- This piece is one out of a series of pieces profiling luxurious homes in North Carolina. While most of the pieces were with an "MTV Cribs" influence, profiling a regal estate such as the Vanderbilt Mansion in Asheville, NC required a more stately approach. I hope you like it.
While the house may seem big, keep in mind there were many more than just three people living there. The maids, the cooks, the butlers, the grounds keepers, the chuffers, and so on. Not to mention guests that stayed also brought their own servants as well. The entire estate was designed to be a working residence, thus it's more akin to a hotel than a house.
I loved the tour of the Biltmore Estates and the classical music.
I luv the Biltmore I am from Augusta GA and have visited it at 12 times in my life, always beautiful , always an event going on , always feels like coming home.
The place was beautiful when I visited. Loved the pool that was under the house. Their is a chess set that was Napoleon Bonaparte, that was purchased.
Beautiful...
It's on my "dumpster" list, as
I have too many "buckets"! 🤣
A family of three. Unbelievably astonishing!
Well done . The background music is just perfect to set off the video !
I visited back in 1996, and if you let your imagination take over, you can visualize living at Biltmore. Truly a magnificent estate. And to think only three people lived there, not including servants.
Swimming pool looks like an abandoned subway station
That what ,a real home look like 👍magnificent.
i know, i kept expecting to see a velociraptor. spared no expense!
Ha, same here.
Amazing! There's a lot more family history in the book "Fortune's Children: The Fall of the House of Vanderbilt"
I went there in the summer, the views breathtaking. But the pool was sooo creepy!
I can’t wait to visit in the fall or winter. I heard there isn’t any air conditioning
indoor pool looks like a death trap
This just blows my mind. Whitemarsh hall aswell. Not many could build palaces like these today.
Unbelievable wealth! Home for 3?
All those fireplaces & the house is still standing. Maybe the central heating helped. Good your.
lol could u imagine having to pee really badly and have to walk 3 miles to the nearest restroom!
I didnt know Biltmore was built by the Vanderbilts. Is Anderson Cooper involved in any way with the running of this magnificant estate?
No. Different wing of their family. His wing of the family became completely broke.
Great video.
I see the chains or ropes are in the pool to hold the children. Evil!
And I was younger like a member many many times going to The Abbey to eat in Atlanta Georgia this why I live pretty much my young life it was originally I think on West Peachtree but they moved it it was an old church and the latest were like they look like monks I look like a monastery the way this were dressed in their Monastery monk outfits the rest of us the menu was on Scrolls ever yeah the food was spectacular The Abbey is still there as a matter of fact but they relocated it somewhere else in Atlanta and I'm not quite sure but yeah I remember those days very much.
WOW !!!
I wonder if any of the Royals are the queen have been lucky enough to visit the Biltmore in North Carolina just curious.
Who's the reporter?!
wth why is it u cannot see the interiors of any of these mansions,,, its good publicity & curiousity makes one want to see it
You can now take pictures when you tour but no flash photography. It used to be not allowed. I have many pics of the interior.
If you're ever in the area its well worth the expense to see it.
If he met Warren Buffet in time, he wouldn't build it. Buffet is obviously happier, knowing that he sleeps 8 hours a day.
I like this building, but with this music I expect to see dinosaurs. :)
Can you bring your own food and have a picnic there
Allybella no
We did, you just have to walk out into the woods 😀
fucking Jurassic park!!!!!
They died just like poor people
a humongous house for just three family members and 100+ servants??? Is that really what you call home? hm....I rather have a smaller house....it will definitely be creepy at night...
Jyanne Skye Id probably go broke hiring extra security guards at night. Id be so paranoid. How do people acquire such wealth. Thats not a house.
Remember this was built during the gilted age 100 plus years ago. A whole different lifestyle. Once Cornelia left she never returned. Her ex husband saved the estate from falling into ruin. Its privately owned by the Cecil family, great grandson of George.
If I remember from a tour this was a "cheap" version compared to other Vanderbilt homes. George didn't inherit as much as other family members since his job was to take care of his mother.
I would love to see The Breakers one day, that was a Vanderbilt home but no longer in the family.
👍 nice
