Chester: SHUT UP WHEN IM TALKING TO YOU
Spotify: This isn’t Metal
Elitists: *Some form of poser and gatekeeping*
@Atoms Well I think Chester screams often enough to say they at least incorporate metal elements. They’re not the heaviest of metal bands but I consider them nu metal which sometimes isn’t super heavy.
@Atoms Yeah honestly sub genres get so complicated sometimes that everyone’s got their own opinions on what does and doesn’t fit into a particular sub genre.
There more of a rap rock hard rock group with elements of metal. Not full, but osc, Apfmh, and papercut is just full metal. Or meteora
I thought lp was nu metal

People are allowed to like other genres, crazy huh
Linkin Park and Killswitch Engage were the GOATS of each of their genres.
Hell yeah especially linkin park we miss you chester

They're definitely a dope band!

Ill Nino slaps so hard. One of my favorites for sure
"How Can I Live" by Ill Nino was on the Freddy vs Jason soundtrack. That soundtrack along with Queen of the Damned introduced to so many amazing artists. The Freddy vs Jason soundtrack had Killswitch Engage's "When Darkness Falls" (a slightly different version from The End of Heartache version) which was Howard's first song with the band. That song made me fall in love with KsE
As far as movie soundtracks go, Freddy vs Jason was awesome as hell.

This is a good playlist in general, but I'm surprised that there is only one Rammstein song (and objectively not the song you will imagine if you think of Rammstein). I mean, this band was among the creators of industrial metal, and their most popular album (Mutter) came out in 2001. I'm kinda disappointed that they forgot about Sonne (this song absolutely slaps), Ich Will, Links 2,3,4 or Mein Herz Brennt

Asator has such a cool solo, war of the Gods is just Banking and Guardians of asgaard is just freaking pretty
@Dragon Ball fans can't read Where are they laughably generic? They‘re one of the genre defining Death/ Viking Metal bands and have great songwriting. I can really appreciate them even if I don‘t listen to them

Deceiver of the gods, Blood eagle, Live for the kill, War of the gods, Free will sacrifice. So many guitar bangers I couldn't list them all.
Linkin Park definitely should have made it on there. It's because of Linkin Park that I'm into metal today, and I think it's the same for a lot of of other people.

I'm far more into NuMetal but when I started listening to Killswitch last year, I was mad at myself for sleeping on them for so long. Definitely opened the doors to metalcore for me.
You should check out the two singers’ other bands. Blood Has Been Shed is super raw and The Empire Shall Fall is pretty fucking dope
You might like Alice in Chains, Pantera, and Jinjer if you like Killswitch Engage. 🤟

Also Dry Kill Logic is in this list of bands of 2000s
I never listened to Ill Nino or Amon Amarth growing up, but those bands still sound great and fresh almost 20 years later
Ill Niño is an amazing ass band, very underrated.
Best 2000s.... and 2010s metal songs in my opinion:
1. Grotesque Impalement - DYING FETUS
2. Sounds of A Playground Fading - IN FLAMES
3. Carrion - PARKWAY DRIVE
4. DUALITY - SLIPKNOT
5. All These Things I hate - BFMV
6. Scourge of Iron - Cannibal Corpse
7. Laid to Rest - Lamb of God
8. Flattening of Emotions - Death
9. SNUFF - SLIPKNOT (BALLAD)
10. So Far Away - A7X (BALLAD)
Older parkway for me, killing with a smile is an amazing album
As someone who was in my late teens/early 20's in the 2000's, Slipknot basically owned 1999-2004. I mean, how many people got into even heavier stuff because of the album Iowa? Every metal band nowadays is influenced in some way by them.
This was just a long way of me saying I understand why there's a ton of Slipknot on the list. Lol.

The 2000s metal playlist is basically just nu metal and friends
Nick Hipa said it himself in the chat @2:44, Soilwork's "The Chainheart Machine" is definitely one of those Swedish metal albums that influenced a lot of 2000's metalcore bands, yet I don't hear many people talk about them even to this day. Matt Heafy (Trivium) even said that Soilwork is a big influence on him. To me they're one of the most underrated bands in metal, they have always been super unique, from the guitar playing, the songwriting, and Bjorn Strid's incredible singing and harsh vocals. Even their most accessible songs are unique to a degree. Devin Townsend even co-produced Soilwork's 4th album "Natural Born Chaos".
I love Soilwork so much
RIP Oli Herbert. Every single track was a massive riff lesson.
I made a big early 00's playlist and loved making it. It hurts me to see so many good bands miss out on this list. Not having any songs from Ascendancy by Trivium is shocking!!!

When I feel like being nostalgic about 2000s Metal, I put on some of Drakedog's old PvP videos from Classic WoW (and TBC). Dude had some great taste and even introduced me to Prog.
I’m 50 and the 80’s and 90’s were great for music. During those years I don’t think I ever took my headphones out or didn’t have a record playing (I was very late to the internets & cd’s) . Not to say there is some amazing stuff now
I suppose Linkin Park is considering "rock" on Spotify because a lot of their material after Meteora was more on the rock side of things. I suppose they could've included a track like Papercut or Hit the Floor from one of those albums, as both those songs are kinda heavy. But they can't include something popular like In the End or Numb since those tracks are way more rock than alt metal.
However, if The Hunting Party was released in the 2000s, they would have a lot of stuff to pick from that album.
SOAD, BMFV, and Linkin Park got robbed.
I remember early youtube when you couldn't have gone 3 videos without linkin park or SOAD popping up somewhere, and everyone was jamming to BMFV even if there weren't montage songs.
Not saying Chop Suey isn't a great song, but i've literally listened to BYOB so many times, and even more friggen Avenged Sevenfold! This was around the time that Bat Country came out and you couldn't even go 5 seconds without listening to it on metal stations!
@@DrCranberry The thing is if you go back to the 00s nobody at the time ever considered Linkin Park of BMFV as metal bands hell I didn't even consider SOAD as one either at the time. I still don't consider Linkin Park as metal.
Ill Nino is lowkey fire. The blend of their drums with the Spanish percussion is amazing. They have some truly heavy, killer and bouncy riffs with catchy choruses.
