    They probably sometimes spelled night in the guide as “nite” because that’s how it’s displayed in the pokegear, but that doesn’t really explain why they would switch between the two so frequently

    • @BrothaDesmond2
      @BrothaDesmond2 Před 3 lety +48

      I think the most probable explanation is that there were multiple writers for the guide who did not coordinate with each other, and the editor just compiled all the submissions without looking for consistency. If the editor didn't play the game themselves (which is highly probable), they would not know the true order of events in the game, so just organized the events by what appeared to occur geographically first, without taking road blocks into consideration.

Yeah, that's probably the right word here. I just didn't enjoy the game as much as I did with the challenge presented with Chikorita. It just felt like starting RBFRLG with Bulbasaur. Silver is the canon version, in my opinion, and this isn't just because this was my first mainline game when I was 7.
    Thematically speaking, meeting Ho-Oh after beating Red is just poetic. Lugia is still my favorite, but I can't imagine Whirl Islands being the endgame for us when the opposite game is us climbing the most culturally significant icon in the entire Johto region to duel a very prominent figure in the region's folklore.
    Lugia's still important too, but for Ho-Oh to come first seems anticlimactic. Ho-Oh is the Mewtwo of GSC where Lugia is more one of the Legendary Bird/Beast trio in terms of narrative weight.

    I'm sick with covid and your video series (this one especially) inspired me to purchase OG silver on my 3ds and hammer away using your video as my own Nintended guide of sorts. I never beat the game as a kid (I was 7 when they came out) and it always frustrated me, especially Cianwood and Olivine gyms. When I would try to come back to them as an adult, I was horrified to discover the internal batteries in my Gold, Silver, and Crystal versions had all died and any proof of me laying down the law in Johto was lost to time. So thank you for this video series

    The reason the events are listed in the section for the town, and not organized by when you would do them is because Prima tended to make guides with the idea that you'd be flipping back and forth to reference things instead of going page by page. I don't think anybody ever expected anyone to do what you're doing. Lol. Most people use strategy guides explicitly as reference for justbthe oarts that they're struggling with, and being able to flip to a single section for the area where you're stuck is very helpful for that.

      It's the best option against Whitney, especially in HGSS (since taking a female one won't hurt your performance as much as in Gen 2. A female one won't be affected by Miltank's Attract, but will be far less strong in Gen 2). Because he's a really decent tank, that can totally shut down any offensive threat in the game. Growl + Reflect is pretty cheap.
      They sadly lack Leech Seed normally, and Poison powder isn't that great (Later on, Body Slam is good to disrupt the opponent even more, and he has Light Screen)
      Plus, it makes the rival slightly easier, since during the Rocket mission, he'll only have Quilava.
      It's hardly the top choice (in HGSS at least, it's definitely Totodile), but for a knowledgeable trainer, it can be surprisingly useful)

    In later games you can increase the happiness by taking lots of steps while they are first in your party.

It certainly made your team more interesting by the end of things; I always love seeing how people's Pokémon teams form over time.
