- Elvis fan since 1973, I want to share some of my collection. Here are the first UK releases with an explanation as to why they were not on the RCA label.
This is my first attempt at making a video.
Hello my friend I've started watching all your videos again from the beginning ❤
Daniel thanks ❤.

What an amazing collection thank you for taking the time to show us
Never knew about HMV LABEL , thankyou for explaining. I'm 58 years old been buying ELVIS music since I was 10 years old ( 1973 ) here in the states, and never heard of them so thank you. I guess it's true old dogs can learn new tricks lol.
That is the great thing about sharing collections, we all have something that someone else has never seen. I have learnt a lot about Elvis’ Japanese releases. TCB
Great collection my friend, I cant believe I missed out on these early HMV releases at the time, I only started collecting the Elvis RCA releases in Mar 1960! (Too late now at my age! LOL) cheers!
Thanks Mal, it is never too late....
You have an awesome collection!!!!!!!

Wow...extremely impressive collection of music...can’t wait to see more 🤯👍✌️
Thanks Ed, great to share with people who appreciate it.
Blue Suede Shoes was released on single in the UK on HMV before the RCA release
Didnt Elvis re-record some Sun tracks at RCA in the US ?
Beautiful collection. Totally cool
Elvis homme le plus photographie au monde à Hollywood les accteur ce cacher parseque Elvis les détrôner tous c étais le plus beau de tous les acteur et chanteur
My mum always joked with the HMV Love Me Tender ep that she bought and gave to me when I was young she said I don't know why they took a photo of Elvis tripping over on the front
Very nice video. Im a 36 year old dad and elvis fan from Pennsylvania usa. Keep it up sir. I was looking up the first hmv lp of elvis on ebay and i put it in CZcams and your videos showed up. I like how elvis's first lps in England were smaller size. I owned it years ago but it was in bad shape so i traded it . Im finally looking for another copy of it. Thank you. You have a very calm and thoughtful voice. Im not trying to be silly but you sound like you would do narration for a winnie the pooh feature. Very proper. ;) thank you once again for the upload. Roger
Roger, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I got my copy on ebay for £350, which was a good price. Keep checking ebay, also recommend the Elvis Shop London, great range at good prices.
Elvis' first UK LPs were not "smaller size". They were 12". Only the 3rd & 4th were 10".
Looks like you're HMV releases are in better condition than mine
Damn Steve, you have a helluva collection! I think I under-sold ya the My Boy Insert! ;) I'll be looking fwd to seeing your My Boy collection CZcams vid With the Insert! ;) You may be displaying your 50's rarities, but you're surrounded by 70's Elvis... this Kat's fav decade as well!! Aloha got you started.. '68 Comeback for me.. The NYC Polk Salad Rocker!
Thanks Dave, working part of the My Boy collection now. More to come.
Thanks to your video, I just discovered that my faithful reproductions of the "red/dancers" 78 rpm HMV sleeves are not the right ones before "All Shuck Up". I can live with that but it's a bummer haha! Beautiful _(part of your collection),_ thank you for sharing. "ELVIS n°2 - HMV" is such a beauty! To find a copy in perfect condition, I turned to "the cheaper" first RCA UK edition, which I am very happy with... but the "original UK" cover is still my favorite _(with the HMV labels of course)._
Thanks for your comment. I see the 78s being offered on ebay almost always with the dancers sleeves. I do have a spare sleeve, if you want it, email me your address. No. 2 is my favourite cover, the RCA covers were often quite boring.
@@markfrommanchester8204 Too expensive! I could not bring myself to spend the money when I had the chance
That's great
Can you imagine, Elvis on EMI Records if his exports stayed with HMV? This was the same label that The Beatles got signed in to EMI's Parlophone after being rejected from Decca.
❤❤
Strictly not the same label. EMI Owned a number of companies (which mainly for tax purposes remained separate until the mid 1970s). The Parlophone Company Limited, The Columbia Graphophone Company Ltd (mostly had Columbia and Regal Zonophone as labels, Electrical and Musical Instruments Limited / EMI Records Limited (main label was the licence to produce MGM discs from the US originals) , The Gramophone Company Limited ( t/a His Master's Voice - Which had nipper as its trade mark in the UK and parts of Europe and India)
Hi from the UK my friend, what a great collection of early Elvis, thanks for sharing and I look forwards to more video's, take care!
Thanks Mal, I am Gloucestershire area.
@@tcbsince73 Hi again, I’m a 76 year young scouser now living in Lincolnshire...nice to meet you sir!
This is good

La sua voce scavalchera anche questo millennio .
Any idea why HMV had their own designs for the 2nd LP sleeve & the Love Me Tender EP, rather than just following the US originals?
More interesting for the collector, of course!
& why was the US Loving You album split into a 10-inch LP + an EP when the preceding 2 studio albums had remained on 12-inch?
Maybe there's a website or book you'd recommend for such info?
Thanks!
Quite interesting. Releases way behind USA.
Rock N Roll Number One, is a better album than the US LPM-1254 LP.
Before the RCA release in the USA even
Love the collection. Just wondering where did u get the poster that’s on the door in the background would love to get one
Tom, thanks for the comment. I got the poster printed as I loved the picture. If you email me I will send you the image then you can get an online printer to do it for you. tcbsince73@gmx.co.uk
Really nice records. It must have been hard to find them all with the company sleeves. Have you got the FTD book, The Best of British?
Thanks! Watching your videos was my inspiration. Don't have the FTD book but I do have Alan White's Elvis HMV discography. I would buy other cheap discs if they had an original sleeve that I needed.
@@tcbsince73 Wow. I'm flattered my videos inspired you to do yours. I wish you every success with the channel. I'm looking forward to your "how many copies" video. I had the same idea myself as I have multiple copies of Elvis' Golden Records.
You should start your own ACMR channel
Thanks Mrs Yeti ;o)
Amazing collection. Do you ever find the time to play them all
I don't have a record player at the moment..
you missed out :Tryin' To Get To You/Lawdy, Miss Clawdy on HMV : POP 408
Wow! I didn’t notice, I put the edit in the wrong place and cut it out. Thanks!
Minor quibble: while showing the Loving You LP you state that, as it was RCA but not Victor, it didn't use the Nipper logo.
Surely that's irrelevant?
When Decca later began using the Victor brand in the UK (1963?) they still couldn't use Nipper because here it's always been the copyright property of EMI/HMV records (+ HMV record stores), His Master's Voice of course being the title of the 1898 Francis Barraud painting in which Nipper appears.
Hence the necessity in 1965 for the Tickle Me still for the UK sleeve of Elvis For Everyone
It is confusing. My understanding is that the Victor company acquired the right to use the Nipper logo in the US. I made a connection as to why it wasn’t on the U.K. album, but probably in error.
@@tcbsince73 In 1901, Victor (RCA Victor since 1929) acquired the American rights to the Nipper/His Master's Voice trademark. In the UK, the Gramophone Co. Ltd. (EMI since 1931) held the rights for most of the rest of the world. The two companies distributed each others records in their respective countries until 1955 when EMI ended the arrangement with RCA Victor after EMI purchased Capitol Records in the US; In 1957, Capitol became distributor for EMI recordings in North America. RCA Victor signed a UK distribution deal with Decca, which released RCA Victor recordings in the UK on the RCA and RCA Victor labels. RCA Victor couldn't use the Nipper trademark in the UK and the rest of Europe because EMI/HMV owned the rights there.
7What about the UK Pressed "export" 45 discs. These had different couplings to the 7M Series of His Master's Voice singles ?
I didn’t think to include them, probably because I didn’t have any examples
Im trying to find his original 1956 first issue 45's. I heard that there are certain things to look for on the vinyl label, such as the color of the lettering and other things that will confirm that it is the true original.
Can you help to tell me what to look for, so that i don't buy a fake cover and vinyl?
Thanks.
Your best first purchase would be the book Elvis Presley HMV Worldwide Discography by Alan White, it was available on ebay. It details the labels and sleeves, etc.
They do vary, but the HMV ones at the time had smooth edges to the labels, with the "gripper" rings coming a bit later , most will have "gold" lettering , but some only had silver. "Jigsaw" centres wont be first presses. I have acquired some good ones ex neighbours collection but am negiotating with another person to sell, but Discogs does have some listed in varing condition. Most pressings will have the cream HMV sleeve with red lettering but again this can vary.
I am not sure your HMV/Columbia agreement is quite correct (it is slightly more complex)
Some song on side 2 where released by sun in United States
SUN wasn’t operating in the U.K., when RCA bought Elvis’ contract they released his first few singles in the U.K. on the HMV label. RCA also re-released the 5 SUN singles on the RCA label in the US, as SUN was a local label and not distributed throughout America. I might show these in a video.
