She has great taste in metal
Where the Slime Live is such a badass riff.
I also can't hear that song name without hearing the gurgly drainpipe opening vocals in my head.
Fun fact the Bloodbath song "Mock the Cross" was inspired by that riff
It was the perfect touch for that song.
It's so fucking good
The official tabs to their discography are revealed in a vision when you play quake 3 on acid vs Trey Azagthoth
I think CZcams hid my last one. Morbid… y’know… shirt when?
CZcams is crazy with censoring comments these days
Sworn To The Black is some of the coolest riffing they ever wrote, would've been great to show Dean that
muh nigguh!
Always a great day when there’s new Dean and Claire
Summoning Redemption is one of the greatest death metal riffs all time. I can listen to it on repeat for 2 hours straight.
the frogs are the best
2 hours and 1 minute id blow my goddam brains out
What happens after the second hour?
@@adamzeller7979 Lol 👍 IKR? BUT? THAT frog 🐸 intro ISN'T frogs/gators in the Floridian swamp, believe it or not 🤔 It is ACTUALLY some more "studio trickery sounds" that Trey Azagtoth and the studio producer used/did "in the studio" to do that. Sorry, I am obviously NOT a studio savvy guy OR I might be able to describe in depth on what they actually DID there but,yeah... I actually, JUST read about /found this out THIS year somewhere online etc....Them Morbid dudes are just on another whole different level, Lol. Just wish Trey could do something MORE along, "the whole 90s Morbid sound" again, (for me personally). Gateways WAS the last decent MA album to these ears, just needed some more faster tracks (I think) to have made it "another great one". The gawd awful Heretic is unlistenable, that Illud was...??? WTF , even though it has couple good tracks, and that last one? It's the soundtrack to my sleep disorder 🥱😴 SMH 😕...

How is it possibile to play in a DM band but not having listened to morbid angel a lot?? it boggles my mind
Yeah it's kinda dissapointing
Yeah, i repeat again...I don't know what the hell happened to these new death metal musicians... because you have many bands, like suffocation, sinister, gorefest, pestilence, autopsy, macabre, pungent stench, carcass, centurian, severe torture, deeds of flesh, disgorge (us), krisiun, cryptopsy, incantation, mortician ... and the list goes on and goes on..
@@sigurdr it's basically because Dean is a prog nerd and deathcore guy at heart. He just happens to play in a dm band, but he isn't really a "dm guy" per se.That being stated, he should still brush up on some history and do research if he has the time.
@@CZcams_gets_dumber_each_year You're right, I missed that point, because I read a comment of yours talking about the songwriting and structure... it's totally deathcore. Honestly it disgusts me because if we listen to spawn of possession, origin, nile, the faceless, gutted for example, that's brutal technical death metal, not this. not this !!
Gatekeeping is lame
I really want to see Ulcerate in "4 levels..."
Far too difficult/intricate.
Missing: Maze of Torment, Immortal Rites, Pain Divine, Rapture, and many other more difficult riffs than the ones chosen. At least imo.
I'm sure learning all these old school death metal songs will help you with writing catchier oonga boonga caveman rifts with Archspire in the future
You gotta do the stomp walk while playing these lol
@@starkillaog8118 yup
old school DM production > modern DM production
Too many DM bands now sounds plastic, you barely feel the "death" in them anymore.
Amp modelers set to 5150
One could argue that plastic is the deadest sounding thing of all
This rules. I went a long time never listening to Domination because people don't give it it's due but nowadays it's my favorite Morbid Angel record. Wanted to see Dawn of the Angry's opening riff because it's one of the catchiest death metal riffs ever.
Domination is a perfect "transition" record from the David Vincent era to Steve Tucker era
Their only garbage album is illud.
domination and formulas are absolutely some of the sickest death metal albums out there.
Caeser's Palace is awesome too. Whole album is great. Death metal classic
This couple are awesome always. Thanks Dean for your videos. You professional in music and in jokes
How can Dean be "not really aware" of Morbid Angel or Deicide? Bizarre!
It's like a thrash band not being aware of Exodus or Kreator.
Coz he's a bit of a poser?
You can hear it in Archspire's music that he isn't aware of it. Everything that makes the genre of death metal so good is absent from Archspire.
@@rohitchaoji what inspired him to play Death Metal, Slipknot?
@@godetonter4764 idk, possibly. I've met a lot of "death metal" musicians that play in bog standard Cannibal Corpse clone bands whose main inspiration is Slipknot, so you might not be too far off.
You guys should totally learn "Beneath the Hollow"! That one's way sick and has a cool little dual-guitar thing going on 😈
It's from their Heretic album!
Love Morbid Angel, this one was awesome, keep teaching each other please 🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥💥
Ayyy Opening of the Gates is one of my favorites - something about that low tremolo picking progression is just sick
Props to her for Gateways being her favorite MA album! It's probably mine too!
Nothing beats Altar or Covenant for me, but Gateways is right next!
@@armandoarrojo9841 I go back and forth between Gateways and Altars. Covenant is definitely the 3rd top pick for me. MA had quite the legendary run back in the day.
@@TheMetalGaia for sure man, so many classics in the early years
@@armandoarrojo9841 today is actually the 25th anniversary of the release of Death's final album, The Sound of Perseverance. I will always love this genre of music!
@@wrongone8378 Heretic is solid, I wasn't big on the production, but some decent tunes and riffs from Trey.
No I don't know which album you mean, what is it? 🤔 Lol jk, I know it's "Iluv Anus" as I call it haha.
Love the Gateways love, which is my favorite MA album with "Summoning Redemption" as my favorite track. Little interesting info about the intro track, and "Summoning Redemption" is that the noise played in the intro, and throughout Summoning is an analog recording of a frog that was in Trey Azagthoths back yard. Keith Merrow confirmed this on a YT video he did.
You guys are so entertaining, I love it
It would be awesome to have a Part 2 episode when you teach Dean the more complex riffs, like something out of Altars of Madness, or some riffs from Fall From Grace or Rapture
Summoning Redemption is my favourite MA song, glad to see some Gateways love! Formulas is a fantastic and underrated record as well.
Would love to see you guys do some 4 levels of Opeth; I bet Mikael or Fredrik would be up for it!
Love this. You guys are awesome.
You guys were definitely both rocking out on the last one. It's a fun riff to listen to, guess I'll have to try it out myself. Love the band, but never attempted to play any of it. Insane crow posse lives on.
There’s honestly too many riffs that could be included for Morbid… love the inclusion of some Gateways however! Wish we could’ve seen some FFTTF, some riffs on that album are absolutely fucking chaotic and very hard to get right! Awesome stuff as always guys
Thanks for introducing me to Sheet Happens, I hadnt thought about actually buying tab books for years, but these look like they're really nice and the 15 percent is nice. Cool video as usual.
Level 4 has been stuck in my head for like a week but I didn't know what it was. Thank you two!
Gateways to annihliation is such a badass album. Definitely my favorite album!
The banter between you two is the best part of these videos
SICK! Fond memories of hitting Morbid Angel in Seattle together, Claire!
YOS. I LOVE THESE OSDM VIDS!!!
Awesome video, learning and playing.
Four Levels of PESTILENCE would slay!
Gateways is my fav too! Great riff selection !
Dean in two months the cold water won’t even phase you. Also your shorts are too short. Love you both.
I love you both separately, but together you are HYSTERICAL! Together you are comedy GOLD and I live for it! 🤣😍💖
Turn down dem mids Dean...thus is old school death metal, baby!😝
I saw Morbid Angel for the first time in 2001 with Steve Tucker on vocals. Unreal experience. Great video!
1:14 - "and you taught me some CRAYOLA FILTH"
SUBTITLES, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE
I love the kiesel crackle!!!🤘😎👍Very cool guys...Love this channel.
My buddy used to have a band called Morbid Anal Fog... I think there are still janky videos of it on CZcams somewhere.
Watching this wholesome couple with the bald head and hoop earings play the filthiest riffs is my favorite show. Keep doing that.
So glad you decided to tackle gateways riffs. Best morbid album come fight me Dave cowboy stans
I don't think I've laughed so much in 30 seconds than the first 30 seconds of this video. Thanks you two, please keep doing these, my girlfriend and I love them
Omfg, thank you for choosing my favorite Morbid Angel tune! Lyrics... Eghh, but that fucking riff I still remember to this day, and the cool vocal effects! And hell MAs unique guitar tone was just that! No one else was doing it at the time! They where unique!
This is really great content 💥💥
Claire's guitar looks really cool.
You guys are funny.
My favorite youtubers, amazing content as always. Even got my fiance into yalls videos
Rutan Era MA is the best, glad to see my favorite riff on here. Cheers Dean and Claine
Claire's pick attack sounds great!
yall are great at banter
Im glad you had where the slime live, my favorite morbid angel song
I’m shocked that she didn’t teach him Maze Of Torment or Damnation. Those two songs are (in my opinion) some of Morbid Angel’s best!
brainstorm is one of the best morbid angel songs
Straight outta the gate with HAAATEWRRRRRK! my favourite Morbid Angel song!
Seen a few of these videos. The one thing that strikes me is how fucking cool it is to see 2 similar people find each other and do shit they like together.
I would've chosen this list but love the video!
1 .World of Shit
2. Dawn of the Angry
3. Visions from the Dark Side
4. Praise The Strength
The editing in these videos always kill me lol the best
Our wife* teaches you old death metal
I love those Crow-matic riffs!
The way Dean explains liking more produced metal makes so much sense. It makes me think back on the 27 years I've been into metal and understand how I got to listening to certain bands over others. Thanks to you, porcelain guitarists!
horrendous, I love the crunchier and echoy guitar sound of early death metal
I dont mind clean productions and stuff but love primitive caveman stuff like Anal Cunt, Proclamation, Blasphemy, Nargaroth, Horna, Darkthrone and stuff
I’m seriously glad to hear summoning redemption made it on to this list!! 🤘💀🤘
Woooo! Best videos on CZcams!
It honestly surprises me every time how a Nu-metal loving Limp Bizcuit fan/lover can be one of the greatest rhythmic shreders on the planet. *mindblown*
I was at that show Archspire was great!
We also have that cold cold Canadian water in our Tushy as well
Oh and Claire, there are some live clips of theirs uploaded by ovd806, David Vincent sounds unbelievable, it's worth checking out
It should be illegal to literally be in a death metal band and not listen to Morbid Angel DEAN PLEASE
I think..., I don't know what the hell happened to these new death metal musicians... because you have many bands, like suffocation, sinister, gorefest, pestilence, autopsy, macabre, pungent stench, carcass, centurian, severe torture, deeds of flesh, disgorge (us), krisiun, cryptopsy, incantation, mortician ... and the list goes on and goes on..
@@sigurdr new dm musicians are focused more on technicality and fine production, than they are about creating an atmosphere and a mood. For them everything has to be ADHD guitar solo djent squeeling wankery. I cant even listen to Archspire, its like pouring sugar in my ears. Every song boils down to cramming it with as much arpeggios and squeels as possible.
@@z0h33y Agree, Archspire are about as good as their name, which is shite.
@@z0h33y well go listen to those good bands then, they’re still available, unlike your youth

Dean you need to listen to their album heretic. Super underrated imo. Riffing is amazing. Lots going on.
Yooooo I want that shirt, Dean!
Thank god for your wife, probably halting Archspire's inevitable transition to deathcore with these quality DM riffs.
bruh what's wrong with deathcore 😟

@@harrytalbot1507 there's nothing wrong with deathcore. I actually consider archspire to be more Technical deathcore than tech death metal. For me it has to do with how they arrange their chord progressions and structures.
@@spectre722 archspire is also very djenty at times too. Dean is a pretty big admirer of Tosin and his BBG.🍆🎸
Great band, great couple !
Gateways is my favorite MA album, too. And Trey's riffs just don't make sense. However, I think that Erik Rutan made this album shine with his contributions. Pete's kicks in the opening of the gates are stupid fast.
Rumor has it Pete was kinda pissed off when Trey brought him the pre-prod drum machine version. "fucker, that's too fast bro!"
Sentence, zoom in, sentence, zoom out, repeat. That Dean editing.
Formula’s Fatal to the Flesh is there most technical album and my favorite. Pete also really went off on that album. 2nd favorite is Covenant. All there albums are very good though.
Dude that's fucking awesome sauce, keep shredding \m/
That feeling when you tell someone to wait for the sick part. Then they look at you like your an idiot... Ah don't ever change guys.
I agree with dean's opinion of morbid angel 100%
you both look great in this one. must be sleepin good these days 🙏
Do 4 Levels of Martyr next! Bonus points if you can actually get Dan Mongrain on it
Start listening to Altars of Madness everyday Dean. Screw production. Turn it up!
He will fall in epilepsy.Did you see how his mind colapse by the second riff?Haha
Both the banter and the editing had me bursting out more than a few times! Great work, Dean!
I love this bells!
4 levels of Opeth would be sick. Great content btw!
Agreed!
And 4 levels of Gorguts!
Hell yeah
Gateways is such a goddamn masterpiece of an album. I can never skip a track.
Gateways is amazing probably my fave MA album.
Love you both
Dean...not fussed by bells 🔔 🤣
pretty cool. needs more Altars of Madness tracks though. :)
That jersey dean wearing thou 🔥
Try maze of torment. The solos are in another level.
Nice to see someone else with the CORRECT opinion that “Gateways” is the best Morbid Angel record.
Well, it IS ........in the Mandela universe where Covenant doesn't exist.
Except it's not
In my opinion, it’s altars of madness, David Vincent sounds like a straight up demon, Trey’s solos are fucking wicked and chaotic, a lot of the riffs on that album also sound very black metal like (visions from the dark side and immortal rites) it’s fast and aggressive(lord of all fevers and plague), maybe it’s because I’m more into thrash metal, that’s why altars of madness is my fav morbid angel album.
Formulas is better imho
*Altars of Madness has entered the chat*
Clicked on this hoping for Morbid Angel, and it hasn’t even started yet and the comments affirmed it. So hap
The Thing that Should Not Be with harsh vocals I can definitely see being in the realm of Morbid Angel
I have the same shirt as Claire and that makes me feel pretty cool
I must congratulate you guys for the bidé. The most underrated WC fixture ever. The levels of hygiene and comfort provided are criminally underrated.
I was just listening to the domination album the other day cause I have not listened to it in a while. I have the hoodie I bought if ear ache records online for like $35. Where the slime live 🤌 should have made dean play domination. For level 4 where the slime live is my favorite track. Toney Lorenzo showed me this album and that first track back in the day ❤️
You guys are great
I love Domination. Every album needs more slime and bells!
