  • How fish on the Mekong River are caught and sold.. cooked and consumed... by the people of the Mekong region.
    Director: Rajesh Daniel
Producer: MPOWER, USER & International Rivers
    2011
Synopsis: The story of how fish from the Mekong River are caught and sold, cooked and consumed, by the people of the Mekong region. The rich wild-capture fisheries of the Mekong River and its ecosystems feed and support not only people living alongside the river, but are crucial for the livelihoods of millions of people across mainland Southeast Asia who trade, sell and cook them. Caught using an array of nets, baskets and traps, cooked in many amazing ways, the Mekong River's wild fish catch is central to the region's food security. Through the stories of the people themselves, the film shows the journey of the wild capture fish from fisher to trader to cook to consumer - its passage through networks of trade as people work through the night and day to transport the catch to villages and towns, to markets, homes and restaurants.

The lower fish amounts recently are due to the hydroelectric dams, which block fish migration, and also largely due to the run off waste from the mining and agricultural pesticides. This river has been supplying fish for tens of millions of people for hundreds or maybe thousands of yeas.

Don't eat non veg. Don't eat fish. They have their's own life to live. They have feelings of pain. So don't hurt their feelings. They also have living things and all emotions. Don't hurt animals. SAVE ANIMALS. SAVE TREES. SAVE NATURE 🙏

i just got done watching a more recent doc on this same river and the people are having to quit fishing cause they are all gone. They need to be taught at what age/ size these fish breed this way they dont take babies.

Jumps too much from scene to scene, I don't like getting blinked off so I quit it at 3:16 and clicked the dislike icon from 33 to 34. Now off for greener pastures and leave amateur land behind.
