Seeing the word “LARRY” not misspelled or distorted in the generated images was actually the most impressive detail for me
Absolutely!
Haha felt so good to see 😅

Yooooo what are you doing here!! Hold on to your papers!!
Hold on to your papers fellow Scolars!
I smell a video coming :)
The papers doesn't exist...
omg you are here
This video should really be called “multi-modal generative AI” because that is the real value here. DALL-E 3 looks impressive, but mixing the texts responses with art responses is taking the product to the next level
and character images can be consistent😮
Additional multimodal stuff just got announced!
@@jpatt0n Indeed The bike seat image demo on OpenAI's site was great. Bing Chat already supports voice and images, but I'm curious if it is as full-featured as that!
@@carkawalakhatulistiwayeah character consistency is the real crazy stuff!
This isn't multi-modal. Its simply using a hidden gpt-3 agent to interpret the user input and generate a better prompt for DALL-E 3. These are two distinct AI models working together, not a single multimodal one. GPT-4 vision is the only multi-modal AI model that we know of from OpenAI. It can understand and interpret image data and text data.
It can remember images?! That is absolutely insane, the rate at which this is growing is surreal
Except for the way it was used is the creepiest way possible... I sure cant wait to read my kids a story WRITTEN BY AI, no human creativity left anymore in the future

On the one hand, I'm thrilled to see the progress A.I. is making in graphics, but on the other hand, I feel sorry for the many talented artists who often had to work on their skills for years to reach such a level (if at all).
I don't think this defeats the purpose of artists atall tbh
@@calitreesweetnope but it defeats their income

eventually ai + robotics + infinite solar energy will take all the jobs ..its gonna be a new form of reality where everybody will have abundance and nobody has to work...scary
@@armandooliveira3712 Humanity will finally have autonomy over their work hours and free time. Oh wait, we already had that before capitalism
The coolest thing to me is the fact that it remembers Larry through prompts and drags new attributes through new prompts. That opens so many possibilities. Like a mad-libs / choose your own adventure fully illustrated kids book generating app.
That is the key thing isn't it? If you want to tell an illustrated story using AI, then the character has to stay the same. This is the nail in the coffin for children's book illustration, storyboard artists etc... And great writers are going to find this to be the perfect vehicle to tell stories with.
@@williamparrish2436 I mean thats already possible with other things tho and much better, the biggest part here is the combination with ChatGPT.
Should've already gotten image recognition and upload in ChatGPT / GPT API (?), but OpenAI needs to bend over or they will suffer, because other companies will limit what they can actually do.
@@williamparrish2436For an illustrated kids' book, the art also has to stay the same though. Going by this video, the art is all over the place. There's no consistency in each illustration of Larry.

Hello I am an illustrator. I would really like to thank you for killing my job while crushing my dreams and keeping me work 9/5 at lidl 🤩🤩🤩
Why let the humans do the fun jobs when we can make ai do that so that these peasants can get back to what really matters? Making them coal miners so that we can get the energy to run Dalle's servers!

As a hedgehog myself, it was nice to Larry represent our community. We are finally getting the recognition we desrve. Thank you Dalle! 😊
I'm impressed with the power of your models, but I'm... charmed that you picked a kind, compassionate example for showcasing them instead of the classic "how to boost your company's productivity with AI". I'm aware that it's a calculated marketing choice but still, the world needs more of this. Well done ❤
That’s how you sell something that is supposed to be extremely worrying. “Let’s not talk about all those grown up stuff… copyright, jobs, unemployment, undermining of human creativity… Look! A cute hedgehog!”
@@CRAG710 I believe that what OpenAI sells (but also researches on), and generally speaking AI, is indeed risky waters as electricity was back in the 19th century. Risky doesn't equate dangerous. Society's tendency to exploit people -and entities, and resources- for profit, the MISUSE of it, is the worrying part to me. We should advocate for better policies and regulations instead of saying that the technology itself is a problem when it's one of the possible solutions
(I refrained to say "I understand where you're coming from" because that seems written by chatGPT. But I do)
@@CRAG710
Boo hoo
@@CRAG710 is it undermining human creativity? I'm not so sure - I'm using it daily and am more creative than I've been in years, because a lot of the "dull" experimentation in both copy and sifting through assets is gone and out of the window. I'm learning new workflows and I can feel my approach to work is different, but I don't think it's negatively affecting my output - the opposite, if anything.
It's not your output. If you're satisfied with a computer doing all of the intellectual labour, then you were never truly a creative.

Ehm..... If you are afraid of the end, you should be afraid of aging and the diseases of aging, brother. Not of a technology that will be the basis for solving these and other health problems.
@@solvinghealth It depends how you interpret their comment. I interpreted it as the beginning of the end of human technology or human inventions, etc.
Perhaps few years from now, instead of browsing libraries of content looking for something to enjoy we might just sit back and share a prompt like "a 2 hour movie in a setting like the fifth element, a plot like ocean's eleven and everyone has harry potter style magic powers"
But there are millions of possible "2 hour movies in a setting like the fifth element, a plot like ocean's eleven and everyone has harry potter style magic powers" You need to share the seed as well!
Also interesting would be watching the existing movies and shows with changes that we suggest.
- Game of Thrones, where Daenerys isn't the mad queen, the Hound becomes the king and kills Cersei gruesomely.
- Rocky starring Tom Holland and Princess Diana. Turn it into a VR movie.
Or feed books to AI so we can see the book instead of Hollywood's shitty interpretation. I love Stephen King's The Running Man. It would have made an incredible movie just as it was written.

"...and have me playing the main character and my boss is the villain"
This stuff is incredible, but people need to be careful that it doesn't stunt their ability to be creative. We need to also be careful that artists still get credit.
That cat is out of the bag and has clawed the bag to shreds. It’s already been trained on hundreds of thousands of artists’ works.
Already multiple solutions can be found in current copyright law. AI generation is literally derived from pre-existing works and it cannot create anything without running through thousands of works. Any AI-generated image should by default be considered a derivative because that's quite literally all it is.
The other way is simply through licensing. Licensing enables artists to regulate how their work can be used and shared, it can also include terms that require anyone else using/sharing the work under that license to apply the same restrictions if they decide to share it further. If artists on a broad level no longer allow their works to be used for AI, AI will be done for because it's like a parasite and can't survive without it's host where all the creativity resides in.
Logical legal steps in court/legislation would be to require express licensing of works to be used for AI and ban any and all AI that is trained on works without express permission of the creative minds behind them
@@Bladieblah I don't necessarily disagree with you - but for the sake of discussion, aren't all artists deriving from pre-existing works in one form or another, whether consciously or subconsciously? And don't they synthesize all that learning, consciously or subconsciously, and output a product that is, while new/unique, ultimately inspired by an existing work of art? Doesn't the AI just do exactly what humans do but just...........MORE?
@@skaterhugs1147What differentiates humans and AI is that humans have access to a personal life with personal experiences and emotions which they represent in art. The AI can only learn from pre-existing representations of emotions and experiences

Generative AI is significantly lowering the barriers to entry to so many fields, it's astonishing.
Internet did that to some extent but Generative AI is bringing it to a whole different level.
While I see where you are coming from, in actual fact AI is only lowering the barrier for entry just enough to trick people into thinking they have the right answers and tools to perform real tasks. But once they're asked to do anything real which requires legitimate knowledge of what they're doing, they'll have to go back to the drawing board and learn a real craft, just like the coders who made this technology possible.
In conclusion, the only people who will ever have enough talent to make these derivative digital hallucinations good enough to provide actual value are the same artists and writers who are being threatened with replacement. You will never be able to fully automate away talent.

I can get behind AI if it becomes a tool that enhances human creativity, supports learning, and helps with tedious tasks like sorting/formatting information. We don’t need AI to create something from beginning to end for us, and to be given total control over the creation process. The control should be handed over to the human, and the AI should only act as a tool to bring to life a person’s imagination, or to help with tedious/repetitive tasks. If a person is asking the AI to create a specific image, they should have options to train the AI on custom characters, and be able to repeat those characters consistently in different scenes, as well as have the flexibility to edit the generated results as needed. Also, AI has the potential to be useful for more than just image generation. For example, AI has the capacity to analyze large amounts of information quickly and therefore it would have a much easier time finding relevant information than a human can. This could make it a great tool for learning and research. Imagine if you could provide the AI with all of the textbooks and reading materials for your course, and then ask the AI specific questions that you need help finding the answer to. Since AI can go through information quickly, it can analyze all of your course materials and provide you with the information you need, as well as tutor you on things that you don’t understand. In another example, imagine that you’re doing research, and you need to find information on a highly specific topic. The only way you can find this information and all of the various details/aspects related to it is if you read through thousands of pages of information, which would take you a very long time to do on your own. However, since AI can read through large amounts of information from different sources very quickly, it can find for you the information you’re looking for as it is presented by different sources. The AI can be asked to search certain books for information, or search the internet, or limit the search to only specific sources, or exclude certain sources. All information should be properly sourced though, as it is up to the human to vet the information. The AI can also be useful for finding patterns in the information, which can help the human make better sense of everything. Additionally, it would be helpful if we could use AI to format written information. I’ve found myself in situations where I put together a lot of written information, and then had to manually go through everything to properly format it to look appealing. It’s a very tedious & time-consuming task, and I wish I could instruct an AI on how I want the information formatted, or demonstrate to it by formatting a small part of it myself and then having the AI do the rest. The AI in each of these cases serves as a tool, but the real creativity and brains behind the creations is the human. This is what I hope AI becomes, rather than just being something that completely takes over the creation process. Humans have their strengths, and computers have their own strengths, and it would be best to work together according to those strengths. AI is the tool, while humans are the ones that bring forth the planning and creativity.
No one will read this
@@Rohit-cj6eb I did
@@Rohit-cj6eb I did
@@Rohit-cj6eb Why is that? Is my writing hard to read or is it just too long? In any case, here is the gist of what I wrote. I was saying that AI shouldn’t be given total control over the creation process from beginning to end. It should only serve as a tool to assist humans bring to life their ideas, as well as to help with tedious tasks. Humans should still be the brains behind projects, being in charge of the creative process and creativity, but the AI can be the assistant in helping to get things done much faster, as one thing AI really does excel at is speed. But in order for this to happen, AI needs to be more controllable and able to follow complex instructions. This is basically what I was explaining in my longer comment, except I gave examples in that one, which is why it came out to be really long.
@@Rohit-cj6eb Here are some examples of features that I think would make AI more useful, while giving the human a lot of control over the creation process:
*1 -* Train the AI on custom characters & repeat those characters consistently in different scenes. Have control over posing the characters, changing their facial expressions, changing the camera angle, and deciding other aspects in the scene.
*2 -* Complex image editing
*3 -* Turn concept drawings & full-color artwork into 3D objects & 3D environments.
*4 -* Analyze large amounts of information and find relevant information that the human is looking for. Also, find answers to specific questions by analyzing the reading material.
*5 -* Provide tutoring for questions/problems that a student does not understand, using the course material as a guide, as well as other sources when needed to further break down the information into something more understandable.
*6 -* Do research on a highly specific topic. Give the human control to decide whether they want to use certain sources, or exclude certain sources, or if they want all the information they can find from any source. Organize & cite the information to be vetted by the human.
*7 -* Find patterns in information.
*8 -* Format written information in a Word document.
*9 -* Proofread and rewrite something (without changing the content) to make it sound more interesting, such as by changing the writing style to better fit a certain genre, or changing the tone of voice.
*10 -* Have the AI follow a complex story outline. The AI should be able to accurately follow each point in the outline, and be trained to distinguish between the bigger plot points and smaller plot points within them. The AI would be used to flesh out the story outlined, or just to create a draft so we have something to start working with.
