What an amazing retro video. I still remember these two close games by the Philippines against Indonesia and Thailand. This Filipino team, whose members were straight out of college, was just a quick and desperate replacement to the original powerhouse squad that were supposed to suit up for the country in 1993 SEAG. Due to some politicking inside the BAP, about 8 or 10 members of the original team decided to back out of their duty just when the tournament was about to start. With very little time left to organize and train the new squad, the country almost failed to retain the Men's SEA Games crown as both Indonesia and Thailand gave them a scare in the Semifinal and Final. Good thing for the PHL that the equally talented replacement players were all determined and inspired to defend the Gold medal in spite of all the problems they encountered along the way. Most of these players did not really made names for themselves in the pro league, but some of them had some luck. Siot Tanquincen was a player and eventually became a champion coach in the PBA. Poch Junio was a vital, towering member of the 1996 Grand Slam squad of Alaska. Mike Orquillas was a member of the champion team Ginebra and (not really sure) Sta Lucia.

This team, most of them were part of the RP youth team like Rhodney Santos, Poch Juinio, mike orquillas,bethune tanquincen. other players were Ramon Singson,Long David,Cris Bade,Peter Naron,Gilbert Castillo and Eric Gascon.

I don't really remember this RP line up. Never heard any of them. Maybe I just missed 1993.
