Hi! Awesome match! Just passing by to add up to what was already stated: creatures die when they have lethal damage on them and state base actions are checked. That check doesn't happens while resolving a spell or ability, only after that. So the orc army survives, even while it is sustaining lethal damage for the time you take to read the last sentence of that ability haha.
Yeah definitely learned that now 😆
@@DeadOnBoardMTG Sorry to be that guy haha.
No worries I'm happy to learn my mistakes
hi bumble hear thank you for the input this is the first time ive ever been aware of how this resolves. no one has ever corrected me on that play b4. I will no longer attempt to make that play
@@psytpdGlad to help. Magic is a hard game =)
I apologize for the amass misunderstanding on not knowing you cant ping your own orc to kill orc before it gets amassed.
Yeah always good to learn new things, thanks for playing though it was such a fun game
That Teysa deck is neat
Help me understand why attacking bumble mattered for senpai, protection doesn't prevent the attack so he can still glint horn to kill the other 2 players (since protection prevents damage) then just try to win the heads up? Attacking any other player wouldn't have change this scenario no?
He didn't have the mana to activate glinthorn, he needed the treasures from the attack to start the combo
I have a question regarding 5:52...
Wouldn't it be the "correct" way for Vespur to hold priority in order to cast Tainted with Thassa on the stack so EDHsenpai couldnt have cast Born Upon a Wind at that moment? Or does the Rhystic trigger interfere with my line of thought?
I mean it does not make a difference here, i just try to get the hang of priorities and stuff as a newer player.
So it's best to get the thassa to resolve, then holding priority with the etb cast tainted. Senpai was responding to the creature cast incase someone had a way to interact there. If vesper cast tainted without thassas resolving then it's possible that someone counters the thassa after the tainted resolves and that just takes her out of the game
@@DeadOnBoardMTG Ahhh, i see! That was my misunderstanding... I always thought you cast tainted in response to the thassa cast and not to the thassa etb trigger. That makes so much more sense... I have also been wondering from time to time when thassa + tainted (thassa cast, not etb trigger like i thought) are on the stack and some counters followed like:
Thassa > Tainted > Counter1 (target tainted) > Counter2 (target Counter1)
why i havent seen someone deflecting swat Counter2 to Thassa so the player trying to combo had now 2 counters coming for him... But with the thassa etb trigger this is not possible...
Thank you very much!
I checked out the Heliod decklist, it doesn't have Tidespout Tyrant?
I think you might have missed it, it's in the list
The mats 💀
How can you kill the orc token with Bowmaster?
Maybe if they had volume, I'd know.
We were playing it since the damage happens first then the amass it would die, if that's incorrect then whoops
@@DeadOnBoardMTG The damage and amass happen at the same time. There is no way you could have killed the token because the damage is not checked as an SBA until after the ability has resolved in its entirety.
Gotcha that's good to know, I don't think it mattered in this game but I'll let the player know for next time
@@Regularsarikas thanks for the input! bumble here, i never knew how that resolved until you brought it up in this video. I will no longer make that play.
Your volume is broken.
Can you explain? The video sounds normal to me
audio works fine man
rhystic and tithe is auto win, also the other decks too sooooo long to threaten
Lol yeah although senpai did threaten a win much earlier then I could have stopped it
