    When listening to the system, sit on you main listen place. (not 30-50cm infront of the ARC)
    Don't forget to change the subs Phase Contol aswell in the S2 APP (if you going 0 or 180)
    Turn up the volume separetly in Sub Audio.

      I actually agree with Dayo. I had the arc for a few years and yesterday I finally got the sub. The arc is ok but I always thought it was underwhelming. The sub really needs the settings changed to high, otherwise you just won’t hear it. Nevertheless, it’s not as good as I would expect it to be and I am actually sorry I got it. I should have watched this video before ordering it.

    Initially, I was also underwhelmed when I got mine... until I used the true play tuning and turned up the Sub Audio in the settings lol. And if you want a ridiculous amount of bass, just turn up the bass on the EQ. Oh and make sure the loudness setting is switched to on. Otherwise, you're really not getting the most out of the whole system. Hope this helps

    As a long time Sonos user, I have two comments. First, you are right in terms of the software not being as good, reliable and user friendly as it could be. I have had my challenges connecting equipment and this just shouldn’t be the case. For a premium product, the SW experience should be much better. All I can offer in their defense is that their customer service for tech problems is pretty good.
    Second, you understand that the setup is generally easy and you don’t have to deal with a receiver and a bunch of wires. True Play also makes it easy to integrate your system into your room. However, what you miss is that the system is modular. I think most Sonos customers are like me. I didn’t buy my system all at once. I started with the Playbase, then added a sub. Then I replaced the Playbase with the Arc, etc. IOW, I built the system up slowly over time. The individual pieces are on the expensive side,especially if you don’t catch a sale, but you are already in the Sonos system and it is cheaper to add the individual piece than scrap the system and start all over again.
    You also under play the benefits of the modular aspects of Sonos. You are in an apartment of the full size sub might be a bit much. Well, Sonos now has the sub Mini for people in your situation. If the Arc was too much, there is the Beam. For rear surrounds, you can use the One SLs, the Era 100s or the Era 300s. There is a lot of mix and match possibilities and different upgrade paths if you so choose. I doubt your Vizio offers anything near this level of versatility.

    • @DayoAworunse
      @DayoAworunse  Před 19 dny

      I agree in terms of versatility, Sonos has it down pat. I actually released a video recently about how I changed my view on Sonos. There’s a lot of backlash on the app and I’ve had a bad experience with the Sonos Aces but since it’s separate from the home theater space, I don’t judge too harshly in the HT space.

    Great video. Loved your style.
    Unfortunately the Sonos Arc only has one ARC connection, which of course is eARC to enable full Atmos audio signal from the TV to Sonos Arc, as long as your TV is new enough to have eARC.
    If not, and you do not want to buy a new TV, you'd have to buy an Apple TV. But as the Sonos Arc only has one ARC connection you can't feed the Apple TV to the Sonos Arc and the feed the video signal from the Sonos Arc to your old TV. (The reverse path.)
    You have to also buy a Fury splitter to go from the Apple TV to feed the video signal to your TV and the full Atmos audio signal to the Sonos Arc.
    And so if I wanted just one extra feature on the Sonos Arc it would be to have 2 eARC connections to enable pass through.
    If I am incorrect on any of the above, please correct me!

    Enjoyed this. I have the beam gen 2 and the sub mini. My reaction to the sub mini was just the same as you. Is it actually working? I placed my hand inside the gap and sure enough, yes, it was vibrating the speakers. But, it is subtle. I haven’t cranked up the settings as others have suggested. But it does make a difference even at low levels. From other reviews I watched it appears that the sub mini works in tandem with the beam gen 2, and off loads the bass aspect to the sub mini freeing the beam gen 2 to concentrate on the mid and high tones. That in turn gives the sound bar more capacity to play those aspects. Maybe that’s what is happening to your system as well. I was relieved to know that you experienced something similar albeit with a much ore ore expensive system. For me it confirms that I shouldn’t expect massive bass from the system, more that it is integrated into the overall sound. I do however appreciate the points other have raised that I can alter the EQ levels, and as you point out, crank up the volume. Thanks a for your honest opinion.

Also, calibration is ONLY available on iOS devices for TruePlay set up. I can't use my Samsung Galaxy for setting Sonos Arc TruePlay. I highly recommend that if you don't have iPhone, and you have Android, get the JBL 9.1 or the Klipsch Cinema series instead. The price is similar.

    @rsolsjo Před 2 lety +2

    And this is why reviewers use the product for a week or two before making a video about them. 😂 You're keeping it real for first time setup, but good Lord, a little patience? When it's connected, there's room placement, EQ, integration with the system, watching full length movies, listening to some music..
    Should be at least 3-4 days before you have an actual sense of the thing, maybe a week or two before making a nuanced user review.

    I live in Canada. Two years ago I purchased a 3rd Generation Sonos Sub. It cost after taxes was $1,015.87. So don't complain that it cost you $750. I have it piggy backing off of the Sonos Beam 1st. Generation. When the sub works off of the Beam the base is far more intense .

    It does suck to start it up, I had loads of fails too. You should however know if you spend so much money to do research and be able to use the sonos app to change settings. The sonos sub is fantastic and it does complete the system Its certainly not under whelming, its a huge improvement and you totally missed the point of this from this review I'm sure if you Look into the settings and you used it for a few days you will be in awe of it, The sonos arc sonos 1s and the sub is a fantastic set up.

      I changed the sub settings up to +3 during the recording of the video and it was still underwhelming for the price I paid. Sure it’s a fantastic sub, it improved dramatically the following day. Still don’t think the price justifies it but at least you can buy each component separately.

    The Klipsch Cinema 700 is worth checking out. I am struggling to update it, but the cost is dirt cheap compared to it's identical cousin Klipsch Cinema 800 which is nearly 1000. The sub is the real deal and most audiophile reviewers say it is too much, but it is never loose or boomy

  • @rovd4433
    @rovd4433 Před 2 lety

    I do not understand why people are complaining about the sonos subwoofer high cost unless it isn't worth its cost. Look, there are audiophiles spending over twice that amount on a single sub in a traditional hifi theater system. If audio passion isn't really your thing then a single soundbar should be your best.
    If you're really into sound quality, the traditional hifi set-up is the best, not soundbar set-up because their subwoofers aren't really that impactful.

    Your video was absolutely aggravating to watch maybe if you didn’t complain every 3 1/2 ms I could’ve made it all the way to the end. I have a full Sonos system exact set up you have and it is unbelievable I have had many many audio systems in the past and I would never go back again don’t know what all your problem was but mine was fantastic I am a true Sonos fan for life now

    • @DayoAworunse
      @DayoAworunse  Před 2 lety

      Glad you enjoy your system, but that doesn't dismiss the setup process I went through for the sub, when following their directions, multiple times. Exaggerated a bit by falling asleep, but the issue was fixed when I stopped following their directions, by not allowing them to auto connect to my living room setup.
      My last arc video was a breeze, complications happen in software and this is just the reality.
      Sub was underwhelming for the price, but it is what it is. Rather have a full setup for half the cost of a sub. That's just my personal opinion and Sonos clearly isn't made for value-centric people. RTings put my $299 system a few decimals behind a full Sonos setup in the overall score so for people saying "STOP COMPARING YOUR TRASH SYSTEM TO SONOS", reputable sources say otherwise but...to each their own. The only thing I'll give Sonos is the software and speech clarity. The sound isn't anything "stellar", especially with all the hype Sonos fans try to convince you of. Maybe that's the sunken cost effect.
      Other than that, it's overpriced for what it delivers.
