    I replaced the upper engine wiring harness on a 1994 E320. This corrected most of the wiring issues. The wire to the starter also was replaced because the insulation flaked off and caused a short. After installing a set of remanufactured fuel injectors the engine ran like it was a new vehicle. -- until a truck hit it. It was a nice car.

    Replace the entire upper engine wire harness. The biodegradable insulation degrades overtime and will lead to shorting even where you cannot see. Replacement harnesses are made with non biodegradable insulation.

    Victor thank you for the video I finally found out what was wrong with my w124 after even mercedes could not work it out!!! mine had the same problem with the wiring on the throttle body.... to say it nicely the wiring was toast end to end... just waiting on a replacement and the rest of my engine harness is fine iv gone over the whole harness....only wiring that was cactus was the throttle body

    Unfortunately this is a bad problem of the Mercedes C. Class as well as some other models. The engin wire loom goes bad after about 200.000 km and cause some terrible problems when the wire isolation goes brittle. Don't waist your time in fixing the loom, just pull it out and replace it. I made up my one loom on my c180 m111, 1995 model. Get the right density wire, tools, etc and take video and pics before your start pulling the old wires out. My baby is running like a new merc ever since I replaced my loom.

    Hey man! I got the same problem here on a E320 1993 Thanks for the video and your page :) And some other problems with the automatic transmission :/

    if the cables look like this (like they did on my C124 320) it's definately better to change the whole cable harness. the isolation is like you said, that bad that i was asking myself how the engine could run properly anymore. so i changed all the cables of the cable harness for engine control. i will upload a video how my new cable harness looks and also which cables i used. i also want to say something about opening the plugs. today it will be finished, i'm excited ^^

    great explaination, I had wiring prob in the 220e 1993 w124 car was running rough spend days looking for the rough idle and replaced a bunch of part that didnt need replacing , then I wiggle a few wires and found the rough idle is old wiring and the culprit was the wiring connector above one of the injectors, go over a bump and it could play up again, take loom off clean up wires and do all the connections yourslef can save you hundreds of dollars, its not a big job!

    GREEN COOLANT! Get that out! Flush it and fill with piss yellow Zerex G-05 or MB coolant (same thing). Green has the wrong chemistry to protect the engine. Green is traditional silicate/phosphate, whereas the G-05 is a HOAT with no phosphates and only a small amount if silicate for quick protection. Neglected cooling systems filled with green will suffer corrosion and head gasket failure. Just switch.

      Great information. Is the yellow antifreeze that you mentioned used in the 1995 SL320? My SL320 has the green in it as well .

    Awesome video , I have a 96 S320 and idles great but if I accelerate to 3 RPM or grater, ( in park ) the engine RPM start pulsing up and down + of - 0.5 RMS
    No limp mode so far. I originally stopped using the car because it was stuck in limp mode 3 years ago an decided give it another try to fix it. I drove around the block and works pretty good, but scared to get on the HWY.. Wondering if this is another symptom of the throttle body problem or wire insulation problem. have an awesome day!!!!!

    Victor, my 96 C220 M111 behaves like this. I replaced the engine harness months ago because I had the head gasket replaced but the idle problem is still there. Although I do not get CEL anymore. The has 330k miles. I'm thinking the throttle body is wornout like your other video showed.... or could it be the wiring from the harness to the throttle body that is bad? Thanks for your help.

      @patrick9761 Před 7 lety

      start by wiggling the wires above the injectors before you spend any money, if engine idle changes at all then you need to re wire, 9 out of 10 it is your OVP relay a good electrical guy will clean and retin (solder) it for you plus check the blade fuse on top or the relay, very simple or pay upto $200 for a new one. relay is behind the battery
