Atlas did a great job on that engine and passenger cars. I have the Amtrak E8 in the phase one paint scheme along with the matching passenger cars on order from Atlas. So looking forward to when those arrive. Thanks RJ for showing off this train for us!
Well done video, RJ. My son ryan also loves amtrank and cnj. We posted a video on amtrack passenger cars behind a p42 diesel. They unexpectedly had orange glow lighting, really special. Gary
Nice engine and a great video. I have the MTH model which I bought a few years ago when I thought MTH was no longer going to be in the train business. It’s one of my favorite engines in my collection!
Silly question - do the sound sets on these models capture the “whoop” sound of the air compressor on these GE’s? I’ve spent many nights behind them in the sleepers and would feel something is missing without that sound!
I have the Lionel 203 Operation LifeSaver Genesis, and the Lionel 46, 30 Anniversary Genesis & Atlas P42 108 Genesis. Why is The Atlas Genesis much bigger than the Lionel Genesis?
The Atlas one is built to true 1/48 O Scale proportions. The Lionel one is called “semi-scale” and built to non exact proportions to fit on smaller layouts
They have the same sounds… and as someone who is around P42s often, neither the MTH or Atlas sound files sound anything like what the actual ones sound like
@@rj.trains I have the heritage Phase II P42 66. The horn is way more accurate and can tell it was actually recorded from a real P42. The one you have uses the same horn sound file from the Proto 3 AEM-7 and has an e-bell.
The custom billboard goes hard

That Phase I E8 was really tempting, stuck to my guns and did not order. I will probably regret that but oh well
The Atlas P42 is a very impressive looking model, RJ. Nice to see them on the rails. The P42 from Atlas is a real eye catcher.
Rogar, very much agree, special engines. We bought the black and yellow p42, video in process now. Gary
Thank you!
Great now theres something else i want 😂
They do look awesome , great video
Haha that is the worst part of watching these videos. Thanks for watching!

Thank you! I just subscribed to you guys!
love your video, keep making more with Amtrak
Those engines are amazing, I really wish I had pre ordered one when they came out
Well you should still be able to grab one from dealers
Ian, try mr. Muffin trains, he has a few, along with the cars. Gary
I'm more a fan of the old school F40PH's and phase 2 & 3 but those are very nice!
Well be on the lookout for a video on an F40 soon
Very nice
Thank you!
Nice engine and a great video. I have the MTH model which I bought a few years ago when I thought MTH was no longer going to be in the train business. It’s one of my favorite engines in my collection!
Yea, great marketing ploy by MTH to get us to buy all of their trains and then sell off toolings and make trains themselves again. LOL
Those are beautiful. Love the midnight blue. I ended up preordering a few of the 3rd Rail for the fixed pilots but these were sure tempting.
We bought the beautiful yellow and black p42 see track, think trains, really special. Your 3rd rail should be a special treat, you're fortunate. Gary
The 3rd ones are going to look amazing. I already have three ALC42s reserved, as well as Viewliners and Superliners so opted for the Atlas P42s
I’m going to get 100 quite soon in O scale as well same everything as you.
They are great engines!
Awesome Amtrak Locomotives!! I ordered the same P42 #100 in Midnight Blue with the matching passenger cars!
Thanks! And great choice!
Nice engines!
Thank you!
One of those P42 better be pulling the Crescent RJ ole Southern man like yourself 😁
Don’t worry they are! Hopefully GGD will do another run of viewliners so I’ll have a true crescent
Nice amtrak engine and passenger cars 😊
Thank you very much!

Nice engines RJ. Think you’ll ever get something from ROW?
Never say never but cannot say I am a fan of any of their products.
Thanks RJ
Thanks for watching!
Hello hear a question in your polar express video
Do the 5 wagons of the polar express come or only the first 3 that were seen in the box?
Only the first three that were in the box, the other two were bought separately.
@@rj.trains ok thank you very much
Thanks!
