      Because they largely are. Playing hockey is expensive, gear, travel, fees, and most attend pricey hockey camps throughout their youth.

    Why does every single video like this forget about tax rates that millionaires have? All NHL players (except for Florida players) Have a tax rate closer to 50% so you have to think that their career earnings halved are about their net worth

      Exactly, although, you might be surprised what tax lawyers and accountants can do for ya. That's a big reason they buy expensive houses.

      @@ottomatic3123 Very true. They also have different tax according to the salary bonus which is why many highly paid players have 1-2 Million salary and rest in signing bonuses. Take Barkovs new contract for example
