Ironfists give +1 attack now. Especially important when the 2 Bull units first engaged.
After years and years of my frogman being hugged RIGHT & TIGHT by the temple guard it will be strange to see him straight up barebacking the battlefield from now on
i though the same thing at first! Funny thing is, its way better for the Slann.
This give me an idea for a video that must be made!
I like the sentiment, but do we have to refer to it as “barebacking”? That’s conjuring up images I normally have to search DeviantArt to find… 🤣🤣🤣
Leave combat to the saurus, as the old ones intended. Also looks way better than the 8th ed solo stoner Slann. Thanks for all the ace content and keep it up! @@MountainMiniatures
I'm part way through and I noticed you mention the salamanders moving 12 and using the breath weapon. The first FAQ came out today and it mentions that for marching and shooting purposes a breath weapon still counts as a kind of missile weapon. Not 100% sure that's what's happening here as I might have missed something. But thought I would mention it, we are obviously all still getting used to the rules! Loving the batrep so far! And how stoked you are to be playing!
Great battle report, lovely to see the ogres back. One bit of friendly feedback - the Lizardman player is quite hard to understand sometimes, he speaks very quickly! Hope that’s not taken negatively, I really enjoy your vids.
Nah its all good, i get to excited when i play, i try to remind myself to talk slower, but i never seem to
Can't wait to see luka's khorne army demon list
oh this was all hilarious the way they were taunting poor Steve. "I cant accept your unconsession"
"You go 2" deep into me" 😂
Aaaaqaah! I've been waiting for an Ogre Old World video! Still waiting on their rules pdf so I'm so excited to see what they can do!!!
How did the cold ones have a rank with 3 models?
The fact that I can now mount a tyrant on of of the big monsters is a scary but welcoming thought.
Also Sabre Tusks as core unit is nice as well.
Will you make a video speaking about all the changes for ogre kingdoms? I would love to hear what you have to say.
(I didnt watch the full vid yet)
Love the content and my Ogor people are in this battle report!
LETS GO FROG GOD i see you are doing your best to make my choice harder Steve.
Lizardmen can fight wow that is a lot of attacks
31:46 you bring up a good point. If the centre to centre matters a lot and if it's not a right-angle then the unit wont flee at a right-angle.
Ah what a wonderful day. There are lizardmen and Steve mockery. The only thing that would make this perfect is if the correct Tower was used on the table.
Yes, not only some Old World BatReps, but with my big boys featured! Love Ogres!
That spell range checks out
As a comment, for any Magical Vortex spells, if they ever end a move over a unit, it continues in the same direction until it can be placed on the battlefield not touching the bases of any models (Pg 107). So @21:09 in the video when the monsoon moves, it can't stop under the base of the ogre, it would have to keep moving, which would have put it behind the orge cav.
Stupidity is tested at Start of Turn but moves at compulsory moves step. That is after charges and before remaining moves.
love your channel and reports :)
The pdfs are out by a couple of hours and you already have a battle report ready? That's impressive lol !
That was fun to watch!
Thank you Steve
Johnny did a really good job, considering how handicapped he was with a level 2 wizard instead of a level 4. What kind of person makes a list like that?
Yes to these batreps!!!! Heros!!!
"You know what else is good? A dead salamander."
True brother!! Praise the MAW!!
Awesome thanks steve
fyi, since this came up: The Salamander Hunting pack doesn't have Motley Crew, it has Beast Handler. The rules for which is on page 20 of the Lizardmen. You allocate attacks onto models they're in base contact of.
I see someone is from or teaches in Dacula, GA. Good to see a local boy playing Ogres.
Thanks so much guys. I'm playing my first tournament this month.
Awesome thanks steeve
Steve, a thought that just occurred to me: you could use that earthen ramparts spell to control impetuous units better
Do spells not have to be cast from the wizard's front arc?
That Slann was trying to ping spells 360
How do your cold one riders have a rank bonus?
Isn't the Slann allowed to be inside the temple guard unit? Or do you have him out of the unit and only because you want to?
WOOOO!
YES!
Why they do the hit rolls on template attacks?
28:38 is this not a mistake per new rules? You can complete a charge wheel if you don't end the charge in contact?
Scrap launcher charged down a hill at the stegadon, but didnt get the +1 combat bonus
LETS GO!!!
Honestly this was one of my favorite TOW battle reports so far.
I'm not convinced you need a level 4 caster, but perhaps a level 3+, and usually if you have a 3+, a level 4 isn't much more expensive. (There are exceptions.)
Why during turn 2 Ogre the unit on the left far end did not charge the saurus on the left far end?
Breath weapons are considered shooting attacks. That was clarified in the FAQ yesterday.
Love all the gold :O
I really wanna see a batrep between empire and empire without magical stuff just to see how good one can emulate Pike & Shot era CCQ with this.
more batreps like this plz
For the god of the Algorithm!
What size ranks would be best for ogres? Typically in fantasy they were in ranks of 3 models but now base sizes have gone up I feel ranks of 4 would be better, like a unit of 8/9 bulls or ironguts would benefit more from a 4x2 or even 4x3 set up rather than a 3x3 or 3x4
This is only true, if you play without terrain like they do. Making the unit too wide will hinder your maneouvrebility a lot on a sensible table that's not just "okay, lets move all our pieces into the middle of the table and roll dice for 6 rounds"
@@leichtmeister that’s very true regarding manoeuvrability. However if you wish to add a character then it does need to be 4xX but I suppose not for every unit!
How can the butcher join a 3x2 unit with full command and displace the bellower?
Noted ill look into that. They might not be able to. But force of habit. As soon as i get to my rule book ill check
Yum yum Dino bits.
Seems like OK is still OP.
Good bat rep, read through a couple of the Legacy PDFs and they seem perfectly playable, even very good and what's more they are pretty meaty and fully featured, especially surprising for Chaos Dwarfs.
You guys are so funny ^^
it wasnt 4 turns ago skarri, it was 4 HOURS ago. which was last turn
What a glorious mess. Seems like a fun edition so far.
still waiting for my trays to get shipped from the 11th
haha hell yea seeing my 2 current armies while i wait for TK box to arrive is awesome. seeing how they match up is cool
Ask the Dwarves about needing a level 4 caster because they can’t have one!
Slann is etherial , but cool battlerep
LIZARDMEN!! 😊
Noticed you use obsidian blade rule on the temple guard, but that is only in their hand weapons not the halberds, unless I am mistaken it’s a bit of weird rule implication tbh
It is only on their hand weapons, and i only used it on their hand weapons in this video.
@@MountainMiniatures ah missed that, the 8th rule habit popping up in my mind of you fight with your special weapon no choice
@@RS-fu6yc My dude all my 8th ed biases are doing a number on me too! lol
Watched two release day battle reports for the legacy pdfs. Three units of cold ones. Every one failed stupidity at least once. 🤪
Is it just me or does magic seem to not have enough of an impact on the battle to justify the huge point cost of the Slann?
Regarding skirmishers redirecting, they should be able to do it still, to some degree, sice you have to always take the shortest route when charging.
And poor slann. He has seen better -editions- days. Lore of lustria is quite bad.
Couldnt disagree with this more. Slann was lack luster my first read. but a few games i think the Slann is top tier mage. Im gonna have to make an update video about all my first impressions that have changed.
@@MountainMiniatures That you will have to explain to me. The only special thing they get are the disciplines (can only get one), no bonuses no special rules, and being large target they have to be near TG to not become a pin cushion or charged. That also limits its movement.
I cant say they are bad for the points yet. They are just *unspecial*.
@@detorrV2 You haven't played yet right? The best way to run wizards are on their own, on a flaying mount. You say hes 100 points more then anyone else's wizard, but doesn't get anything.
He has 5 wounds not the 3 every one else has, he has a 5+ ward save, he has large target, he can see over other minis, he has fly built in, something your going to need to buy for every other wizard. I mean NEED, i will have every wizard i can on some mount that can fly.
They are a steal at 285
@@MountainMiniatures i rather have an easily untargeteable character than the extra capabilities. But i'll see, i'll see.
@@grlmgor Sure, but i prefer to have the option, and to be hiding behind or inside an infantry unit.
Being big is a disadvantage more than an advantage. You dont want to be targeted by the entire table.
I feel like Steve really gamed his opponent badly in this match. Only gave him a level 2 caster and didn’t tell him about the overrun alignment rules until it was too late. The Ogre player should have folded the Lizards right flank in turn 2.
Ogre Kingdoms! Top fraction 3k or more points :D
Why would killing that one lizardmen rider lead to an overrun?
How boring do you want to deploy your terrain?
YES
🤦
How many points is this?
What is your opinion of this nerfed cold blood? The frosts are useless now, as seen in the game, and the lizards are now as demoralizable as any (living) army. Are lizards really playable now?
Wowser! What a game! Both armies throw out so many attacks I wonder how they’ll do into other books as both armies also seem “quite “ resilient
Steve, do you think this is how typical lists will look across all the factions? All the lists seem to just be 3 bricks of infantry and some support (artillery, monster etc) what’s your take on that? Is something like MSU dead? I used to like running little units that work together in past editions…
Since the basically play without terrain, their lists are...not good too.
@@leichtmeister Warhammer was never played with a "lot" of terrain. Units still need to reverse the board and they do so in a significantly slower manner than games like AOS. A few woods, a ruin/pond maybe a couple of hills is all you use. You don't want a terrain cluttered table.. so that's a moot point. In terms of lists. Steve makes a point of saying the lists aren't competitive..they are here to entertain with a good game. Not table each other in two moves..my question was aimed at this style of play over tournament lists.as that's what I'll be focusing on
@@benbiddiss336 Sorry, but you are wrong. 🤷
Warhammer was ALWAYS played with terrain actually being on the battlefield and not just some pieces at the very edges that don't impact the game at all and a huge open space in the middle.
It was also never possible to table somebody in two moves. That's an AoS thing.
You asked if MSU is dead. That is clearly a question about the functionality of the concept. If you were just about the fun, you wouldn't ask this question.
Btw: MSU was always very dependent on having terrain being on the table, because you needed to hide your units from enemy shooting ;)
@@grlmgor multiple small units
Instead of taking 1 big block of 20-30 guys, you take 2-4 5-10 man units, on their own they won't be much other than speed bumps, but together they used to hit harder than one block when they charge and fight together, while also providing more mobility allowing them to get into annoying places like flanks of units
@@leichtmeister "sorry but I'm wrong"? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Pissed myself reading that ! OR you played in different circles to me who played the game different. 25 years playing old fantasy before it was killed off. Sorry to say I didn't get to try WAP as fantasy died in my area when GW killed it . Bit certainly old fantasy, whether my house, a friend's, many clubs and events I went to, all Had way less terrain than games you see today. That's my experience of the game and the experiences of the people I will play. Don't assume the entire community plays the game YOUR way
Yeah steve cheated like crazy in this game. 😂
When the chariot overran into the Lizards at 36:58, a new combat would begin. Overrun allows for up to one additional combat to happen if that combat was not resolved and since the far left flank Lizardmen did not fight yet, they would count as being charged and fight immediately with the chariot.
They only fight again if the enemy unit was engaged in combat at the start of the phase and that combat has not been fought yet. So since the unit the chariot overran into wasn't in combat, there isn't an additional combat
Very cautious about the legacy factions…apparently they will not receive support/balance updates and not be legal in GW tournaments. I like the idea of an army for AoS and Old World though, but we shall see what the future holds.
at 1 hour 8 minutes you say you need a 6 to make the charge, and you roll a 7, but proceed to claim you did not make the charge. What happened? Is this a rule I do not know? Thanks!
I rolled a 5 and a 2. you only keep the high dice. so i rolled a 5, i needed a 6
@@MountainMiniatures Thank you for the reply. That will make for a lot of missed charges :-( wonder why they did that
When the sarus flank charged the orges, you said only three were in combat range. But I thought the whole front rank gets to attack even if not in base to base?
No, all models in front rank attack, but those not in bae to bae only get 1 attack
I hate to say it.
Old world is better than 6th.
The reform after combat.
The random charge but not as random as 8th.
This game is here to last.
Excellent stuff supporting Fantasy all these years.
It's 6th with a few updates to improve it, essentially.
As core rules, 7th was better than 6th - common sense changes like codifying fast cavalry and restricting panic checks to running through rather than just running past units were so successful no one remembers 6th didn't have them. 6th was the best edition of WFB before now less because of the core rules but because it was the one edition that got both army balance and balance between heroes/monsters and units right.
From all the feedback so far Old World is a step forward in that as well, so there seems nothing wrong in judging it better than 6th. Quite frankly GW makes far better games now than it did in the 2000s, almost across the board - the worst game they've released since the debacle that was AoS 1 back in 2015 is Legiones Imperialis, essentially because it was a copy-pasted ruleset from 1992 and so seems exceptionally poor when compared against all modern GW games.
i would love to watch these but they are so long, have you thought about cutting out calcs and all of the fluf between rolls like you do with the movements
The difference between a level 2 and a level 4 in casting and dispelling is really harsh.
Oh my two favourite armies... 1 hour 20 is a bit intimidating though, think trying to hit the magical 30 minutes is ideal, and 40 is understandable
FOR ALGORYTHMO! FOR THE STEVE! FOR LUGNUT MCGILLYGULLY JR THE BESTIGOR!
Lizardmen look weak as fuck in TOW and seeing this don't help me thinking otherwhise. With a lot of lorefull, or fun, option tools gone, i hoped it's compensate by some competitive effectivness... I will keep them in watch and hope some players figure out how to make them work a bit. (And Rip CoC ;( )
lizardmen are definitely not weak imo. Play some games with them, they do great.
@@MountainMiniatures I strugling enought agains't ogre in 8th (Draw yesterday) and CoC is my favorite unit who already fail engouh stupidity test ; (
And even without talking about strengh, it lack fun and flavor for my taste. The tool of a legacy faction i suppose.
But thank for your answer, it keep a little hope, i will be less reluctant if someday my friends want to jump out 8th for TOW.
Got lots of ogors for AoS, not sure about rebasing em for this.
Especially my 5 Stonehorns, Mournfang and Ironblasters.
get some adapters or even cardboard cut at the size to give it a shot :) no need to rebase
Why rebase? 🤔 When the base sizes were announced, all of the fan boys said, "There's no need to rebase!" 😳
I was almost hopeful that the worst faction ever added to this game wouldn't win. Watching em win so many older edition battle reports in ridiculous ways just soured me on them so much. This at least seemed a bit closer.
Ogre Kingdoms used to win battles? I obviously fell out of the loop in later editions. Back when they came out they were awful. Monstrous infantry in general was bad, and an army made up of it seemingly purely to try and sell the game to people put off by large model count armies was set up to fail from the start.
Please don't rebase. You can use the movement trays for Old World. Would be a shame to lose out on all the old editions forever.
You wont, the bases size increase it pretty universal. We may still go back an play older editions from time to time.
Lizzards just got so bad in this edition..... on the other hand u used ot a single skink and no monster at all...
Camera man is a cheater

Is the ogre player new at playing that army?
That army kills when you field only iron guts no bulls.
That iron blaster should have been used to shoot those Saurus warriors and Temple guard not charging like a chariot.
If you're going to do that you might as well just use lead belchers.
Scrap launchers only do good against low toughness opponents.
you played a lot of “the old world” with your ogres already I take it?
Agree, the ogre player is a noob. Make sure he sticks to playing orcs in the future
@@MountainMiniatures I've played ogres 6th 7th 8th and armies project.
