This has to be one of the coolest planes ever
The aircrew consisted of 1 pilot and 3 ECMOs (Electronic Countermeasures Officers) not EWOs. The front left was the pilot, right front was ECMO1 who navigated and ran the search radar and the communication jammer. The 2 backseaters were ECMO2 and ECMO3 who ran the radar jamming equipment.
Was an AT, and worked on the Grumman EA-6B Prowlers, X-CAP and I-CAP versions, com/nav/radar and EW systems, from 77-81, in 2 diff VAQ Squadrons, 4 different carriers. It was an interesting aircraft to work on. I can still remember everything in that lovely bird cage, and being up working on the Football's receivers. Along with humping the pods and all the transmitters. All I need now is to get a whiff of jet fuel, I will have a full blown flash back... LOL What a great aircraft it was...
The Prowler is the most badass looking plane there is.
Hands down the loudest aircraft on the flight deck at full power , Those j-52 turbojets would rattle the fillings loose in your head !
1. The AN/ALQ-99 jammers were mounted under the wings and centerline…the Fincap held the ESM system for the Prowler.
"the Fincap"(sic)
Known as the football.
Living in WA. state, I’ve been to Whidbey Island Air station (DOD home of counter measures a/c), and surrounding areas, we now of course have the EA18 Growler. I’m still partial to the EA6, truth be told!!👍🏽🇺🇸🇺🇸
I like it they are powerful
Tuyệt vời lắm 💯😍👍👍
Nice Jet!
Thr jamming pods on the Prowler are on the wings not in the tail pod. The receivers for the ALQ-99 are in the tail.
Yup, so MANY mistakes/errors in this video due to a lack of research.
Prowler Growler Blanking the Sky ! Flight of the Intruder !. Harrier Great Performer at Air Shows !
like.great video.strong people
Read the book in the 80's while stationed at Lejeune. B4 all the wizardry of the raptor n lightning this was one of my favorite aircraft. Movie didnt live up to the book though.
ALL all good! USA USA USA!
That hell hole at 2:49!
In my experience, it's always been the Airport Tower that gives permission for an aircraft to depart.
I worked on the EA-6B Prowler.
Super Hornets can also refuel their own kind.
At 2:07 I thought dude had a Papa John’s logo on his helmet
ALQ99 jammer pod located in the enlarged tail section???? lol
keren bang 😍😍😍
Shar Min Aung.
That’s was my second airplane i worked on after the intruder.
Nada es imposible
GREAT AMERICA
There is NO flying boom operator, its a shute, Navy.
Common USA god bless you
Navy Prowlers were retired in 2015, Marines in 2019
Yup, so MANY mistakes/errors in this video due to a lack of research.
Do you know this has been retired for a while now?
That’s what I was thinking
It was mentioned in the video, lol
2019
March 2019
Then it's just a history class. Smile and be happy.
Yes now the F-18 Hornet is doing it's thing with that. Growler instead of prowler
What's the thing the EAF 18 does?
The airframe may be better on the F18 but the avionics and ecm on the prowler was still better, shame it was retired.....
I see you, I see what you did @TheDailyAviation at 2:45 when you started playing the music with the Prowler, I'm Afraid of Americans by David Bowie🤣🤣🤣...
Hermosa aeronave
캬 해병대도 프라울러가 있네 ㄷㄷ

Look like Intruders retired for a while during Vietnam war …? Thanks for memorial sharing buddies .(ARVN Veterans)🇺🇸🇫🇷🇨🇦🇬🇧🇦🇺🇹🇼👏
They didn’t mention that the Harriers down by the United States is a totally redesigned Harrier flawless the Harrier II AV8B not just an Harrier AV8B
More propaganda continues for an aircraft the Marines never should have acquired in the first place.
Sacrés engins que sont les EA-6 , AV-8 et MV-22 !!!!!
I kinda miss the EF-111 Raven.
The EF-111 was the first electronic countermeasures aircraft. The prowler was slow and could not keep up with most of the aircraft that they were supposed to be helping 😂.
True, but the Spark 'Vark was very limited in its jamming abilities. It could only jam with 2 emitters at a time because they were powered by the engines. The Prowler could jam with ALL of its emitters because the Pods provided their own power thanks to that Ram Air Turbine (RAT) on the nose of each pod. Besides, Prowlers would jam from afar. No need to keep up with the strike package. Besides, they always had fighter escorts for protection.
@@TheBlkpilot First?!?!?!?!? You need to do your research.

doing the preflight inspection with that very very expensive helmet on is crazy
I love pilot❤🎉 but I'm scared to set the plne😅
vietnam, korea, iraq, yugoslavia, syria, these planes had there work cut out for them, however the war on resources chip manafactureing , qualifyed seasoned pilots who pertisapated in real combat condisons are thinning out retireing, not too mention mechaincs ground crews all essenial for the sucess ,
Allways not new so more allways ☺
The Navy retired the EA-6B but the Marine Corps is still flying them.
Not any more. The USMC Prowlers were retired around 2019.
Incorrect. The last of the Prowlers were retired by VMAQ-2 in March 2019.
Still cool to check them out. And a 3 seat fighter. You don't see that every day.
4 seat Electronic Attack not a fighter.
advertisement every 2 min ? FY
The Prowler is by far the loudest of all the women. Not even an A-10 has the vocal fortitude of this whiny girl.
Correct. However, the loudest plane I ever heard was a French Mirage. I could hear that thing taxiing a thousand feet away from me on the otherside of the Prowler I was going through the startup sequence with, while my bird's engines were running. That Mirage made your teeth rattle!
퇴역한거 우리나라 주면 안될까?
이젠 EA18이 있으니까 EA6은 한국에 주세요.
북한을 상대할때 매우 유용학게 쓸 수 있고 그러면 미국에도 도움이 될겁니다.
I thought the EA-6 was decommissioned
Didn't read the description, did you?
"Welcome back to The Daily Aviation for a feature on the incredible EA-6B Prowler, a US electronic warfare aircraft that dominated the skies for decades until it's recent retirement."
@@AA-xo9uw I read it later after I made the comment.
Old video
There is so much wrong information. I had to stop.
Yup, so MANY mistakes/errors in this video due to a lack of research.
The F-35 was supposed to be a cost effective compliment to the F-22, and now the USAF is saying they man need a less expensive jet as a low cost compliment to the low cost compliment. We should have built a followon to the F16 and the F-18 and relied on the F22 for penetration roles. The Navy had it right with the EA6. It is cheaper and more effective to jam the enemy. That is what they will do to us.
More american america great and forevere wath evere any were evry were sure . more boring we are plz!
اريذ واحدة مجهزة لي ولي صديقي وجنذيين مضلين راكب الاول يسوق من الخلف اربعة مقاعذ
An ugly attack plane has turned into a smart tactical plane.
Ou sont les pilotes noirs et indien au usa??🤔🤔🤔
Wow. Tons of misinformation in this video. You obviously didn't talk to anyone who actually flew this jet.
Us million dollars toys, did anybody see us do anything beneficial to environment or humanity?
How can people understand if they only use English... not everyone can speak English and turn off the subtitles...
Where's the EA-6A?????????????
Yup, so MANY mistakes/errors in this video due to a lack of research.
The EA-6A Electric Intruder was developed for the USMC in the early 1960s.
