Some people are too fragile about talking about race. I think that might be why the audience was so quiet. I personally think she was hilarious but at the same time she eloquently explained some serious issues within the beauty community. I'm so in love with her channel and this video.

I loved this video. And to those who question why she doesn't include many other black female CZcamsrs in her speech, its because she didn't want to seem exclusionary. She wants to show people that she doesn't just care about black women, but ANYbody who is a part of a marginalized community. Intersectionality people ! That's how you get em to listen! :)

I was interested in the lack of applause when she made her first " challenging" comment about her walking to a beauty counter. The silence basically said we don't care and we won't change. Jackie continued to push and challenge with grace, respectability and dignity. Unlike other successful black beauty you tubers, she hasn't sold out and she always represents. Lots of love from the UK
Sussex Sandra apparently, from what I'm seeing in the comments, we are used to speeches like these having crowd mics, but at this particular presentation the crowd was not miked, just her. I think I heard some distant laughter through her mic!
I got emotional when she started talking about inner beauty. Jackie Aina is indeed changing how the world looks at different individuals but also how we see and portray ourselves to the world. Love and accept the way you are because you are a unique human being and God made you that way. You are beautiful.

My hat goes off to you Jackie and CZcams. This is a major milestone and marker in the world of beauty for women of color. The acknowledgment of being a leading influencer with over 1 million subscribers challenging brands to be more inclusive from the products they sell to the images they display, is one to be recognized for in room full of people twice the capacity of this one. Why not include shades of makeup in a darker range? Why not include a woman of color in a beauty campaign? Why not have items to test in darker shades? Why not have someone that can properly match foundation for a woman of color? Why not have products properly formulated in darker shades? These questions would not be posed if it were not an issue. I applaud you, Jackie, for using your platform to not only do what you enjoy, but "champion gender equality and women empowerment, and trying to make the world a better place." We ALL deserve to be seen.

I watch all yur videos regardless of the fact that we are not the same skin color or even skin type because you're hilarious, knowledgeable, gracious, beautiful and most importantly because yu are never afraid to speak for women of color and stand against racism/sexism/white supremacy as a whole. just how yu said that seeing more people of color on a screen is important and can change the world, yu are absolutely right. as a Latina from a working class family it wasn't until I began seeing CZcamsrs that look and sound like me that it gave me a push to feel more beautiful because I was finally being represented and no longer 'othered'. I could see that my features were beautiful just as theirs were too. thank yu, Queen 💜👑

Nicole Mendoza maybe because in this moment they were actually stunned at what she was saying. I really don't think they knew how to absorb the message. Or maybe they felt like " we've heard this before, WOC complaining about no representation in the beauty industry. It's a shame that segregation and discrimination is REAL everywhere; in fashion, in cosmetics, in employment , in basic everyday life. Perhaps the audience just didn't want to accept the underlying truth of what Jackie was speaking about. That's why they didn't find the "makeup consultant thing" funny.
