Thanks for the live stream yesterday Denys.I sub a good number of other You Tube channels but you were the only one that was live during the attack.
I think Iran and the US might have had a deal where Iran could make a response that would fall within established parameters and the US would then make sure there was no escalation by Israel. They did inform the US of the attack ahead of time through Türkiye apparently, which lends some credence to this idea.
What if it was planned to fail and they also allowed by agreement for that Airforce base to be hit so they can justify a win and that they did a big adequate response to Israel attack on their embassy. In the past it happened where they had an agreement between each other just to save face for their people.

Iran's attack was intentionally limited with prior warning given. They specifically did not want a high casualty incident because they don't actually want an escalation, just face-saving.
If no further escalation was their goal, they shouldn’t have also taken hostage a ship in the strait of Hormuz, because anything endangering the international trade routes is a definitive escalation and pulls in the global players. They should have kept it to rockets and drones, like this they force the US to act.

I hope that Ukraine's government will someday recognize Denys Davydov for his contribution to Ukraine. This guy is the reason that many of us foreigners were able to follow the war so closely, especially in the early days. I commend Danys for his diligence and hard work. I told my wife he is a one man news station.

Those "spikes" are called caltrops. Used since Roman/Greek times and just as effective now for light tires, hooves and feet in the dark. Hanibal had trouble with his elephants because of very similar items.

It's interesting that the Russians don't even bother painting these golf carts in less obvious colours. They seem to be sand coloured - and stand out like a sore thumb making targeting much easier.
The drone camera producer might well be in the same industrial zone as the golf cart manufacturer.

I think Iran well knew the attack would be unsuccessfull. Leaders there felt they needed to respond to Israel's provication to save face.

@@External2737 Gonna' kind of be useless if they are all learning to speak Russian by that time. They can increase to 10%, right now, and it takes time for that to have an effect. The US could easily send stockpiles slated for decommission of Cluster Shells and artillery shells right now. But 25 members of the House of Representatives, who will likely be standing trial in the future for their roll in an attempted coup, are making decisions to delay in order to get someone with Pardon powers in the White House to save their Bacon. That would only allow them to get away with actual crimes they committed. Even if they did it through the rules of Congress they currently hold.

As mentioned by others....the news is that the attck on the Russian Comand post was a factory for weapon parts....that had just come online for production. It nay also have been a Command post aswell....If it was then it is a "Twofer!!!"
The Representatives need to sign "Discharge Petition No. 9" which will force a vote on the bill regarding Aid to Ukraine, Taiwan and Israel. They need 216 signatures and so far have 190+, so this could be the likely path to getting aid to Ukraine.
It is 195 and as of the time of this post, not a single GOP representative has signed. Further, they will risk Trump primarying them if they do anything to help the Ukraine against Putin. This position could have softened if the Israelis were hurt badly by Iran, but this appears not to be the case.
A quick scan of the names and I see AOC did not sign it? She is not worried about orangutan...so why not?

Some progressives disagree with the provision to support Israel and do not agree with Netanyahuu's killing of thousands of Palestinian civilians which is arguably genocide. I personally agree with them, but support the Senate version because Biden has the discretion to not commit the funding unless Netanyahuu conforms to internationally recognized human rights of the palestinians.

Agree with you on Budapest Memorandum. Our shame.
It was signed by a Democrat President Clinton. When Ukraine appealed for aid in 2014, it was a Democrat President Obama who sent you blankets. It was a Republican MAGA President who sent the Paladin (atgm). And it is a Democrat President Biden who supports both sides in both the Ukraine and Israel wars. Notice a trend in the type of support.
Regarding the training of F-16 Pilots. While it is frustrating how long it takes, it's imperative that they fully understand how the aircraft works in as many situations as possible. Having them do the full training course rather than the 'war-time course' means they will be more effective and less likely to be shot down.
Theere is the matter of training the supporting ground staff and infrastructures as well - these aircraft need substantial amounts of ground services.
during ww2 Allies could build aircraft faster than trained pilots. Ukraine has neither.
@@deehaytch8442 WWII was 80 years ago and has no relevence in reference to modern aircraft training. It's like comparing a grenade to a nuke because they both explode.
@@eLIPHAS3333 point is Ukraine has few pilots and no aircraft. US/UK during WW2 could build aircraft faster than train pilots. So much so the training was pretty much condensed into a few weeks.
Problem is Russia can out build and out train Ukraine and the majority of NATO.
eg..France produces 3000 artillery shells a month (1/2 are sent to Ukraine) ... Russia are now knocking out 250,000 a month !!!
I have been told the use paradigm for Russian and Western fighter jets is also different. Western pilots have more autonomy and the planes reflect that by providing them the necessary information for making decisions. If they are not flown like that, their main advantage of enabling the pilot is lost and you are left with the airframe, which in itself likely doesn't provide any significant advantage over Russian airframes. So, hopefully the training also focuses on that mental shift, also for the command structure around the pilots.

Honestly Iran's timing is likely to promote the coalition against Russia. It will be quite difficult for US politicians to remain soft on national defense with Iran following on the heels of Putin.
I think many people missed that WW3 likely started in 2014, and is the process of escalating.
WW2 could have been stopped several times, most notably in 1938. But the people making key decisions didn't think that the situation would escalate to be a planet-spanning war.

The Budapest Memorandum is absolutely an "official" document, it is part of the UN Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty and the agreement plainly states that signing it amounted to Ukraine's accession to the Nonproliferation Treaty. Clearly Ukraine considered it binding, turning over those ~2300 tactical nuclear weapons to Russia. People who say "well, the US Senate never ratified it as a treaty" miss the whole point. The US abides by a number of agreements that the Senate has never ratified, the most glaring example being the UNCLOS (UN Commission on Law of the Sea).
There are not as many Patriot PAC-3 batteries as are being reported - most of those are PAC-2 or GEM upgrades. However, these are quite effective against aircraft, just not so effective against Iskanders.

The US Army has 49 or 50 in storage but US Army commanders are bottle babies & can't get their nut up.
I'm reasonably sure that there are not 100 Patriot batteries in the entirety of Europe, but if there are I'd bet... 10 of them belong to the US Army?? so they're maaaybe not actually European, so to speak.
Europe does not have 100 active Patriot batteries defending it. If it has 100, ~10% of those are being deployed by the US Army so I wouldn't exactly call them European, per se.

Thanks Denys. Perhaps a better comparison for the impact of drones is with aircraft in the First World War, rather than tanks. In 1914, aircraft did reconnaisance and pilots saluted each other or used pistols and rifles. By 1917, there were thousands of aircraft, which did multiple tasks including strategic bombing, interdiction and ground support. The battlefield was more visible than ever before.

@@zipfelklatscher1685 ATACMS, Himars and Taurus missiles all fulfill different roles. There's nothing political about that. Ukraine was frankly lucky to get ATACMS as a result of Republican delay tactics. The US would have provided only older Himars if they were certain they could continue funding. Similar circumstances could lead to the decision to release Taurus, it's just not likely any time soon.
Russia knocked out Ukraine power plants precisely because they were afraid of Ukraine military production. F16s are looking more like a mirage every day. (Not to be confused with French mirages, which are real fighter jets). UK and France could have directly provided air cover as soon as US withdrew financial support to Ukraine, but they only do what US corporations say. Europe needs to detach itself from US control, because the US is not acting in our interest.
