One of my favorites from 1982. Heavy rotation on a MTV-wannabe show called "MV3." It was a music video show for those of us that didn't yet have MTV in our market.
I grew up in the bay area and I remember MV3 and Richard Blade! Everyday I rushed home to watch the latest new wave videos from mostly England. I was about 12-15 yrs old at the time!
Annabella was extremely cute, and she could definitely sing. Why this group, or her solo never materialized will be a question for the ages. But loved this early 80's sound.
After Malcolm McLaren screwed her over she was NEVER able to recover from that. I mean soon after the success of Do You Want To Hold Me, she was fired from the band.
They were always a “put together” band, by a producer. Those bands never stay together because they’re put together to make money. It’s not like they all grew up together and wrote these songs in their bedroom. Adam Ant’s band was lured away from Adam and they found a 13yr old girl who could sing and dress provocative. They photographed her naked for the album covers. And by the time she was 17, she was kicked out of the band without them actually telling her to her face.

This song Bubbled Under the Billboard Hot 100 in 1982 or 1983. Should’ve been a hit here in the States.
No. 103 on the Bubbling Under the Hot 100 Charts to be exact. I had to check first.
It was, sort of... They played it all the time on the radio and the video on MTV.

I had fantasies of bursting through the wall on my friend's moped and capturing my 8th grade crush, Stephanie. MTv was magic.
