much higher headroom and it's voiced with a lower resonance. Mick Thomson used to use one for that exact reason. Though they only tune to B

Soul Burn oh lawd. Destroy Erase Improve as a whole is my benchmark for perfect metal tone and this shines.
I got ONLY have 8,9 AND 10 string guitars and need plug ins just to make it sound tight and good! I tried the first amp and my Mesas are still great but this is impressive! I wonder how much this is going to run me bc as of now it's between a new studio equipment or this amp! This would be great for recording bc I miss recording old school everything is digital now! But a lot of bands are going back to the old ways bc of SOUND! Got my drums all natural now I need THIS in my life for my collection! WOW THAT LOW END SOUNDS GREAT!

Limited again? Damn, I wish they just made a full production model. I love the plugin as the mix of modern gain but with that classic Plexi mid and treble tone that cuts so well.

Sounds very different from modern hi gain amps these days. Sounds more like a classic Marshall style amp. I like.
If it's anything like the first revision, that's what it is. The first gen Meshuggah is a modded Marshall with diode clipping at the end of the preamp for more saturation. The defining feature is that the preamp circuit is tuned slightly differently to reduce more bass and super high treble.

Damn amp sounds like it might smoke the Krankenstein from Dime's last years with Damagplan.
I've not heard such a brutally chuggy amp that maintains the single note fidelity and tightens right up the second a palm mute is applied.
