  • Sigma Sport Bicycle Computer - How to Set Wheel Size
    I'm making this video just so I won't have to find or read the manual again!
    Sigma Sport Manual Link: www.sigmasport.com/us/service_...
    My web site bike tire size calculator:
    www.berkshiresports.org/index....
    I don't really understand this, but here are the wheel size settings I use (which are for MPH):
    16x1.75x2 = 0790
    20x1.75x2 = 0988
    24x1.75x2 = 1184
    24x1 3/8 A = 1210
    26x3/4 = 1214
    26x1 = 1225
    26x1.5 = 1258
    26x1.6 = 1274
    26x1.75x2 = 1286
    26x1 3/8x1 1/2 = 1296
    26x1.9 = 1298
    700x18C = 1306
    26x1 3/8 = 1307
    26x2.00 = 1313
    700x20C = 1313
    26x2.125 = 1325
    700x23C = 1325
    700x25C = 1333
    700x28C = 1335
    27x1 1/4 Fifty = 1350
    700x32C = 1350
    27x1 1/4 = 1366
    28x1 3/8x1 5/8 = 1370
    700x35C = 1370
    28x1.5 = 1381
    700x40C = 1381
    28x1 1/2 = 1407
    28x1.75 = 1409
    The manual also has wheel size settings for KPH (and what I don't get is why these would be different):
    16x1.75x2 = 1272
    20x1.75x2 = 1590
    24x1.75x2 = 1907
    24x1 3/8 A = 1948
    26x3/4 = 1954
    26x1 = 1973
    26x1.5 = 2026
    26x1.6 = 2051
    26x1.75x2 = 2070
    26x1 3/8x1 1/2 = 2086
    26x1.9 = 2089
    700x18C = 2102
    26x1 3/8 = 2105
    26x2.00 = 2114
    700x20C = 2114
    26x2.125 = 2133
    700x23C = 2133
    700x25C = 2146
    700x28C = 2149
    27x1 1/4 Fifty = 2174
    700x32C = 2174
    27x1 1/4 = 2199
    28x1 3/8x1 5/8 = 2205
    700x35C = 2205
    28x1.5 = 2224
    700x40C = 2224
    28x1 1/2 = 2265
    28x1.75 = 2268

    Thanks to your posting, I was able puzzle out the correct information for my Tires. Here is the formula for odd sized tires:
    For KPH: Enter the circumference of the tire connected to the computer in Millimeters. (i.e. roll the tire on the ground, and measure the distance of one complete revolution.
    For MPH: Multiply the millimeters from above by 0.6124 (the conversion from kilometers to miles).
    Thanks again!

    I just dug out my old Sigma sport as my newer fancy wireless Polar unit is no longer supported, and found this very useful video. To clarify the wheel settings, it uses mm for kph, and 1/1000 mile for mph. Most now use mm whatever the input, pretty sloppy of the programmer to use a measurement for which there is no ruler lol. So measure circumference in mm and divide by 1.6.
    The clock can also be set in clock mode, by pressing the same set button.

    Yes, it's the circumference of your wheel with tire on it. And it depends on how inflated you have it. Search for: "berkshire sports wheel size calculator" on Google. The first link should bring you to my web site. Up in the upper left menu - I have Bike Tire Size Calculator that might help you out. You could use linear interpolation to get the right size.I have something that does that part way down the page.

    for most accurate wheel size
    *Measure overall height of the tire in inches;
    *Multiply by 25.4 to convert to mm.
    *Multiply by 3.14 to get the circumference of the wheel.
    *Divide by 1.61 for MPH

  • @lushtm
    @lushtm Před 14 lety

    To get the most accurate calibration do a wheel roll out. With the valve stem perpendicular to the ground, mark the pavement at the valve stem. With the riders weight on the bike, roll the wheel one tire revolution in a straight line and mark the ground when the valve stem is perpendicular to the ground again. Measure the distance in inch or millimeters (depending on your measuring type).
    This is the most accurate wheel calibration number.
    Hope this helps

    I just go buy my tire size. I list some common tire sizes at the end of the video, around 3:11 into it. I believe you're supposed to measure the distance of one revolution of your tire in mm. If I remember my high school algebra right, you would take the diameter (or 2xradius) of the wheel (including tire, probably with you sitting on it to depress the tire) and multiply by 3.14

    Description has been updated with all the wheel sizes from manual. Your wheel size isn't listed. I think you want the circumference of the wheel, maybe in millimeters? You want to measure wheel that will have the magnet. I'd get on the bike, and measure the distance of one revolution of the wheel and see what you come up with. Should be 700-800 kind of range (in mm) I'm guessing.

    This is maddening; Everyone seems to say wheel size, but isn't the tire the actual thing that matters? Even the instructions from Sigma say wheel, but show you how the measure the wheel with the tire on, and including the tire. My tire size falls in between two settings (26x2.10); but my wheel size does have a setting. Which should I use, and if the tire, go bigger or smaller to match?
    Thanks.

      @7REDDRACO7 Před 7 lety

      you must measure exact diameter or circumference with string or tape for most accurate, do not go by stamped tire sizes they are false and for reference for tubes and wheels only. for example I measured the exact circumference with a string and then tape measured that in millimeters must get extra large tape roll. plus I measured diameter exact with tape measure and tire inflated and worn. then converted diameter to exact circumference in millimeters mine measured 2166.342 mm so I used the numbers 2166. And point 342 millimeters will wear off your tires in little time if you ride a lot and is miniscule for calculating mph from circumference inside the unit itself. but also can be due to inflation pressure and atmospherical conditions. I believe this was a near 27.25" measured diameter even though both my 700CX32 tires and 27.5" tires measured both exactly at 27.25" inflated tire diameter near exact diameter but very exactly 2166mm circumference.

    the numbers in the book it clearly states are the circumference not diameter so measure your diameter then convert to circumference on the internet with a converter and use the closest number in millimeters circumference and input that into the gauge. for instance 700X32 c equals 2166 millimeters circumference and is only off POINT342 millimeters and that is due to inflation or tread depth and or wear.. so your numbers are wrong. you must measure to be exact diameter DO NOT use the indicated wrong size estimates based on stock tire numbers they are wrong instead you must measure. over and out.. this is for mph or kph because that's internal based on setting the circumferences are the same.
    The exact circumference in millimeters mine measured 2166.342 mm so I used the numbers 2166.

    Incredible. Instead of typing in the mm circumference of the different tyres, you type in the (kilometres to mile conversion ratio) multiplied by (the tyre circumference in mm). All manuals and other videos say you do not need to do this, even when you have set the computer to mph. Will have to see if your setting is sensible.
